King Charles' 'hunky' kilt-wearing aide marries again in 'low-key ceremony'

Daily Mirror2 days ago

King Charles' equerry Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, who is often seen at the King's side and has won over a legion of online fans, has married for the second time, it has emerged
He has won over a legion of fans after never being far from King Charles ' side at some of his most high-profile appearances. Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson has become known as the 'hunky' equerry after catching the eye of royal fans while on duty with both the King and Queen Camilla in his trademark kilt.
And now it has emerged he has tied the knot for a second time, months after becoming engaged to PR executive Olivia Lewis. It emerged last year that the soldier, who is from the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, had struck up a romance with Olivia after he split from his first wife several years ago.

And according to the Mail On Sunday, the pair tied the knot just over a week ago in an 'elegant' and 'low-key' ceremony at St Mary's Church in Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire, which was followed by a lunch hosted by the bride's parents. However, it seems it was shortly back to work after the big day as just two days later, the equerry was spotted in Canada with the King and Queen on their whistlestop visit across the Atlantic.
It emerged that the equerry had found love with Olivia last year after around a year of dating, with the pair being described as "well matched and very happy" at the time. Their engagement was later announced in The Times with the happy news coming just months after he won a promotion to become Charles' 'super equerry'.
Lt Col Thompson is now in a new role, which is seeing him stay on to work with both the King and Queen and be in charge of the monarch's private affairs - but unfortunately for fans, this will mean he won't be seen as much with the royals in public.
Equerries are drawn from the armed forces and are required to assist the royals both inside their residences and when out and about on public engagements.
This means he has been at the King's side ever since his reign began and played a prominent role at the late Queen's funeral, the Coronation and also won over a new set of fans across the English Channel when he accompanied Charles and Camilla on their trip to France in 2023.

He was also seen sitting behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at a service to mark the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee last year. Also, he welcomed former Prime Minster Rishi Sunak as he visited Buckingham Palace to see the King.
One fan previously wrote on X: "Major Jonny Thompson is a tremendous hunk!" While another one said: "I think I'm getting a wee crush on King Charles's new royal equerry."
He also earned the attention of society bible Tatler magazine, which praised his ability to "look as good in a suit as he goes in a kilt." It explained: "It is from within the palace walls that the King's equerry wields his unique brand of quiet, charming power; but he's spotted where it counts, at the coronation, or on the opening night of the Berntson Bhattacharjee Gallery in Fitzrovia, for example, to which he wore a bunny tie and charmed India Rose James."

Co-op band marks 150th jubilee of West Calder pioneers

West Calder Co-operative Society, one of the pioneers of the Co-op in Scotland, marks its 150th anniversary this year with a free concert by an award winning brass band. The Co-operation Brass Band, founded in 1918 among Co-op employees in Glasgow, will play in West Calder High School on Friday 20 June to mark the jubilee. The concert, which starts at 7pm, has been organised by West Calder and Harburn Community Development Trust which is leading the creation of The Scottish Co-operative Discovery Centre, a heritage site based in the village. The concert has been sponsored by Muirhall Energy and tickets are free. A drone's eye views shows the scale of the refurbishment and the size of the former Co-op premises in West Calder. Work is under way to transform the building into a national heritage site celebrating West Calder's role The award-winning Co-operation Band was founded in the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Societies factories in Shieldhall, Glasgow in 1918. It has gone on to win the Scottish Championships 37 times over the years. Recently they represented Scotland at the European Brass Band Championships held in Stavanger, Norway. Work is well under way to refurbish and re-purpose the former Co-op Bakery in West Calder into a heritage centre which celebrates the pioneering development of the national Co-op movement in the village. The West Calder Society was established in 1875 by a group of shale miners and went on to become one of the most successful regional co-ops in Scotland. It became part of the Scotmid group in 1982. Gavin Henderson, Chairman of the Trust said 'We're very excited to have secured The Co-operation Band to play for the community this year. The band played at West Calder Co-ops 50th Jubilee celebrations in June 1925, and it feels very special that they'll be here to play again 100 years later'. You can get your tickets online at Trybooking (West Calder Co-operative Society). Alternatively, tickets can be picked up at West Calder Community Hub or the Wee Museum of Memory in Livingston Shopping Centre (opposite H Samuels). Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon is tempted to do Celebrity Big Brother

Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon is tempted to do Celebrity Big Brother The 'Coronation Street' actress felt encouraged to do the ITV reality show after her soap co-star Jack P. Shepherd - who won the 2025 series of the programme - dubbed it as a "great experience" Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria Windass, in the ITV soap (Image: PR Pics ) Samia Longchambon may do 'Celebrity Big Brother'. The 'Coronation Street' actress felt encouraged to do the ITV reality show after her soap co-star Jack P. Shepherd - who won the 2025 series of the programme - dubbed it as a "great experience". ‌ The star, who plays Maria Connor on the cobbles, is quoted by Best magazine as saying: "Jack said he had a lot of fun. ‌ "He told us, 'If anyone wants to do it, I'd say go ahead. It's a great experience.' "So, I'd never say never, but at the moment life is pretty busy so I'm just trying to pace myself." Samia has two children - daughter Freya, 15, with her ex-husband Matt Smith and son Yves, nine, who she has with current husband Sylvain Longchambon after they met when paired together on 'Dancing on Ice' in 2013 - and revealed that her eldest will only watch 'Corrie' if Maria is involved in scenes with her on-screen son Liam Connor, who is played by Freya's friend Charlie Wrenshall. Article continues below The 42-year-old actress said: "Freya tends to watch if I've got scenes with Charlie Wrenshall who plays my son Liam, because they're really good mates. "She's more interested in what Charlie is doing than what I'm doing! "Yves isn't that bothered. He's more interested in watching cartoons and YouTube." ‌ This year marks 25 years since Samia first stepped onto the famed cobbles of Weatherfield - the fictional town in Salford, Greater Manchester, where 'Coronation Street' is set - and she never imagined her job on the ITV soap would have lasted for a quarter of a century. Asked what she would have thought if someone told her back in 2000 that Samia would be on the show for 25 years, she admitted: "I wouldn't have believed them. "I'd have been happy, but it would have been overwhelming to know that and quite incomprehensible. ‌ "I never take this job for granted. "I'm grateful to be here." Samia's character has been involved in plenty of catfights over the years on 'Coronation Street', but the actress got hurt in a scene that saw Maria embroiled in a fiery fight with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) after Kate accidentally yanked her hair. Article continues below Samia told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I remember Tracy threatened to rip out Maria's hair extensions. I don't have hair extensions, but Kate Ford (Tracy) properly went for it, pulling my hair. "We do have good fight coordinators, but I am not going to lie, that did hurt."
