'I tried Erborian's new milky serum, it gave me plumper, glowier skin overnight'

Daily Mirror23-05-2025

Erborian's new milky serum promises glass-like skin overnight, and after just one use, I saw glow, hydration, and a noticeably plumper complexion
Milky toners are a bit of a buzzword right now in the beauty world, but in my opinion, the ones I've tried actually live up to their hype. From BYOMA's Hydrating Milky Toner, £11.99, to Curel's Moisture Facial Milk and Beauty of Joseon's Glow Replenishing Rice Milk, I've trialled my fair share.
And now K-Beauty brand Erborian has just launched its new Skin-Therapy Milky Serum. A biphase milky texture thats ideal for us who have normal to oily skin. I was intrigued by this as its a serum rather than a toner, and on the fact that it promises to target seven areas of the skin with just one tiny bottle. I'm not a massive fan of layering hundreds of different products on my face, so having a one-and-done product really appeals to me.
Packed full with 17 powerhouse ingredients, including glow-giving Yuzu, soothing Centella Asiatica, and Ginseng, this milky serum is ideal for those with oiler skin or those who prefer a barely-there feel. Plus, it's got skin-plumping Hyaluronic Acid and 10% PHA to gently exfoliate, clear pores and smooth texture, along with Allantoin to calm any redness.
Erborian Skin-Therapy Milky Serum review
I'm already a huge fan of Erborian. The CC Red Correct with Centella Asiatica is my current go-to base product and one of my favourite ever skin tints. While the Super BB Concealer also has a spot in my everyday make-up bag.
So I was very excited to test out this new launch. Firstly, I love the packaging, the glass bottle makes the serum feel really premium and the pipette makes the product so easy to use (makes sure to shake well before use as its a biphase texture). Secondly, I really enjoy the consistency, it feels oiler than serums I've tried in the past, but this makes the product glide so smoothly onto the skin and leaves the skin with that immediate radiance. The serum claims to have visible results after the first night, and I was pretty skeptical about this as I find a lot of brands claim that without actually having any instant results. But after using this serum for one night, I found that my skin felt hydrated, plumper and looked visibly glowy (in a trendy glass skin way, not a sweaty way). My sister even commented that my skin looked so bright and awake on our 7am morning walk.
Because of the 10% PHA content, Erborian recommend using this as a night-time-only treatment, ideally on its own (though a moisturiser on top is fine). As I mentined above, that's ideal for me, I don't love layering lots of products, especially when I'm short on time before bed.
I've struggled to find anything wrong with this product so far, I do have oilier skin so this product works perfectly for my skin type.If your skin is on the drier side though, you might find it not quite hydrating enough. In that case, I'd suggest trying the Skin Therapy Oil Serum from the same range. It has a richer, oil-based texture that's better suited for dry or very dry skin.
It is on the pricier side at £45, but considering how many areas it targets and the fact it eliminates using lots of other serums or toners, I think the price is justified.

I got my lip filler dissolved – my lips ‘exploded' and people say I ended up looking like a character from Monsters Inc

