Afropop star Mthunzi set to light up Sunday Loving at Lumo Lounge
Best known for his collaboration with Kabza De Small on the chart-topping EP Isimo, Njabulo 'Mthunzi' Ndimande has carved out a space as one of the most compelling voices in the South African music scene. The project raked in more than 40-million streams across digital platforms, with the standout hit Imithandazo becoming a global fan favourite.
In an interview, Mthunzi reflected on his musical journey and how his passion was sparked at an early age. 'I started singing when I was just three years old. My mom noticed my love for music early on and has supported me ever since,' said the artist, who hails from Hammarsdale in KwaZulu-Natal.
The Sunday Loving event promises fans an intimate night of live music and vibes. Organisers say Mthunzi's performance will be a key highlight.
Lucky Mpilo of Lumo Lounge told TshisaLIVE: 'We are excited to have a mega artist such as Mthunzi in our establishment. His fans are in for a treat. It's going to be the best Sunday for our patrons.'
With his blend of heartfelt lyrics and genre-blurring sound, Mthunzi's set is expected to be nothing short of magical.

Embracing Tamil heritage: Sadie Kandan's cultural mission

Image: Supplied WHEN Sadie Kandan returns from a two week sponsored cultural tour of Tamil Nadu in India, she intends to impart her knowledge to youth to "foster a sense of belonging to Tamil culture". Kandan, 25, from Tongaat, is a marketing manager, and the secretary of the Shree Veeraboga Emperumal Temple. She is also an executive member of the South African Hindu Maha Sabha. Kandan was recently selected by the Tamil Nadu Government to participate in a cultural programme across the state. It is aimed at showcasing the rich tapestry of Tamil civilisation. Next Stay Close ✕ Kandan said her family had attended the Shree Veeraboga Emperumal Temple since she was a baby, and that her faith was unwavering. 'As a baby, my grandmother used to take me to the temple for prayers and various festivals. This is when my love for religion and culture began. Later, my guru actively involved me in prayer. This included preparing and performing prayers," said Kandan. She said she was also part of the temple's Sunday school and this was where her love for music and dance started. "Tradition and culture are essential because they provide a sense of identity, belonging, and continuity. While growing up in a South Indian family, I have been influenced by our rich cultural heritage. Our traditions, such as celebrating Pongal and Tamil New Year, have taught me the importance of community, respect for elders, and gratitude for nature's bounty. "The Tamil culture's emphasis on language, literature, and art has also shaped my perspective and appreciation for the world. The works of great Tamil poets and philosophers, like Thiruvalluvar and Bharathi, have inspired me to embrace values like compassion, justice, and self-discipline. 'For me, tradition and culture are not just about rituals or customs. They are about the values, stories, and experiences that have been passed down through generations. They remind me of my roots and help me stay connected to my community. By embracing and honouring my Tamil heritage, I feel a sense of pride, purpose, and responsibility to carry forward these traditions in a way that respects the past while embracing the present.' Kandan said it was an honour to be part of the cultural programme, which entailed visiting temples and ancestral villages and attending music and dance festivals. "I hope to gain as much knowledge as possible to impart to others when I return. There is a lot one can gain from such a program such as understanding the history and traditions from the villages and developing a further sense of understanding of Tamil culture. 'By learning about their cultural and religious heritage, younger generations can gain a deeper understanding of their roots, traditions, and community. This knowledge helps them develop a sense of pride, self-awareness, and appreciation for the diversity that makes our world richer. 'Moreover, these values often emphasise the importance of community, family, and social harmony, which are vital for creating a more compassionate and inclusive society. By teaching these values to the younger generation, we can empower them to become thoughtful, engaged, and active citizens who are equipped to make a positive impact in the world.' She said by taking small steps to learn about and celebrate one's heritage, one could unlock a more authentic and fulfilling life. The POST

Female fans crush on single Siya Kolisi after Rachel's crying post
Siya Kolisi has attracted a flurry of attention from female admirers after the Springboks returned to his hometown of Gqeberha. The captain of the South African rugby team is newly single after splitting from his former wife, Rachel Kolisi, last October. Although the Springbok captain sat out the game against Italy over an injury 'niggle', Siya Kolisi kept himself busy in the lead up to the game by spending time with friends and family in his hometown of Gqeberha. Will Andile Mpisane play for mom's new soccer club?
Andile Mpisane has fueled rumours he may advance his soccer career at eSwatini club, Mbalane Highlanders, which his mother, MaMkhize – real name Shauwn Mkhize – was recently named president of. The move comes months after the businesswoman's South African club, Royal AM, was expelled from the PSL amid her R40 million SARS tax evasion scandal. Although the club has adopted many elements of Royal AM, MaMkhize does not own the Swati counterpart. Over the weekend, MaMkhize confirmed that she was the new president of Mbalane Highlanders FC, which had been rebranded Mbalande Highlanders AM FC. The inclusion of the word 'AM' – Andilie Mpisane's initials – fuelled rumours that her son may be more than just a supporter of the football club. Andile and his wife Tamia accompanied MaMkhize to the club's announcement, with the former even cutting the ribbon to the 'new and improved' team. Andile Mpisane stoked the flames by reposting a clip of the announcement on his Instagram Story with his football catchphrase 'Expensive 10'. The number 10 was Andile's football jersey number at Royal AM, where he was both a player and a chairman. Rumours that Andile Mpisane may have a starring role in Mbalane Highlanders AM FC, possibly thanks to his mother, comes as no surprise. In 2023, MaMkhize defended her 'talented' son's soccer abilities. Speaking to Andile Ncube on his Metro FM show, Sports Night Amplified, the businesswoman insinuated that her luxury car-collecting son deserved a spot on the squad.
