Antony's bold ultimatum puts Man Utd in a transfer dilemma

Antony's bold ultimatum puts Man Utd in a transfer dilemma originally appeared on The Sporting News
Manchester United find themselves in a tricky situation with Antony. The Brazilian winger has apparently drawn a clear line in the sand, telling the club he will only accept a return to Real Betis.
With the Spanish side keeping their No.7 jersey vacant for him, the standoff is starting to feel like extra time with no end in sight.
Antony impressed at Betis last season during his loan, and the fans quickly took to him.
That bond now seems unbreakable, as the winger has rejected offers from Benfica and Saudi Arabia. His message to United is simple: let me go back to Spain.
But United are holding out for around £30-34 million, while Betis want a cheaper arrangement, either another loan or a shared-ownership model.

What's stopping Antony's Man Utd exit
The gap between United's valuation and Betis' offer is the biggest hurdle. Reports suggest Betis are prepared to carry more of his wages but cannot match the full transfer fee.
United, meanwhile, have frozen him out of the squad, hoping pressure will change his mind. Instead, Antony has doubled down, reportedly telling the club he's ready to wait until the very last day of the window, as per Estadio Deportivo.
Adding fuel to the fire, Betis have already kept a non-EU slot open just for him. That move signals they're serious, even if the finances remain a sticking point.
Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo tried to calm the noise, saying: 'We have to be respectful of the situation. Maintain caution, in line with what we've been discussing. It's a complex operation, given the profile of the player he is, and the profile of the club he belongs to.'
United fans, however, are growing restless. Some see Antony's stance as stubborn, while others argue the club should cash in rather than let him sit idle.
With September 1 looming, the clock is ticking — and right now, it feels like Antony is dribbling past Old Trafford's boardroom more easily than defenders on the pitch.

Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini gives update on Antony future – ‘Manchester United need to…'

Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini has put the ball in Manchester United's court over the potential return of Brazilian winger Antony. After a stellar loan spell last season, both Betis and the player are seemingly in favour of a second loan deal, but Manchester United are less keen. Their intention was to sell Antony this summer for somewhere between €40-50m, but thus far no offers have come in. In order for Betis to bring him back, that must remain the case. Pellegrini explained that United must make a decision. 'I've not spoken with Antony. We all know that Antony was very good here, we want Antony with us, and Antony wants to return no doubt. But we also need the owner, which is Manchester United, to make a decision,' he told Diario AS. Two Betis proposals on the table for Antony Betis have already made their case to United. Caught Offside report that Betis have offered to loan Antony again with an option to buy a percentage of his rights, which would then act as a sell-on fee. Their second offer is simply to buy Antony outright for €20m. Real Betis stadium change this season Pellegrini was speaking ahead of Betis' second game of the season against Alaves, for the first time at La Cartuja. As Betis renovate their Benito Villamarin stadium, they will play at La Cartuja this season, where Spain have often operated of late. 'I see it as a positive because it allows us to remodel the Villamarin. The fans are passionate, and even if they're a few metres away, it will be a temporary inconvenience. The ambition is always the same; the remodeling of the Villamarin had to be done. This club needs it.' Goalkeeper competition between Alvaro Valles and Pau Lopez Meanwhile it came as a surprise to many that Alvaro Valles, who had agreed a deal to join Betis as their starter last summer, remained on the bench for Pau Lopez in their opener against Elche. 'For now, there's only one competition; two goalkeepers are coming in who need to adapt to the defensive system. We'll see who plays in the other tournaments. There's also Adrian. Whoever's playing best will be the one who plays.' The Chilean coach also commented on the transfer market, remarking that there was no reason that the window should be open during the season. 'I won't comment on press speculation. The players in the squad are there to be used. Everyone is a part of the team. I hope we have a squad that matches the club's ambition. The team must be balanced.'

Report – Saudi Pro League Club Neom Not Giving Up On Signing Ex Bayern Munich Star From Inter Milan

Saudi Pro League club Neom reportedly have not given up on signing Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard this summer. This via FCInterNews. The Frenchman has not given the green light on the move yet, however. Inter Milan signed Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich two years ago. And while he has made a big impact, there is a feeling that his form suffered a definite drop-off last season. Furthermore, the Frenchman will turn thirty next campaign. Therefore, there is a nagging sense that this may be the right time for Inter to cash in. Meanwhile, Galatasaray are reportedly eyeing up a deal to sign Pavard. Then, two destinations in Ligue 1 have emerged in the form of Lille and Marseille. Coach Christophe Galtier in particular would be keen to bring the 29-year-old. Therefore, the Saudi club have not yet given up despite a lukewarm response from Pavard so far. However, for his part, the former Bayern defender has yet to really open up to the idea.

US and EU frame the ongoing deal between the trading partners and solidify some commitments

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States and the European Union on Thursday issued a joint statement that frames the ongoing deal between the trading partners and solidifies some trade commitments. 'This Framework Agreement will put our trade and investment relationship — one of the largest in the world — on a solid footing and will reinvigorate our economies' reindustrialization,' the document reads. Together, the U.S. and the EU have 44% of the global economy. Key points in the letter include a 15% U.S. tariff rate on most European goods, with specifics on auto tariffs tied to EU legislative actions. In addition, the EU agrees to eliminate tariffs on industrial goods and many agricultural products, while the U.S. will reduce tariffs accordingly. The agreement also covers $750 billion in energy purchases and $600 billion in EU investments by 2028. The agreement also addresses non-tariff barriers, digital trade and environmental regulations. In July, President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met briefly at Trump's Turnberry golf course in Scotland and announced a sweeping trade deal that imposes 15% tariffs on most European goods, warding off Trump's threat of a 30% rate if no deal had been reached by Aug. 1. Before the Republican U.S. president returned to office for his second term, the U.S. and the EU maintained generally low tariff levels in what is the largest bilateral trading relationship in the world, with about $2 trillion, around 1.7 trillion euros, in annual trade.