A WOMAN was left looking like a character from the animated movie Monsters Inc after getting her lip filler dissolved. The recent months have seen plenty of beauty buffs having epic glow-downs and embracing their natural features - which also means getting rid of their juicy pouts. 3 3 However, for one woman, Kimia Ahwazi, the journey to a more natural appearance went horribly wrong after she got her lip filler dissolved. Taking it to TikTok, the young dark-haired beauty shared a series of selfies after the procedure - which, she joked, caused her lips to ''explode''. Following the treatment, Kimia, thought to be from the Netherlands, noticed significant swelling - which is a normal side effect. This is because when filler is injected or dissolved, the body reacts to the minor trauma by releasing white blood cells, which causes inflammation and swelling, warned the experts at Karidis Clinic. ''The lips are particularly susceptible because there are so many blood vessels. '' Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are also more prone to swelling as they act as humectants, attracting 1,000 times their weight in moisture,'' they explained. However, nothing could prepare the Dutch beauty for what was to come, as mortified Kimia said it kept ''getting worse''. ''Was literally about to explode,'' Kimia said in the now-viral video, where her pout had ballooned up around three to four times its normal size. Horrified by what she was seeing in the camera, the beauty buff said she even considered taking drastic measures and was ''about to sue someone''. Checking out her reflection, Kamia, who posts under the username @ kimiaahwazi, even went was far as comparing herself to '' Marge Simpson ''. I'm so obsessed with filler that my huge lips touch my nose - trolls can't understand what I'm saying, but I don't care Despite the jaw-dropping results, Kamia tried to cheer herself up by ''overlining them for the vibes'' - and bizarrely confessed she even ''started to like the plump''. 'Quack if you need help' Since being posted online, the clip has taken the internet by storm, winning the beauty buff a whopping 3.1million views, over 95k likes and 11k shares. What are the risks of lip fillers? THE RISKS of dermal fillers depend on whether the procedure was done correctly and the type of filler used. The NHS recommends you speak to your practitioner about the risks beforehand. Serious problems are rare but can include: Infection A lumpy appearance under the skin, which might need to be treated with surgery or medicine The filler moving away from the intended treatment area, which may need to be removed using surgery Scarring Blocked blood vessels in the face, which can cause tissue death and permanent blindness You should see your GP if you have any complications that need medical attention and speak to your practitioner if you're not happy with the results or experience lumpiness. Source: NHS Close to an astronomical 800 people flooded to comments, many totally gobsmacked. One person wished her a speedy recovery - whilst also comparing her to a famous Monsters Inc character, Fungus. ''Not to be rude but.. Know that scream extractor scene in Monsters Inc? Yeah.. Hope you're doing better.'' Another joked, writing sarcastically: ''Amazing! Very natural effect, I hope this is what you were looking for.'' Meanwhile, someone else thought she belonged in the gang of iconic childhood dolls.

I'm a nail tech – here's the two words I hate from clients, I won't reply or book them in

A NAIL expert has revealed the two words that prospective clients say that can gets them ghosted. There's plenty of bad habits such as being glued to your phone and creating awkward conversations that can lead to a frosty atmosphere in the salon. But some beauty fans could ruin their chances of an appointment before they're even through the door. Nickie runs her own salon in Musselburgh, East Lothian, and also trains up other prospective nail technicians. In a recent TikTok video, she revealed her "unpopular opinion" about message enquiries. She said: "I'm not replying to you if you just write to me 'how much'. "Sorry? How much for what? How much for nails? How much for training? Eyebrows? Hair? A lift to your mum's house? "Like what even happened to 'hey how are you?'. "Not even a 'how are you?' Just like a 'hi'. "'Hi. How much is nails?' Or 'how much is training?' "[Just] 'How much?' Like? I'm sorry but I can't even reply because I feel like it's like a waste of my time because then I know you're not going to reply back to me again." She continued: "Am I just getting too old because I just don't know the lingo of this generation? How much? Even just like HW? What? Beauty fans can get their nails done professionally for just £5 in Superdrug - here's how "So unless somebody can speak an English sentence to me that is clear then I can't reply because…bye." And it turns out Nickie's grievance isn't an unpopular opinion at all, as her quickly racked up more than 10,000 views with plenty of comments from other beauty professionals. One said: "I have just completly stopped replying to people with those kind of messages. I find it so rude and I don't want clients like that. "Customers don't realise we do pick and choose our clientele." A second wrote: "I always just send my booking link lol" A third chimed in: "Or 'how much for gels' you tell them & they ghost you obviously think you're too expensive." "Completely agree, it's so rude", fumed a fourth. A fifth echoed: "It's so rude bugs me so much." Meanwhile, a sixth added: "If they arent kind enough to say 'hi', it isnt good money." Biggest beauty mistakes Fabulous' Beauty Editor Tara Ledden has shared the do's and don'ts when it comes to beauty. "No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you're not getting the basics right, the rest is wasted. "There aren't many non-negotiables, but these are the biggest beauty mistakes sabotaging your regime." Not wearing SPF: Sun-damage is the main cause of premature skin ageing, so if you want to keep your skin looking plump and glowing, sun cream is vital. Using expired products: Best case, they're ineffective and don't deliver the results they promise, worst case they cause irritation and infection. The shelf life of beauty products differ - for example, mascara is usually good for 3-6 months while lipstick can last for 9-18 months. Check the 'POA' symbol on the packaging (it looks like a jar and will have a number inside for how many months it's safe once opened. If you can't remember when you opened your product, throw it away and start again, marking the month and year with a permanent marker on the packaging. Not knowing your undertones: If you're using make-up with the wrong undertones, it'll never look natural no matter how much you blend it! An easy trick to work out whether you have cool, warm or neutral undertones is to check the veins on your wrist - if they look blue, you have cool undertones, if they're green, you have warm and if they're a mix you have neutral. Skipping heat protector: It might feel unnecessary, but much like sun damage on the skin, excess heat is the most common cause of hair damage. So, if you want shiny, healthy hair, or you're trying to grow it longer, using a heat protection product is key. Not washing your face before bed: it's as simple as this, if you're not washing your face before you go to sleep, everything that's been on your skin during the day is sitting there for even longer, clogging your pores and drying out the surface. Any skincare applied on top isn't going to be effective with a layer of dirt underneath, and you're probably going to end up with dirty pillows too - yuck!

