From pioneering movie ticketing to revolutionising outdoor advertising, Manish Gulechha's journey has been one of continuous innovation. An engineer from BSMCE, Bengaluru University, with a deep grounding in technology, Gulechha co-founded Kushal's Fashion Jewellery after building a portfolio of tech ventures including iticket.in and Snapooh.com.
"In Kushal's, I saw a unique opportunity to blend technology with design, tradition, and consumer delight," said Manish Gulechha, Co-founder of Kushal's. "What started as a consulting role evolved into a shared vision, and by 2018, I joined full-time to lead strategy and digital growth."
Founded in 2006 in Bengaluru, Kushal's has transformed from a single-store brand into a jewellery giant with 100 stores across 35 cities, predominantly in South India. "We aim to reach 150 stores by FY 2025-26 and are targeting 40% year-on-year growth," shared Gulechha.
The brand's omnichannel model—spanning its own app, website, and leading marketplaces—powers over 1000 daily orders and serves a customer base of over 1 million. "Nearly 80% of our online sales now come from our D2C platforms. This gives us full control over the consumer journey and helps us deliver highly personalised experiences," Gulechha added.
Kushal's is known for celebration wear, its bestselling category, and 92.5 minimal silver jewellery, the fastest-growing segment. With a strong community of 500K social media followers and 1,300 employees, the brand stands at the intersection of artisanal value and tech-enabled scale.
"Our product designs are deeply inspired by Indian heritage—from temple motifs to meenakari—but reimagined in modern, wearable formats. We want every Kushal's product to feel luxurious yet accessible," said Gulechha.
Beyond jewellery, the brand is also focusing on building a premium in-store experience that mirrors the sophistication of fine jewellery outlets, complemented by seamless digital convenience. "We see immense potential in regional customisation, data-led product curation, and quick discovery—elements that are shaping the next phase of retail," added Gulechha.
As the brand looks to expand both online and offline, Gulechha summed up its ethos: "At Kushal's, we keep the consumer at the center of everything. With strong product quality, design authenticity, and a seamless experience across touchpoints, we're redefining what it means to shop for jewellery in the digital age."

Pixxel Secures Second Defence Grant to Develop Advanced Space Imaging Payloads for IAF
The iDEX scheme, under the Ministry of Defence, is designed to spur the development of prototypes and advanced technologies by startups and small enterprises You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. Pixxel, a space technology company headquartered in Bengaluru, has secured a second grant under the Indian Ministry of Defence's iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) initiative, aimed at accelerating indigenous innovation for the country's defence forces. The new SPARK Grant—awarded to its subsidiary, SpacePixxel Pvt Ltd—will support the development of hyperspectral and Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR) payloads for the Indian Air Force. The award, part of the iDEX DISC 8 Challenge 6.2, marks a continued collaboration between Pixxel and the Indian defence ecosystem. It builds on the company's earlier selection under the iDEX Prime (Space) Mission DefSpace Challenge in 2023, which focused on miniaturised multi-payload satellite development. Pixxel, known for constructing what it claims is the world's highest-resolution hyperspectral satellite constellation, said it will now focus on delivering security-grade imaging technology designed for both airborne and space-based platforms. These next-generation payloads are expected to enhance India's remote sensing capabilities, enabling high-precision monitoring and analysis in strategic scenarios. "This grant is a proud milestone in our journey to put India at the forefront of next-generation aerospace innovation," said Awais Ahmed, founder and CEO of Pixxel, in a statement. "We're honoured to deepen our partnership with the Government of India and advance our mission of building cutting-edge space infrastructure right here at home." Hyperspectral imaging technology captures detailed spectral data across hundreds of wavelengths, offering advantages in detecting materials, identifying terrain changes, and monitoring environmental or military assets. The addition of MWIR capability would allow for enhanced thermal imaging, critical in low-light or night-time operations. The iDEX scheme, under the Ministry of Defence, is designed to spur the development of prototypes and advanced technologies by startups and small enterprises. Pixxel's repeated selection for support highlights the government's growing trust in the company's technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities. With three satellites already in orbit and more expected to launch, Pixxel has been steadily expanding its footprint in the space-based Earth observation sector. Its in-house platform, Pixxel Aurora, offers users tools to visualise and analyse hyperspectral data for a range of applications. However, the company has remained focused on its core objective: developing a real-time, high-resolution monitoring system for the planet with dual-use potential for civilian and defence stakeholders.

Adani Visits Chinese Equipment Makers as US Legal Woes Linger
Indian billionaire Gautam Adani traveled to China last week to meet industrial equipment manufacturers, marking what appears to be his first overseas trip since the US unveiled criminal and civil cases against him in November. The visit, including to a solar module maker, underscores Adani's continued efforts to maintain momentum in renewables even as he faces heightened scrutiny abroad. Sagar Adani, who oversees the green arm of the conglomerate's sprawling empire, accompanied his uncle on the trip, according to a social media post by one of the companies he visited.

India 'hopeful' of reaching deal with US before Trump's tariff deadline
Delhi is "hopeful" of reaching a trade agreement with the US before the 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs ends on 9 July, India's foreign minister has said. In an interview with French daily Le Figaro on Tuesday, S Jaishankar, who is on a four-day visit to Belgium and France, said India and US had already begun trade negotiations before Trump unveiled his 2 April 'Liberation day' tariffs on global partners, including up to 27% on India. "Prime Minister [Narendra] Modi met with Donald Trump in February and they decided to further open access to our respective markets," Jaishankar told the paper. "We are hopeful of reaching an agreement before the end of the tariff suspension on 9 July." Earlier in the day, a US delegation held closed-door meetings with Indian trade ministry officials in Delhi. An unnamed Indian official told Reuters news agency that the recent set of trade talks with US officials had been productive and "helped in making progress towards crafting a mutually beneficial and balanced agreement including through achievement of early wins". Until recently, the US was India's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $190bn. India has already reduced tariffs on a range of goods - including Bourbon whiskey and motorcycles - but the US continues to run a $45bn (£33bn) trade deficit with India, which Trump is keen to reduce. Trump and Modi have set a target to more than double this figure to $500bn, though Delhi is unlikely to offer concessions in politically sensitive sectors such as agriculture. Earlier this month, the White House told its trade partners that the US wants them to make their best trade offers, with the deadline fast approaching, Reuters news agency reported. Last week, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said he was "very optimistic" about a deal between India and US, which he said said would come in the "not too distant future". In May, Trump made global headlines by claiming that Delhi had offered to drop all tariffs on goods imported from the US. These claims were swiftly disputed by India, with the foreign minister saying that "nothing is decided till everything is". Jaishankar had previously emphasised that any trade deal must be mutually beneficial and work for both countries. Speaking separately about US foreign policy under Trump, Jaishankar told Le Figaro he sees the US "looking at things from the perspective of its immediate interest and seeking benefits for itself". "Frankly, I will do the same with them," Jaishankar added. Follow BBC News India on Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
