Himachal BJP leaders hold protest over FIR against Bindal, others
Targeting the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu led Congress government in the state, former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur accused it of targeting Hindus.
'Sukhu is conspiring to trap people belonging to Hindu society and send them to jail. He is trying to crush the sentiments of Hindutva and humiliate them,' said leader of opposition Jai Ram, during the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha at Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district on Wednesday.
The statement was made during the protest organised by the BJP against the registration of attempt to murder case against 100 protestors, including party's state president Rajiv Bindal and MLA Sukhram Chaudhary, after they held protest seeking action against the accused involved in alleged abduction of a 18-year-old.
Thakur said, 'The case filed against the Hindu community should be withdrawn. The police and administration should stop working under the protection of the government.'
Congress government is harassing rivals: Bindal
Bindal said that the present Congress government in the state has been harassing political rivals.
Bindal alleged that on the orders of the Congress government, at the behest of local Congress leaders, the police and administration are harassing the people of the Hindu community, arresting them, creating an atmosphere of terror and filing cases of attempted murder against everyone, while not taking any action against those who pelted bricks and because of whom this matter started. 'This is the vote bank policy of the Congress and the atmosphere of the area is being spoiled for its sake,' said Bindal.

Modi is Prez, Shimla is nat'l capital: Class X students' answers leave Sukhu upset
During a surprised visit to Government Senior Secondary School at Baga Sarahan in Kullu district on Wednesday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was taken aback when Class X students failed to give correct answers to his two questions — who is the President of India, and which city is the national capital? To his surprise, one student said Narendra Modi is the President of India, and another said 'Shimla is the capital of India. However, the correct answers came from two students of Class IV, giving a sigh of relief to the CM and others, including Kullu Deputy Commissioner Torul S Raveesh and Kullu MLA Sundar Singh Thakur. The visibly upset chief minister pulled up the principal of the senior secondary school for the dismal response from Class X students and told him to focus on the general knowledge of the students instead of merely teaching them textbooks. Sukhu, however, appreciated the primary classes' teachers, whose students answered the questions correctly. According to information, Sukhu made a surprise visit to the school on his way back to Shimla after concluding a two-day visit to Baga Sarahan, where he inaugurated several developmental projects and released Rs 1,500 instalments for women under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojna (IGPBSSNY). When Sukhu reached the school morning prayer meeting was in progress. A senior officer accompanying the CM said, 'His visit was unexpected. He didn't tell anyone about this. The idea to visit the school came to his mind at the last moment. It appears he wanted to check the standard of education quality among the students. He was upset when students of Class X failed to answer two simple questions, which Class IV students correctly answered.' When contacted, Director of Elementary Education, Himachal Pradesh, Ashish Kohli said, 'It is a matter of concern if students of Class X failed to answer the simplest questions and students of primary classes answered them. I will look into this matter. As the CM has issued instructions to focus on the general knowledge of the students, the instructions will be strictly followed.' Later, interacting with the teachers, Sukhu emphasised providing practical knowledge to the students, apart from the routine curriculum, and imparting competitive general knowledge as well. Sukhu also interacted with the students and encouraged them to set clear targets and work hard with dedication to achieve their dreams. He advised the students to adopt noble values and ideals in their lives. He said the old school building from Pre-Nursery to Class VIII must be replaced with a modern school building. Earlier, the CM met residents at Public Works Department Rest House in Baga Sarahan and listened to their grievances. He also gave necessary directions to the officers concerned for the redressal of the same.

"PM Modi should be ashamed to come to Bihar": RJD's Tejashwi Yadav
Patna (Bihar) [India], June 19 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his upcoming visit to Bihar, claiming that the PM is coming to Bihar to do 'politics of hatred' and should be ashamed to come to the state due to unfulfilled promises. 'If PM Modi listens to his 200 speeches that he has given so far in Bihar, he will be ashamed to come to Bihar. He made hundreds of promises, he will be ashamed of what to say to the people of Bihar... He is not coming to Bihar to provide employment, reduce inflation, eliminate poverty, but just to do the politics of Hindu-Muslim, the politics of hatred,' Yadav told ANI earlier today. We all know new parties are being formed in Bihar under the RSS quota. All the new parties that have been formed will be seen nowhere once the election is over in Bihar,' the RJD leader said. Prashant Kishor is the founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, started on October 2, 2024. Kishor, an election strategist turned politician, had announced in July of 2024 that his party would be contesting all the assembly election seats. Meanwhile, Kishor hit out at Tejashwi Yadav's nepotism jibe, claiming that Yadav only wants to see Nitish Kumar's son in politics so he can also raise allegations of nepotism instead of facing the allegations himself, with Yadav being the son of former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav. Kishor told reporters in Gopalganj, 'Tejashwi Yadav and his family face allegations of nepotism. Tejashwi Yadav wants that if Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's son also joins politics, he will say he is not the only one who faces allegations of nepotism. As far as I know, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's son will not join politics and was not going to.' (ANI)
