2026 Mercedes-AMG CLA-Class Review, Pricing, and Specs
The 2026 CLA35 sedan is Mercedes-AMG's most affordable performance special, undercutting its GLA35 platform-mate by several hundred dollars. In typical AMG fashion, this little car offers more power, sharper handling, and better stability than the more pedestrian CLA thanks to its retuned turbocharged engine, firmer suspension, and standard all-wheel-drive system.
The same is true of the CLA45 S, only that model makes 416 ponies to the CLA35's 302. Both cars are sleeker and swankier than rivals like the Audi S3 and Cadillac CT4-V, but the aggressively sloping roofline is a detriment to rear-seat and cargo space.
Expert Tip: If you're after a luxury sports sedan that's more sporty than luxurious, the manual-only Acura Integra Type R is a good time, and it will save you thousands over the comparable CLA35.
What's New for 2026?
Signaling a close to this sedan's second generation, a limited-production CLA45 S Final Edition model joins the lineup for 2026. It's essentially an appearance package, with sizable '45 S' decals adorning the sides of its gunmetal-colored body and yellow accents brightening the car's interior and side mirrors.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2026 Mercedes-AMG CLA-Class is expected to start around $58,000 and go up to $76,000 depending on the trim and options.
CLA35
$58,000 (est)
CLA35 Exclusive
$60,000 (est)
CLA35 Pinnacle
$62,000 (est)
CLA45 S
$69,000 (est)
CLA45 S Exclusive
$70,000 (est)
CLA45 S Pinnacle
$72,000 (est)
CLA45 S Final Edition
$76,000 (est)
The CLA45 S is the most intense member of the CLA family, but its high base price pushes it into competition with larger, more refined sports sedans like the BMW M340i and Audi S5, so we'd stick with the CLA35 and go light on the options. We would suggest the mid-tier Exclusive trim, as it opens the door to the Driver Assistance package and adds an augmented-reality navigation system, a traffic-sign recognition system, active LED headlamps, and illuminated door-sill plates.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Engines: 302-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (CLA35); 416-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (CLA45 S)
302-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (CLA35); 416-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (CLA45 S) Transmission: 8-speed dual-clutch automatic
8-speed dual-clutch automatic Drivetrain: all-wheel drive
While both models boast the company's latest turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the CLA35 makes 302 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque while the CLA45 S develops a rousing 416 ponies and 369 pound-feet. Both models come with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the brand's 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system, which can send all of the engine's torque to the rear wheels. The CLA45 S also offers a tail-sliding Drift drive mode. Optional adaptive dampers allow drivers to adjust the ride for comfort or sporting behavior.
0–60-MPH Times
C/D 60-mph Tests: 4.4 seconds (CLA35); 3.7 seconds (CLA45)
In Comparison: At our test track, the 302-hp CLA35 managed a quick 4.4-second 60-mph time, and the CLA45—back when it made only 382 horsepower—blasted to 60 in just 3.7 seconds. We haven't put the 416-hp CLA45 S through its paces yet, but it should be slightly quicker than the old non-S variant.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
EPA City Ratings: 20-22 mpg
20-22 mpg EPA Highway Ratings: 28-29 mpg
The EPA hasn't released fuel-economy information for the 2026 Mercedes-AMG CLA-Class yet, but the 2025 CLA35 earned ratings of 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, while the CLA45 S returned 20 and 28 mpg, respectively. We expect the 2026 CLA-Class will post identical numbers.
For reference, compared to the much less powerful Mercedes-Benz CLA250 with all-wheel drive, the CLA35 incurs a 6-mpg penalty on the highway. Its 29-mpg rating, however, is similar to what competitors such as the Audi S3 and BMW M235i Gran Coupe see. For more information about the CLA-Class's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
First Row: Mercedes gives shoppers several seating options to make the CLA's cockpit-like cabin their own. You can spec bright red or sage green leather upholstery, aluminum or wood trim, and the brand's multicontour seats (with or without ventilation functions). No matter how you build it, the front seats are pleasantly spacious.
Second Row: There's limited headroom in the second row due to the car's sloping roofline. Legroom is also tight, and amenities aren't as generous in the rear seat, but at least there are dedicated rear-seat air vents on the back of the center console.