Is your lipstick making you look older? ROSIE GREEN reveals 7 of the best anti-ageing buys - from a £6 creamy formula to a plumper that rivals lip filler

We all know the trouble of finding a good lipstick. Some smudge the second you eat something; others are barely visible 15 minutes after application; and some go all dry and flaky, giving you the dreaded crispy bacon lips. According to YOU's beauty editor Rosie Green, the task only gets trickier as you get older. 'It's one of the cruelties of ageing that as our bottoms generally get plumper, our lips only get skinnier,' she says. 'And, to add insult to injury, their moisture levels decrease, as does their natural pinkness.' This means the need for a hardworking, hydrating lip product that delivers intense colour is more important than ever. Luckily, after three decades in the industry, Green is well placed to pick the lip products that pack a punch when it comes to infusing moisture and delivering a luscious shade. Here are seven of her favourites: from a budget £6.49 lippie perfect for dry, mature lips to a plumping gloss that gives amplified assets without the need for needles. Kiko's Smart Fusion Lipstick Green says this purse-friendly lipstick is one of the best beauty buys you can pick up for under a tenner. 'It has a creamy texture that's ideal for dry lips, and it comes in 37 flattering shades, so there's sure to be one to suit your skin tone. 'There's a reason it's a staple in many make-up artist's kits.' £6.49 Shop Plump It! Volumising Lip Plumper Lots of people worry about their lips thinning as they age, but Green has a secret weapon for securing a plump pout without reaching for filler. 'A favourite of make-up artists for temporarily (and subtly) inflating pouts, Plump It!'s Volumising Plumper is a serum that works by increasing blood circulation to the lips to boost their fullness.' 'It stings,' Green admits, 'but it really works.' £22.99 Shop Clarins Lip Oil 'I love an oil/balm/gloss hybrid,' Green says, 'and Clarins' Lip Oil is ultra nourishing with a high shine that flatters mature mouths.' 'One of my favourites shades is No 10, Plum, which is great for nailing on-trend berry lips in a softer way. It just gives a hint of berry colour without being too intense – I love it!' £22.95 Shop Lisa Eldridge Velveteen Liquid Lip Colour 'Matte lip colour looks chic and has great staying power,' Green says. 'But it can also make your mouth look smaller, which isn't flattering as you get older.' 'If you prefer a matte look, opt for formulations with a sumptuous suede texture which are less cloying and drying. One of my top picks for powering up your pout is Lisa Eldridge's Velveteen, which is silky smooth and a softer take on matte.' £21 Shop Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment Looking for a gloss that looks uber natural? Rhode's Peptide Lip Treatment in strawberry glaze gives your pout a natural, youthful pinkness while also delivering a moisture hit to your skin. 'Rhode's formula is full of rejuvinating actives,' Green explains, 'which give long-lasting hydration and boos plumpness. It's created by model Hailey Bieber (who's just sold her company for a whopping $1billion), and is a huge internet hit.' £16 Shop Merit Signature Lip Matte Lightweight Lipstick Merit's Signature Lightweight Lipstick is one of Green's go-to products. When helping author Kate Mosse with a new look, she used Merit's 'beautifully pigmented lipstick' in a rich red shade, Vermillion. 'It doesn't dry the lips but it also has a matte texture, so it stays in place. I think Kate liked that it felt soft and light on her mouth.' £23 Shop
