Alex Pereira issues $200,000 charity challenge to Magomed Ankalaev ahead of UFC 313
Pereira (12-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC) defends his title against Ankalaev (20-1-1 MMA, 11-1-1 UFC) in Saturday's UFC 313 headliner at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPNews/Disney+, ESPN+).
Pereira issued a challenge to Ankalaev, where the winner of their fight will have to donate $200,000 to a charity of the other's choosing.
'Since you are so confident you will win, $200,000 to the winners charity of choice. Win or lose this will help those in need. It's in your hands @AliAbdelaziz00 @AnkalaevM.'

'Poatan' elaborated on the challenge in a video on his Instagram.
Ankalaev, who will fight Pereira while fasting during the month of Ramadan, said he plans on responding to the challenge tomorrow.
'SalamuAlaykum we will answer tomorrow, Ramadan Mubarak .'

Kamaru Usman dismisses short-notice talk in Khamzat Chimaev loss, gives UFC champ credit
Kamaru Usman was all class in addressing the criticism surrounding Khamzat Chimaev's close win over him. Chimaev (15-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) dominated and outgrappled Dricus Du Plessis (23-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) to claim the middleweight title in Saturday's UFC 319 headliner at United Center in Chicago. Usman was one of the few fighters to pick Chimaev to win. So how good is Usman? That's a thought that emerged through many people's minds after the former welterweight champion pushed Chimaev to the brink on just days' notice in a majority decision loss at middleweight in October 2023. "Let's address this, the whole, 'Oh you took the fight on this days' notice.' Listen, at the end of the day, I know who I am as a fighter, and the way I approach this game, and so does Khamzat Chimaev," Usman said on his "Pound 4 Pound" podcast with Henry Cejudo. "At the end of the day, it was still a loss on my side and it was a win for Khamzat Chimaev. 'Oh, you should feel this way.' No, it was an 'L.' I don't feel any sort or type of way. "It was an 'L,' and there's a mutual respect there because each and every fight that we go into as fighters, you don't know what we're dealing with. You don't know what he was dealing with, you don't know what I was dealing with. It looked the way it did. Styles make fights. I'm a much different style than these guys are, and I say it all the time: You don't know until you get in there. Khamzat did his best that he could to get the win and he got that win. So let's give him that credit and let's move on." After losing to Chimaev, Usman (21-4 MMA, 16-3 UFC) returned from an 20-month layoff to snap the winning streak of Joaquin Buckley in the UFC on ESPN 69 headliner in June.

Rich Eisen pays tribute to former SportsCenter co-anchor Stuart Scott
Come for the nostalgia. Stay for the feels. Longtime viewers of ESPN's SportsCenter likely have fond memories of Rich Eisen and Stuart Scott teaming up on the nightly broadcasts decades ago. The pair had undeniable chemistry together, and that chemistry was reflected in their friendship both on- and off-camera. So when Eisen made his return to the SportsCenter desk for the first time in 22 years on Monday, Aug. 18, he made sure the viewers felt Scott's presence as much as he did. Along with some throwback graphics, the broadcast included a montage of Scott-Eisen moments from their past broadcasts and ESPN commercials. Scott died January 4, 2015, at the age of 49 following a seven-year battle with appendiceal cancer. "I frequently think of Stuart -- a lot -- and what he might think of the sports headlines of the day. Like say, Bill Belichick being the head coach of his beloved school," Eisen noted, referencing Scott's alma mater, North Carolina. "We used to host SportsCenters after LeBron's high school games, so what would Stuart think of James still playing at age 40?" he continued. And he mused what it might be like if Scott were still around to join the "Inside the NBA" crew of Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Snaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley when they move to ESPN this fall. "I miss Stuart so very much," Eisen concluded. "He should be in that chair with me, with us, tonight."
