Topps launches ‘Gold Logoman' cards celebrating MLB's top award winners

Topps is adding to its growing lineup of game-used, ultra high-end chases with a new Gold Logoman card, the company announced Saturday.
Similar to the Rookie Debut Patch Autograph, Topps and Fanatics will collaborate with Nike and MLB for the Gold Logoman cards, which will be created from jerseys worn by the top award winners from each league last season.
That lineup includes MVPs Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge, Cy Young winners Chris Sale and Tarik Skubal and Rookie of the Year winners Paul Skenes and Luis Gil.
The players will wear the jerseys, which feature a special gold logo instead of the traditional club-colored silhouette on the back, for the entire 2025 season. The jerseys will be authenticated throughout the year with 10 from each player used to create the Gold Logoman cards after the season.
Topps didn't immediately announce which products the cards will appear in.

Ohtani will wear the first jersey used to create Gold Logoman cards when the Dodgers play an exhibition game against the Yomiuri Giants Saturday in the Tokyo Series.
Fanatics will also sell retail versions of all six players' authentic home, away, City Connect and alternate jerseys.
The Gold Logoman cards are the latest push by Topps and Fanatics to include more game-used memorabilia from specific moments in sports card products.
The trend started with the release of the Rookie Debut Patch Autograph in 2023 Topps Chrome Update, which features a one-of-a-kind patch created for and worn only during a player's MLB debut. These cards have quickly become some of the most coveted in the trading card hobby, surpassing the record sales of Superfractor 1/1 parallels in some cases.
The Rookie Debut Patch worn by Skenes, which was pulled by an 11-year-old boy on Christmas last year, is currently up for auction at Fanatics Collect. As of Friday, the high bid for the card was $660,000, including buyer's premium.
Topps has also made an effort in recent releases to include more Logoman patches in its high-end offerings — a trend that has been most popular during the ultra-modern era for basketball and football cards, which feature NBA Logoman and NFL Shield patches.
Among Topps' new Logoman cards is the logo from the pants Ohtani was wearing when he hit the 50th home run of his historic 50-homer, 50-steal season last year. That Ohtani Logoman is part of the new Dynasty Black brand, which was announced in September and will feature memorabilia from specific moments.
Currently up for auction at Heritage, the Ohtani Logoman has a high bid of $176,900, including buyer's premium, with nearly two weeks remaining.
The use of gold to highlight award winners falls in line with the recent tradition of teams wearing gold-trimmed uniforms to celebrate World Series wins. According to ESPN, the modern tradition of gold-trimmed uniforms started with the 2005 Boston Sox following the team's historic win in 2004.
