Auburn baseball adds Eddie Madrigal, Logan Gregorio from transfer portal
The transfer portal continues to be kind to Auburn baseball as the Tigers have grabbed two more solid bats.
Former Northern Illinois ironman Logan Gregorio and ex-Saint Mary's utility player Eddie Madrigal announced their commitment to Auburn on Thursday, running Auburn's transfer portal haul to eight players.
Gregorio was the first player to announce his transfer to Auburn on Thursday. The rising senior from Naperville, Illinois announced his transfer on social media, where he thanked head coach Butch Thompson, as well as Karl Nonemaker and Everett Teaford for the opportunity. Gregorio earned all-MAC second-team honors after hitting .333 with 18 home runs and 69 RBI for the Huskies in 2025. He led the team in several categories such as average, home runs, RBI, hits, doubles, and slugging percentage.
Later in the day, Madrigal announced his intent to transfer to Auburn after spending three seasons at St. Mary's. Madrigal earned several postseason honors, including All-WCC First Team, ABCA All-West Region, and second-team All-America honors from the ABCA and NCBWA. Madrigal is viewed as the potential replacement for Cooper McMurray; however, there could be an issue as Madrigal is receiving buzz from the MLB draft. Should he elect to stay at Auburn for his final season, he would bring plenty of power to Auburn's lineup after a 2025 season that saw him hit 22 home runs and plate 79 runs while hitting .368.
Madrigal and Gregorio join a growing list of players that are set to transfer to Auburn, including UAB infielder Todd Clay, Texas State infielder Ryne Garber, and Western Kentucky pitcher Drew Whalen.

Auburn basketball locks in visit with four-star wing Alex Egbuonu
Auburn basketball is working to fill out its 2026 class, and one of its major targets has locked in a visit for November. Alex Egbuonu, a four-star wing from Groton, Massachusetts, has revealed his official visit schedule for the fall. The talented forward will visit Auburn during the weekend of Nov. 1-3, concluding his string of visits that includes Boston College, Georgetown, Florida State, Stanford, and Providence. In an interview with Dushawn London of 247Sports, Egbuonu outlined his recruitment and commitment timeline, as well as what he is looking for in a college home. "The decision will probably come sometime after Christmas," Egbuonu said. "It'll come down to development, relationships with the coaches, and just knowing who I'm going to be with for the season and making sure it's right for me and my family." Bruce Pearl and the Tigers are in a great spot to land Egbuonu, according to Rivals. Rivals gives Auburn a 14.5% chance to land the small forward from Massachusetts, behind Marquette and Xavier. What helps Auburn in this case is that Egbuonu has not scheduled an official visit to Xavier and has already visited Auburn once, unofficially. The 6-6 forward is "built like a football player with a super-powerful upper body, long arms, and good hands according to a scouting report from 247Sports' Adam Finkelstein. Expect Auburn to continue working to sign Egbuonu to be a part of what could be a great signing class for Auburn in 2026. Pearl and the Tigers are also pursuing top talent such as guards Neiko Munday and Colben Landrew, as well as forward Jalan Wingfield. 1 undeniable fact Commanders' Terry McLaurin faces in extension desire
The post 1 undeniable fact Commanders' Terry McLaurin faces in extension desire appeared first on ClutchPoints. Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin definitely knows his worth. With his desire for a hefty contract extension not going anywhere, McLaurin has requested a trade from the Commanders. McLaurin reported to training camp on Sunday to end his holdout, but did not participate physically due to an ankle injury. It has not been revealed how much the 29-year-old star is seeking in his new deal. However, according to The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala, the Commanders veteran believes his worth is similar to that of big-name pass-catchers in the league, including Pittsburgh Steelers star DK Metcalf, whose average annual salary is $33 million. Jhabvala noted that only nine wide receivers earn at least $30 million per year. 'While McLaurin could argue his production and value to the Commanders, on and off the field, exceed that of Metcalf, the Commanders can counter that Metcalf is nearly two years younger than McLaurin. The only receiver making $30 million a year who is older than 27 is Miami's Tyreek Hill, who turned 31 in March,' wrote Jhavbala. McLaurin has led Washington in receiving yards since 2019. He has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for five seasons, the most by any player in team history. Last year, he tallied a career-best 13 touchdowns and was instrumental in the squad's inspired run, reaching the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991. 'Since 2010, only 16 receivers have topped 1,000 receiving yards in a season in which they were 31 or older by September 1 of that year,' added Jhavala, citing TruMedia. In 2022, McLaurin signed a three-year deal worth an annual average of $22.79 million, which ranks 18th among current wide receivers. The two-time Pro Bowler is set to earn a base salary of $15.5 million this year. It's unclear how much interest McLaurin would get from other teams following his trade request, considering his high price tag. But with his consistent production, he'll be an asset to any offensive unit looking for extra firepower. Echeverri completes loan move to Bayer Leverkusen
Manchester City midfielder Claudio Echeverri has joined Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan deal. The Argentine teenager, 19, made three appearances for City last season, including his debut as a substitute in the FA Cup final defeat by Crystal Palace. He scored his first City goal in the 6-0 thrashing of UAE side Al-Ain at the Club World Cup in June. City signed Echeverri from River Plate for £12.5m in January 2024, but the player will now continue his development in Germany under ex-Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. "It's fantastic for me to take the next steps with the 2024 champions of Germany now in the Bundesliga and the Champions League," said Echeverri, who will wear the number nine shirt. "I want to get a lot of minutes on the pitch and develop into an even better player week by week. A lot of young players have made it to the top of the game here at Bayer Leverkusen. "I want to take that path in the coming season and play my part in helping Bayer achieve great things."
