Al-Hilal were reportedly ready to pay United a £100million fee.
However, Fernandes, 30, insisted that he wants to remain in Europe and play at the 'top level'.
And while his decision could cost him hundreds of millions of pounds, latest accounts for his image rights firm show he has tucked away £8million in off-pitch earnings.
Paperwork covering the 2023/24 season shows the attacker has piled up £8.3million in BF8 Sports Limited, the firm he used for off-field pay.

Man Utd star rejects transfer offer and told he will 'never play for a big club'
Jadon Sancho has rejected a transfer approach to leave Manchester United and been told he will 'never play for a big club again'. The former England winger was hoping to earn a permanent move to Chelsea after being sent on loan to Stamford Bright last season. Chelsea had a £25m option to keep Sancho but instead decided to pay a £5m penalty to send him back to Old Trafford. Ruben Amorim has no plans to reintegrate Sancho into a first-team squad which is preparing for Sunday's Premier League opener against Arsenal. Sancho has been in talks with a number of Serie A clubs but received another transfer option this week in the form of Besiktas. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. The Turkish club's president Serdal Adali said: 'Just as much as the community wants him, I want him too. What matters is not only our desire, but also if the player wants to come to Turkey. 'We have a budget, and we will do our best to bring him here. Players like Jadon Sancho usually prefer clubs playing in the Champions League. 'Whether it happens today or not, it is hard to say. If it is possible, we will get him. Besiktas fans can rest assured.' But, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sancho has rejected a reunion with former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in Turkey. The 25-year-old is believed to be holding out for a move to Italy and has therefore rejected Besiktas' advances, though his stance may change if he is still searching for a new club as the transfer deadline approaches. Manchester United are hoping to sell Sancho for around £20m, which would represent a massive loss on a player they signed for £73m in 2021. Ex-Old Trafford striker Teddy Sheringham believes Sancho's hopes of joining another 'big club' are slim following his recent struggles. The best moments of Sancho's career came across two spells at Borussia Dortmund but the Bundesliga club have ruled out another move this summer. Sancho did help Chelsea qualify for the Champions League and win the Conference League last season but his individual performances were largely underwhelming. 'Jadon Sancho will definitely not play for a big club ever again,' United hero Sheringham told Snabbare. 'He will probably tell you that he can and he will but not for me. 'I see that he's burned his bridges with the manager. He's not even got a place in the changing room. 'Maybe if he'd be given another chance he could work for what Amorim wants but I know from experience once you've gone down that path of being unhappy and wanting out that it's very hard to turn it around with the manager, with the supporters, with the other players. 'You've got to show an unbelievable mental desire to turn that around. It can be done, and I know he's a talented lad, but I would be very, very surprised if that was the case now.' Sancho is not the only member of Amorim's 'bomb squad' this summer, with United also hoping to sell Alejandro Garnacho and Antony. Rasmus Hojlund, meanwhile, is free to leave following the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. AC Milan are interested in the Denmark international. Hojlund has spent two underwhelming seasons at Old Trafford but Sheringham sympathises with the 22-year-old. 'I like his battling qualities, his endeavour and his desire,' Sheringham added. 'That's what is needed when things are going tough. More Trending 'But for me, he hasn't had the service. If he was missing four chances a game, you'd look at him and go, how can he still carry on playing? 'But he's not. He's having one chance every three games and snatching at it and not scoring. You can't feed off things like that as a striker. 'You need to be having those four chances and grabbing two of them then getting your confidence from there. I really feel for him. I think it's harsh to criticise him given the way that Manchester United play.' It remains to be seen whether Hojlund will still be a United player by the time Arsenal travel to Old Trafford for a mouth-watering Premier League opener on Sunday. Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard warned he could be replaced by £68m target