Cargo Capacity: The AMG CLAs provide 11.6 cubic feet of cargo space, enough to house a couple of overnight bags or an average grocery haul. The rear seat also folds down in case you need to haul additional cargo.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Infotainment: 10.3-inch touchscreen
10.3-inch touchscreen Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility
Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility Audio System: 12-speaker Burmester stereo
The CLA35 and CLA45 S are equipped with Mercedes-Benz's MBUX infotainment system, which the driver can control via finicky capacitive buttons on the steering wheel or with the console-mounted touchpad. The digital instrument-cluster screen and the standard 10.3-inch infotainment display live under one large horizontal piece of glass and take up much of the dash. Bluetooth connectivity and a 12-speaker Burmester sound system are provided, as is wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
The CLA-Class is available with driver-assistance features that can help keep you out of harm's way during your travels.
Standard Safety Features: automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, auto high-beam headlights

For information about the CLA's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Mercedes, unlike some of its luxury competitors, doesn't include complimentary maintenance, but it offers comparable warranty coverage on the CLA.
Limited Warranty: four years or 50,000 miles
four years or 50,000 miles Powertrain Warranty: four years or 50,000 miles

374-Foot-Long COSMOS Launches A New Era Of Superyacht Design And Construction
As a writer, my goal is to simply capture the essence of each new superyacht that gets launched by sharing my feelings, opinions, and observations and insider knowledge too so you all can get a better understanding of just how much work, passion, money, time and artistry goes into each new superyacht that gets launched. But, when it comes to capturing the essence of where the future of superyacht design can go, my words might pale in comparison to the images of the 374-foot-long COSMOS that Lürssen just launched in Germany. In fact, Lürssen Group CEO Peter Lürssen is probably better at describing COSMOS than I am too. 'This is a rather special project to coincide with our 150th anniversary,' he says. 'While it is true that as a custom shipyard, no two yachts that leave our halls are ever the same, there are some that leave an indelible mark on our history – COSMOS is undoubtedly one of those yachts.' And thanks to COSMOS's courageous and visionary owner's desire to create something truly unique, her inspired architectural and interior design by Marc Newson has already set a new benchmark when it comes to superyacht design and construction. Marc Newson brought a fresh and daring perspective to the design that's culminated in a sleek, sculptural and futuristic superyacht that's unlike anything else. 'Working with an immensely creative client has enabled rare opportunities to push the boundaries,' Marc Newson comments. 'Everything from the smallest detail to the silhouette – outside, inside, and everything in between – is our design. We have, therefore, been able to exploit and explore every creative possibility uninhibited. This liberating free rein afforded the project a joyful, organic evolution, one which resulted in a satisfying novelty and coherence, the aesthetic of which remains very much within our lexicon.' One of the features that made me say 'Wow' to myself when I first saw COSMOS's glass-domed owner's study. The study is quite feat of glass engineering developed by Lürssen that required them to bend large sections of thick glass, free of imperfections and with crystal clarity, to create the 360-degree panoramic views from atop the yacht. The glass theme is maybe even more noticeable on the cabin deck, where a continuous glass band surrounds the entire upper level of the yacht. The glass-encased observation lounge located forward in the bow beneath the helipad is an innovatively distinctive design flex. While the open aft deck seamlessly blends the luxury of a swimming pool and Jacuzzi with lots of comfortable space for sunbathing. Since COSMOS is also engineered for long-range, remote cruising the hull is reinforced to Ice Class 1D, enabling safe operation in light ice conditions. The owner is also committed to innovation, so COSMOS is also going to be used to a research installation of a methanol fuel cell that uses methanol to produce hydrogen, which is then converted into electricity. I told you a picture is worth a 1,000 words, right? Well, in the case of COSMOS, yes. But, not necessarily when it comes to an in-depth interview with Lürssen Group CEO Peter Lürssen. Stay tuned to read my upcoming 'Superyacht Influencer Interview' with him soon.

