Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 70

USA Today2 days ago
Junior Tafa and Tuco Tokkos meet Saturday in the main card opener of UFC on ESPN 70 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.
Last event: 2-3
UFC main cards, 2025: 64-48-1
Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos UFC on ESPN 70 preview
Tafa (6-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) moves down to light heavyweight as he looks to get back to .500 in the UFC. Despite winning his last fight by knockout against Sean Sharaf in October, Tafa makes the switch from heavyweight to 205 pounds. ... Tokkos (10-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) is hunting for his first UFC win. His debut was last May against Oumar Sy, which was a quick one he lost by submission in the first round. His sophomore appearance was a decision loss against Navajo Stirling.
Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos UFC on ESPN 70 expert pick, prediction
Despite UFC 317 recently reminding us of the value of card formatting and building around the actually good weight classes like the lighter divisions, Mick Maynard and Sean Shelby continue to force-feed us low-level big men on Fight Night cards like it's some kind of fetish for them.
I mean, I can't even say that this matchup between Junior Tafa and Tuco Tokkos will be fun for as long as it lasts, because it probably won't be fun at all and will likely go a lot longer than we want it to (which, I know, is starting sound like a personal problem at this point, but I digress).
It should be noted that Tafa is dropping down from heavyweight for this fight, so it will at least be nice to see him finally competing in his more natural weight class.
Although Tokkos potentially stymying Tafa via a grappling attack for three frames is a real possibility here (and almost a karmic one given the UFC matchmaker's propensity to tempt fate with their terrible card formatting), I'll reluctantly pick Tafa to survive the wrestling attempts en route to a knockout win in Round 2.
Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos UFC on ESPN 70 odds
The oddsmakers and the public are favoring the Australian fighter, listing Tafa -180 and Tokkos +140 via FanDuel.
Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos UFC on ESPN 70 start time, how to watch
As the main card opener, Tafa and Tokkos are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 9:10 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts live on ESPN and ESPN+.

According to the president has spent 38 days golfing from his inauguration until at least June 21. The same day Trump attended the FIFA Club World Cup final, he boasted on Truth Social about winning the member-member championship at his club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Infantino was part of the large group that accompanied Trump on his first foreign trip this term to the Middle East, and he visited the White House, Pro Soccer Wire reported. FIFA recently announced it will open a new office in Trump Tower in New York City. Arman Tsarukyan excited to see Khamzat Chimaev fulfill UFC title goal: 'He looks sharp'

Arman Tsarukyan is a part of Khamzat Chimaev's UFC 319 training camp. Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) challenges middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis (23-2 MMA, 9-0 UFC) in the Aug. 16 main event at United Center in Chicago (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+). He is already in the United States, and is spending his training camp in California prepping with the likes of Tsarukyan, and strength and conditioning coach Sam Calavitta. Top lightweight contender Tsarukyan (22-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) lost a grappling match to Chimaev last December, but the pair have since linked up to train together. "He looks sharp, so (I'm) excited to see him as a UFC champion," Tsarukyan said of Chimaev in a video posted by the JAXXON Podcast. "So far, his camp is going well. He's healthy. He has a lot of energy, and I'm just here to help him. Whatever they need: If they need the wrestling, I'll wrestle. If they need striking, I'll strike. I'm here to help, and I want him to be a UFC champ." Chimaev will finally get an opportunity to realize UFC gold after storming through the welterweight and middleweight ranks. He earned his title shot after submitting former champion Robert Whittaker in the first round at UFC 308.

Bronny James Reveals His Expectations For The Lakers Next Season

Bronny James Reveals His Expectations For The Lakers Next Season originally appeared on Fadeaway World. After an encouraging rookie campaign, Bronny James is eager to continue his NBA career with the Lakers. This past season, they made it to the first round of the playoffs, but Bronny says they can do better in the 2025-26 campaign. Advertisement 'Obviously, being on the team, I think we're going to come back even better than we were last year,' Bronny said, via ESPN's Dave McMenamin. 'We just got to come in here and come in the gym with a purpose and be ready to work every day and be ready to get better every day.' As the son of an NBA legend, Bronny's path to the NBA was not the typical one. Unlike many of his peers, he was born under the spotlight and grew accustomed to the celebrity lifestyle at an early age. Of course, James did his best to prepare Bronny with years of guidance, parenting, and setting the example on the court. Despite modest averages in college (4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists over 25 games), Bronny was able to earn his place on the Lakers, thanks to the endorsement of his dad, who did everything in his power to make his dream a reality. Since being drafted 55th overall in 2024, James has been a permanent member of the Lakers, and he's been working to develop his game and find a place in the rotation. Last season, between the G-League and NBA, Bronny showed flashes of greatness, but he put up modest stats with a stat line of 2.7 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game on 31.3% shooting. Advertisement Working closely with JJ Redick and the coaching staff, Bronny was given a lot of care and attention last season, and the Lakers are hoping it will pay off as early as next year. Bronny, 20, is likely to be a part of the team's rotation next season as he settles into the backup point guard role. It remains to be seen how James' game will improve, but he fully expects the Lakers to take a step up in the West. After finishing third in the standings (50-32), Los Angeles is limited in their potential moves this summer, but they still managed to pick up some interesting players, including Adou Thiero, Eric Dixon, and Jake LaRavia. Most importantly, the Lakers were able to sign Deandre Ayton on a two-year deal. Ayton's arrival gives LA the center it desperately needed while providing Luka Doncic with the kind of rim-running big man he's thrived with his whole career. With the new roster, deeper chemistry, and more experience for JJ Redick, Bronny feels comfortable expecting a leap from the Lakers next season, and he fully expects to be competing in the spring. Advertisement As rumors swirl regarding his dad's loyalties, Bronny is ignoring all the noise and keeping his head focused on the work. With so much to prove in the NBA, Bronny James isn't out to make headlines, and he's not trying to make friends. He wants to win at the highest level and is willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.
