Boom! Ohio State lands commitment from second defensive lineman in as many days
Boom! For the second time in as many days, Ohio State has landed a verbal pledge from another defensive lineman. One day after landing four-star defensive lineman Damari Simeon, Cameron Brickle II has given his commitment to wear the Scarlet and Gray.
A Pennsylvania native, the three-star recruit chose the Buckeyes over Maryland, Florida State, and Penn State. The Nittany Lions were seen as the biggest threat to OSU, but ultimately, Larry Johnson was able to secure the young man's commitment.
Brickle has had an interesting high school journey, where he started his high school career at Malvern Prep in Philadelphia. He then transferred to Santa Margarita Catholic in California for his sophomore year before returning to Malvern Prep for his junior year. He'll finish out his high school career at IMG Academy in Florida.
Brickle is listed as the No. 62 overall defensive lineman according to 247Sports composite rankings.
Brickle becomes the 19th recruit pledged to the 2026 class, which is ranked No. 5 overall according to 247Sports composite rankings.

Meadows, an edge rusher ranked No. 72 in the 247Sports Composite for the Class of 2026, committed to Michigan on Sunday after a heated recruiting battle between the Buckeyes and Wolverines. Meadows has one of the highest ceilings of any defensive player in the 2026 class and is ranked as a top-10 prospect by On3. Both programs were in the market for a high-end pass rusher to bolster their 2026 recruiting classes, which are shaping up as two of the best in the Big Ten. While Ohio State is rarely far from the top of the rankings, Michigan's class was ranked in the low 40s just a few weeks ago. With commitments from Meadows, offensive tackle Malakai Lee, defensive lineman Titan Davis and wide receiver Zion Robinson, Michigan is now in position to sign another top-10 class. Michigan and Ohio State are also among the finalists for Savion Hiter, the top running back prospect in the 2026 class. Hiter visited both schools along with Georgia and Tennessee and has yet to set a commitment date. Despite the buildup around the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry, true head-to-head recruiting battles are relatively rare. Running back Jordan Marshall was an Ohio prospect who picked Michigan over the Buckeyes in the Class of 2024, and Michigan pushed hard for Ohio cornerback prospects Bryce West and Aaron Scott in the same class before they signed with the Buckeyes. Michigan football add five-star with 2026 EDGE Carter Meadows commitment to the Wolverines
In the past few years, the Wolverines have had a simple strategy: dominate up front. That strategy led to three straight Big Ten titles, three straight College Football Playoff appearances, a national championship, and four straight wins over Ohio State. And with the 2026 recruiting class starting to come together, it's clear that the strategy is showing no signs of slowing down. Michigan football has continued to add to both lines -- offensive and defensive -- in 2026, with players such as four-star offensive tackle Malakai Lee and four-star edge rusher McHale Blade choosing the Wolverines over a litany of top schools across the country. But the latest addition for the maize and blue is about as big as it gets. After battling multiple schools, namely Ohio State, for Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga edge rusher Carter Meadows, Michigan ended winning out, with Meadows having announced his commitment to the Wolverines. Meadows had offers from Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and others. Scouting report Here's the scouting report on Meadows from 247Sports: Spider-like pass rusher with exceptional physical specs, but one where the sack total has yet to match the big-league potential. Can give opposing offensive tackles fits just with his stride length as he can run the arc and right into the quarterback. Has spent much of prep career attacking from a 5-technique in a four-man front. Wins more times than not with his top-flight athleticism as he pairs adequate get-off with slippery inside-outside agility, but further technical development will dictate pressure rate on Saturdays and beyond as he's got the levers to chop and swipe his way around the corner like few others. Makes his fair share of stops in backside pursuit with his closing speed, but has to get better at crushing blocks and holding his turf if he's going to make a living as an every-down defender. Five-star 2026 linebacker chooses Alabama over Ohio State
In what isn't much of a surprise, five-star 2026 linebacker Xavier Griffin announced his commitment to Alabama on Sunday. James Laurinaitis and Ohio State had hopes early on that Griffin could join an already solid linebacker room because of the prospects over the last couple of cycles, but as of late, the trend has been towards Tuscaloosa despite Griffin decommitting from USC and immediately scheduling a visit to Coumbus. In the end, the pull to stay in the south for the Georgia product proved to be too much. Griffin is ranked as the No. 27 overall prospect and the 2nd-best linebacker in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Had the news went Ohio State's way on Sunday it would have been a major shocker as the program looks to put the finishing touches on its 2026 recruiting class. For now, Laurinaitis and company will soldier on with the fantastic group he has at the spot.
