Devotion marks Guru Poornima celebrations at Prasanthi Nilayam

Nimish Pandya, All India President of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, spoke on gratitude and surrender, drawing from the life of Sant Tukaram and Lord Vitthala. He described true devotion as accepting every moment as the Guru's prasad, calling the Guru's guidance the greatest assurance in life.A key highlight was the presence of Union minister for agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who distributed farming equipment to 100 farmers from Sri Sathya Sai district, promoting sustainable agriculture.
State health minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav also attended, reflecting governmental support for rural development. In his address, Chouhan, a first-time visitor, expressed awe at the universal love permeating Prasanthi Nilayam.
He planted a Rudraksha sapling at Shanti Bhavan, symbolising his bond with Mother Earth.

Guru Purnima ritual at Kasaragod school sparks controversy
Kasaragod: Saraswathi Vidyalayam in Bandadka in Kasaragod has courted controversy after a 'Guru Pada Pooja' ritual was held in which students allegedly washed the feet of teachers with water and offer flowers at their feet as a sign of respect. The incident occurred as part of the Guru Purnima celebration on Thursday. Around 30 teachers who retired from various schools including Saraswathi Vidyalayam were honoured by students on the occasion. The incident triggered a controversy after the photographs of the event went viral on social media platforms. Various organizations protested against the school and urged the govt to take action. Muslim Youth League, the IUML's youth wing, demanded that govt should give an explanation regarding the permission given to hold such a programme at the school. SFI criticized the school authority for performing such a ritual. The organization urged the govt to take action against the school. There were also demands for an intervention of Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights in the incident. Meanwhile, school headmistress PT Uma denied the allegations, claiming that the students did not clean the feet of teachers.