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has been warned he could be replaced by Mikel Arteta's £68m transfer target Eberechi Eze. The Gunners are interested in signing England international Eze from Crystal Palace before the summer transfer window closes. Eze has been one of the most exciting players in the Premier League in recent years and helped Palace win the FA Cup last season. The 27-year-old has earned 11 caps for England since making his international debut in 2023 and featured for the Three Lions at last summer's Euros. While Arsenal want to sign Eze, who has a £68m release clause which expires on Friday, they face competition from north London rivals Tottenham, who have also expressed interest in a deal. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. Speaking after Crystal Palace won the Community Shield on Sunday, Steve Parish gave interested parties hope of signing Eze and Marc Guehi, who is closing in on a move to Liverpool. Ex-England striker and Arsenal fan Darren Bent hopes the Gunners secure a deal and says Eze should favour a move to the red half of north London. 'I'm shocked he's still at Crystal Palace if I'm honest,' Bent said on talkSPORT. 'He is such a talented footballer and he's great to watch. 'You would think there would be more clubs interested in him given his release clause. I'm hoping this gives Arsenal the kick they need to go and get him. 'If you're looking at Arsenal and Tottenham, yes Spurs won a trophy last season and are in the Champions League, but they finished fourth from bottom last year. 'In my opinion Arsenal are in a better place to move forward.' Eze would likely replace Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on Arsenal's left wing but Bent says he could also play as a ten ahead of Odegaard. Not so long ago Odegaard was Arsenal's most important player but he endured a poor 2024-25 campaign, with Bent insisting his form was 'not good enough'. 'With Odegaard, he's got to look himself in the mirror,' Bent added. 'I'm a big fan of his and I've sat on this show before and argued the case that he's as good as Bruno Fernandes. 'Last season there was no argument, Bruno was head and shoulders above him. I don't know what's happened since the ankle injury but he just hasn't looked the same. Asked directly about Eze in a news conference before Wednesday's Uefa Super Cup against Paris St-Germain, Frank said: 'I think there are a lot of good players out there. 'There are also a few from the PSG team but I don't think we can buy them right now. 'In general, players in or players out, I always speaking about something that is done or not done. In general, I will speak about my own players.' 'Even in pre-season he hasn't looked anywhere near the Odegaard we saw a couple of years ago. Six goals in all comps last season and 11 assists, it wasn't good enough for him, not good enough at all. 'Ethan Nwaneri could be the natural successor. Otherwise you're scratching around and wondering who could play in that position. 'I think if Arsenal were to go and sign Eze from Crystal Palace, then you've got an option there because he can play No. 10 or he can play off the left. 'That will put Odegaard under more pressure because at the minute he's the captain but he's not really being challenged or pushed, he's almost coasting through games at the minute. More Trending 'He has to start the season well. Something's happened with him, I don't know if it's still the injury or something else, but he's got to get back to the Odegaard we know.' Arsenal, who face Manchester United on Sunday in their Premier League opener, could look to offload Trossard, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira before going for Eze. With Eze contracted to Crystal Palace until the summer of 2027, the Eagles will demand around £68m to sell even after his buy-out clause expires. Signing Eze would take Arsenal's summer spending beyond £250m, with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke joining Arteta's squad. Man Utd ‘hand Antony ultimatum to accept transfer offer this week or rot in stands as Real Betis hold out for loan deal'
Antony becomes the second Man Utd winger that could spend months away from the pitch this season DEAL WITH THE DEVILS Man Utd 'hand Antony ultimatum to accept transfer offer this week or rot in stands as Real Betis hold out for loan deal' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly handed Antony an ultimatum as they try and move the Brazilian on this summer. Antony is no longer part of the plans at Old Trafford after failing to impress following his £86million move from Ajax in 2022. Since then, Betis have been keen to re-sign the tricky winger, but don't appear to have the funds to make a permanent transfer happen at United's asking price. Reports in Spain claim that Antony is keen to move back to Betis too, but that the La Liga club have only discussed the idea of a loan switch rather than a permanent transfer. According to Spanish outlet Al Final de la Palmera, that has led Man Utd to hand Antony an ultimatum in order to prevent him waiting until the end of the window to force through a loan. Antony has been linked with a host of clubs this summer, including a switch to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. Manchester United declined to comment when approached by SunSport about the claims.