Ansys collaborates with Nvidia to embed Omniverse in simulation solutions
Ansys, a unit of Synopsys, has entered into an agreement with Nvidia to incorporate Nvidia Omniverse technology into its autonomous vehicle simulation solutions. This integration will commence with Ansys' computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and autonomous vehicle solutions, providing customers with direct access to Omniverse's technologies as well as libraries. The collaboration aims to enhance the understanding of vehicle aerodynamics, improve autonomous vehicle safety, and contribute to the development of 6G connectivity. The technology of Ansys leverages Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) for integration with Omniverse, facilitating accessible workflows across various simulation applications. The agreement also makes sure that diverse computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools can work together, providing a unified workflow essential for large-scale CFD applications. Engineers will benefit from the ability to visualise fluid dynamics in realistic digital environments, which aids in the intuitive analysis of complex data and accelerates the design optimisation process. Furthermore, the integration provides 'high-fidelity outputs' that streamline the development, training, testing, and validation of autonomous systems, enhancing their reliability and safety. Additionally, PyAnsys, a suite of Python packages, offers users the flexibility to customise and automate simulations within their applications built on Nvidia Omniverse, noted Ansys. In March 2025, Magna, a mobility technology company, announced a partnership with Nvidia to create AI-driven solutions for the next generation of software-defined vehicles, focusing on intelligence and autonomy. "Ansys collaborates with Nvidia to embed Omniverse in simulation solutions" was originally created and published by Just Auto, a GlobalData owned brand. The GP1 Looks Like a Greatest Hits Album of Analog Supercars
The latest car news, reviews, and features. A British outfit called Garagisti & Co. is making some waves this week with gorgeous renderings of its super-limited, super-expensive hypercar called the GP1. The design is supposed to be inspired by 'icons of the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s,' and the spirit is all old-school sports driving awesomeness. Non-turbo V12, six-speed manual, rear-wheel drive, and an interior like a midcentury modern psychiatrist's office. Or maybe I'm just projecting that last bit—because it looks like driving this thing would be deeply therapeutic after being bombarded by screens in any other modern vehicle. The car looks complete in these images, and looking at them on a small screen, I thought they were photos at first myself. But the company's press release confirms that they are, in fact, digital renders. Garagisti & Co. states that the car is 'now in advanced stages of engineering and production.' I'm guessing the company's people wanted to roll out the idea to be part of the hypercar hype-wave that is Monterey Car Week, which is currently underway. Unfortunately, few of us will ever see one of these in person anywhere, let alone drive it, as the GP1's creators are only planning to make 25 and charging over $3.3 million (£2.45 million, to be exact) each. Still, it's a very pretty interior and exterior design that simultaneously looks unique while reminding me of a few different cars in the elite class of low-production performance machines. I see a lot of Ford GT, some Lamborghini, Lancia, some Ferrari … any elements look particularly familiar to you? Garagisti & Co. has some big-name supplier collaborators, like Brembo (brakes), Öhlins (suspension), and Xtrac (transmission). But the fact that it's making a 'completely new and bespoke' engine is exceptionally wild. And probably a big part of why the price is so high. I think it's madness to make an entirely custom engine just for 25 cars—how the heck is anybody supposed to find parts for this in five years? Very cool, extremely impractical. I guess that's what cars at this level are kind of all about, though. Garagisti & Co. The V12 will have 6.6 liters of displacement, rev to 9,000 rpm, and claim 800 horsepower (and 'over' 516 lb-ft of torque). Since the car is only supposed to weigh 2,200 pounds (dry), that should be enough juice to enter orbit. It's not clear where the motor's at in development, but conceptually, it sounds awesome. So does the ethos behind the whole project. 'Our vision for Garagisti was born from a simple question,' said Garagisti & Co. co-founder Mario Escudero in a press release. 'What if the golden age of analogue supercars never ended? What if icons like the Countach Evoluzione had sparked a lineage rather than a dead-end? What would the great cars of the '80s, '90s and early 2000s look like today if they'd evolved with new technology but kept their analogue soul? We brought together some of the best minds in the world and answered that question with our hands, our hearts, and our passion. The GP1 is our answer.' Swipe through here to see some more renders of this magnificent beast: The company describes itself as 'a coalition of specialists, not generalists,' listing out key collaborators: I like this trend of super-fancy cars leaning into the ideas of tactility and analoginess. Here's hoping the notion trickles back down to more basic brands and old-world warmth makes a comeback over the kitchen appliance aesthetic so many mid-range cars are leaning into these days.
