Two fatal crashes in Hawke's Bay within three hour period

A person died after a car crashed in the central Hawke's Bay town of Waipawa this morning.
Emergency services were called to Racecourse Road just after 4am. The Serious Crash Unit has examined the scene, and enquiries are ongoing.
It was the second fatal crash in the region within three hours.
In the first case in Waiora, a person died after a single-vehicle crash overnight on Saturday.
Police said emergency services were called to the crash on Kopu Road about 1.05am.
A police said the Serious Crash Unit had examined the scene and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.

Anne's son made a plea for help finding his mum on social media, and described her as being 155cm, of small build with a brown/blonde long ponytail. He said she had no phone, wallet or keys with her. "She may be heading towards familiar places such as Howick, the central city, Point Chev or just sitting in a park," his post said. "Every minute counts." The crash, involving an Auckland Transport bus, happened at the intersection of Fanshawe St and Hobson St shortly before 6pm on Wednesday. No serious injuries had been reported, a police spokesperson said, but ambulance staff were at the scene assessing people. The circumstances surrounding the crash would be investigated by police. By 6.30pm the road was open, and police could be seen talking to people beside the bus which was pulled on to the side of the road.
