Mysuru DC directs officials to ensure timely processing of e-khata application

The directive came during a meeting held at the DC's office on Tuesday to review civic and infrastructure issues in the Krishnaraja assembly constituency. MLA TS Srivatsa voiced serious concerns over the delays in issuing e-khatas, citing recent Lokayukta raids at zonal offices as a fallout of such inefficiencies.
In response, officials provided updates.
According to that, zone 1 has no pending e-khata files, while zone 2 has around 200 applications pending due to online portal issues, and zone 9 has approximately 150 files pending, which are expected to be cleared within 2 to 3 days.
On infrastructure, the MLA demanded immediate completion of long-pending roadworks at Vijaya Bank Circle, Vivekananda Circle, and Siddaganga Seer Circle on Vishwa Manava Double Road in Kuvempu Nagar, stalled for over a year.
The DC acknowledged delays, particularly at Siddaganga Seer Circle, where work halted over concerns regarding the statue's visibility. He instructed officials to consult local leaders, and if no objections arise, resume and complete the project without further delay.
The MLA highlighted water scarcity in areas including Narayanshastri Road, Ittigegudu, Srirampura, BEML Layout, and Mahendra Layout, urging reallocation of resources.

In response, Ashwin, executive engineer of Vani Vilas Water Works, said trial runs are being conducted to supply water from the Kabini River, and redistribution to affected areas will begin within 2–3 days.
The DC added that of the additional 30 million litres per day (MLD) sourced from Kabini, 15 MLD should be allocated to the KR Constituency. MDA commissioner KR Rakshith informed that out of Rs 9.5 crore worth of development works in the constituency, three projects were completed, and one is in progress.

Mohali councillor Sarabjit Singh Samana on Tuesday accused Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu of 'dodging key issues' and being a 'complete failure' in development works, asking him to resign voluntarily, even as the latter claimed that the Municipal Corporation (MC) is facing a severe fund crunch. Speaking with The Indian Express, Samana said the Mayor had recently claimed to give a 24-hour ultimatum to meet the Mohali MLA but 'has not shown up till today (Tuesday).' 'The Mayor should stop playing hide-and-seek and come to MLA Kulwant Singh's office anytime if he genuinely wants to solve Mohali's issues,' he added. Targeting Sidhu's handling of the garbage crisis, Samana alleged, 'until MLA Kulwant Singh raised the Samgoli issue, the Mayor didn't even know about it. Even after visiting the site, he's only making delaying statements, though the access road is the corporation's responsibility'. He said the crisis could have been avoided had action been taken when the dumping ground shut down 18 months ago. On the drainage issue, Samana claimed the Mayor talks about a Rs 200-crore project 'without bringing it to the House, passing it, or even presenting a survey report.' Taking a dig, he said: 'the Mayor is an expert in airy statements. He even said in public that saving his chair for four years would be his biggest success which shows staying in power is his only goal'. The councillor also took a swipe at the Mayor's elder brother, former MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu, saying, 'Despite holding no constitutional post, Balbir Sidhu claims he is getting works done, while the Mayor says his works aren't done. Either one is lying, or both are. It seems Balbir has taken the contract to lie in villages, and the Mayor in the city'. Meanwhile, in a counter move, Mayor Sidhu, through his representative, delivered a copy of a letter addressed to the Chief Minister at MLA Kulwant Singh's office. The letter seeks a Rs 600-crore grant for 15 major projects, including resolving the garbage problem, rainwater drainage, city bus service, replacing asbestos sewage pipes, and constructing an auditorium. In the letter, the Mayor stated that Mohali MC faces a severe fund crunch as it has 'no independent sources of income,' while GMADA 'earns billions by selling land in Mohali but does not provide necessary funds.' Sidhu said he has now sent full expenditure details to the MLA as requested. 'Now it's up to the MLA to tell when he will go to the Chief Minister for this grant. I, along with my fellow councillors, am ready anytime to accompany him,' the Mayor added.

Graveyard bulldozed in Sambhal; houses, shops marked in red for demolition
Meerut: Authorities in Sambhal on Tuesday bulldozed parts of a graveyard in the district's Sher Khan Sarai village under Sadar Kotwali and reclaimed around 2,000 square metres of "encroached govt land". Officials said action in the matter -- under section 67 of the UP Revenue Code -- was taken following an investigation. They also marked around 31 shops and 20 houses in nearby Turtipur Ilha as "illegal structure on govt school and gram samaj land". Locals who reside near the graveyard were seemingly upset. One of them said, "Razing any grave is not right. These graves were very old..." A young resident added: "We have been seeing these graves since our childhood." Sambhal DM, Rajender Pensiya, said, "Sambhal's tehsildar court ordered the removal of encroachments on July 9. Since no appeal was made against the order within the stipulated time, demolition was carried out with bulldozers in the presence of police personnel. Public use of the encroached graveyard was stopped a long time ago." The DM added that the land will now be used to build a police post and a girls' hostel. "Cost of the reclaimed land is around Rs 6 cr. This place was encroached upon over the years with boundary walls and a large concrete gate, which has been razed," he said. During the anti-encroachment drive at Turtipur Ilha locality, officials marked about 51 properties as "illegal" with red paint. The DM said that land records confirmed the sites were govt-owned, and the occupants were told to prove ownership or face demolition. "Some of the structures are 15–20 years old," he said. At both locations, residents opposed the administrative action. "We have been living here for decades. This house was built by my grandfather some 60 years ago. Many other houses in the locality are of the same time," a local said. Another added: "Declaring them illegal without due consideration is unfair and wrong." Court slaps Rs 1.3L penalty on MP Barq'sSambhal house for ‘illegal construction'
Meerut: A sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) court in Sambhal on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 1.35 lakh against MP Ziaur Rahman Barq after it was found that a portion of his house was constructed illegally without map approval. The court has also ordered the removal of the portion "within 30 days". Sambhal SDM Vikas Chandra told TOI that the action was taken under section 10 of Uttar Pradesh (Regulation of Building Operations) Act, 1958. "A portion measuring around 1 m in width and 14.3 m in length of the constructed house was built without getting the map approved. A penalty of Rs 10,000 was imposed for not stopping the construction work despite notice, along with a fine of Rs 1.25 lakh at the rate of Rs 500 per day from the date of notice till today's (Tuesday) court decision. It totals Rs 1.35 lakh," the SDM said. The court further stated: "If the illegal construction is not removed within the stipulated time, the administration will act upon the matter, and its cost will be recovered from the MP."
