Cinema tickets for Christopher Nolan's next epic selling for $400 one year befor
The much-hyped film, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, is set to be released in over 20 locations on July 17 to 19 and Thursday July 16 next year in Imax 70mm film; the best feature film format in the world.
Couple this high-resolution format with Nolan's name and it being the first commercial feature film to be shot entirely on Imax film cameras – of which there are only eight in the world – and fans are going mad for The Odyssey.
Imax announced the ticket drop on Thursday, and The Hollywood Reporter report that within an hour 95% of seats were snapped up, with some appearing on resale websites for up to $400 (£297), way over their average retail price of $25 to $28 (£18.60 to £20.84).
The title, which will be shown in 16 Imax cinemas in the US, is Nolan's follow up to the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy.
With a $250million budget, The Odyssey is the most expensive film of his career.
London's BFI Imax is also sold out alongside many US dates, so unlucky if you had blocked out this July weekend in 2026 in the hopes of a cinema trip…
This comes weeks after the first trailer for The Odyssey leaked online from cinemas – where it is exclusively being shown – with fans branding it 'life-changing' already.
Filming is still in progress with the 'mythic action epic' scenes being shot at Findlater Castle in Moray, Scotland, having also been spotted in Greece and Morocco.
The star-studded cast also includes Tom Holland as Telemachus, and Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Robert Pattinson, Charlie Therzon and Mia Goth in roles yet to be confirmed.

In a July 11 interview with GQ, Holland described his experience on The Odyssey's set.
'The job of a lifetime, without a doubt,' Holland said. 'The best experience I've had on the film set. Incredible. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we've ever seen.'
After Oppenheimer, Nolan is teaming up again with partner Emma Thomas for the film. The pair have been married for just shy of 30 years, and have four children together.
The Odyssey is one of two major epic poems attributed to Homer from around the 8th century BC, and follows on from the first – the Iliad, which focused on the Trojan War. More Trending
It follows the king of Ithaca, Odysseus, on his 10-year quest to return to his home island after a decade at Troy.
Along the way he must contend with the wrath of the gods and perils including being enslaved by a nymph, cannibals, an angry Cyclops, a sea-witch, a treacherous whirlpool and a six-headed monster.
Meanwhile at home on Ithaca, his wife Penelope and now-adult son Telemachus (Holland) must contend with a horde of suitors descending on the palace and pressuring her to choose one of them in the place of her presumed-dead husband so they can take the throne.

EastEnders fans 'in tears' as Linda Carter makes emotional exit after revealing huge secret
EastEnders aired an emotional exit for Linda Carter today as she said goodbye to the Vic, but not before dropping a huge bombshell - and fans predict trouble ahead... It was an emotional episode of EastEnders tonight as Linda Carter said goodbye to the Vic and to Albert Square - for a while. Despite knowing she'd be back - fans were still left in tears. The Carters and Knights have officially ended their reign as landlords of the beloved pub, with Kat Slater set to return as landlady. In tonight's episode, the family finished off packing up and Linda and her children headed off for a well deserved break on a cruise, while Elaine remains in Walford. It marks the end of an era and a fresh start for the family, as Elaine persuaded Linda to tell Oscar that Annie was his half sister. Linda was reluctant to tell Oscar, adamant she didn't want Max to know. However, a cheeky Oscar didn't look like he was willing to keep the secret as he responded: "And miss his face when he finds out?" However, later on in the episode, Linda was seen begging Lauren to ask Oscar not to tell Max - as Lauren reassured her that none of them have a relationship with their father. Lauren then had another chat with Oscar, and as Linda got ready to hop into a black cab, Lauren reassured her: "It's OK, he's not going to say anything, are you?" "No," Oscar responded. "No-one wants my dad back round here." Linda thanked Oscar and proceeded to say a teary goodbye to Tracey and her mum Elaine. Fans were left in tears, as one wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Tracy & Linda's goodbye hug. I'm not crying you are," posted one fan, as another said: "Trying to cope with not seeing Linda for several weeks now that she's gone on her cruise. I'm going to miss her so bloody much." A third emotional fan penned: "It's official, Linda has left the Vic and has gone on holiday for weeks now. Her goodbye to Trace and Elaine saying she's proud of her. I'm so emotional." Others were convinced that there'd be trouble waiting for Linda upon her been revealed that Max Branning (Jake Wood) will be making a return later this year, and fans think he'll be back in the Square waiting for Linda upon her return. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter during the episode, one fan penned: "Why do I get the feeling that Max will be back on the Square by the time she comes back to Walford. Linda took a massive risk telling Oscar about Annie - I just hope Max's return doesn't trigger another relapse as Linda has done so well to stay sober." Another said: "We know Max is on his way back to Walford - but could this be what brings Max back to the Square. I hope Oscar doesn't say anything," as a third agreed: "Linda's definitely gonna return from her holiday to see that Max is back in Walford, can't wait."

Happy Valley role born out of fear, Sarah Lancashire says
Bafta-winning actress Sarah Lancashire has said her star role in Happy Valley was 'born out of fear'. Lancashire, 60, won two leading actress Baftas for playing no-nonsense Sergeant Catherine Cawood in the BBC drama set in Hebden Bridge. Her decades-long 'brilliant and intangible' working relationship with writer Sally Wainwright influenced her role, but fear was key to her performance. Discussing the role at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, after being formally made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE), Lancashire told the PA news agency: 'That was just born out of fear, abject fear, of feeling quite off-piste. 'Literally it was a leap of faith, jumping off the cliff at midnight in the dark. 'But knowing that somebody has the confidence in you and the belief in you – she (Wainwright) is deeply persuasive as an individual, which I absolutely, really admire, I'm very grateful, always.' Lancashire's breakout role came as fan-favourite barmaid Raquel Watts in Coronation Street, which she played for five years until 1996, appearing in more than 260 episodes. She and Wainwright first met when they were 'cutting their teeth' on the soap opera. The duo later collaborated on the BBC drama Last Tango In Halifax, for which Lancashire won her first Bafta in 2014 for her supporting role. They worked together again on Happy Valley, which ran from 2014 to 2023. Asked what spurred the terror of playing Sergeant Cawood, Lancashire told PA: 'The setting of it, being asked to play something which I had no knowledge of at all – absolutely no knowledge. 'And knowing that the level of research that was available to me was going to be quite limited in the time available. 'But in actual fact – as she (Wainwright) always said – it wasn't a procedural drama, it was not a police drama, it… was a family.' She spoke about performing during a conversation with the Princess Royal at the ceremony at the Berkshire royal residence. Anne told her that she had briefly acted while at boarding school, Lancashire said. The actress told PA: 'We were really talking about performance, and how she'd done a little bit of this when she was at boarding school. 'I think they all had to go onto a stage at some point and it can stand you in very good stead for future roles in life, no matter where it takes you.' Being a professional actor 'is sort of clinging on for dear life', she said. 'It never changes. Very often as an actor you're swimming against the tide whilst standing on shifting sand. 'You feel that you may have some sort of trajectory but then the industry changes, because the industry is ever-evolving – every 10 years, you'll find yourself in an industry which is slightly different, requiring something different from you. 'So you're never secure, there's never a moment where you can be complacent, at all. 'It's sort of a clinging on for dear life, you just hope that you can stay with it.' Her relationship with Wainwright was pivotal in fighting that tide. She said: 'Having known her (Wainwright) for a very long time, decades, and just meeting someone whose voice you admire so much. 'Who knows why… there's an alchemy, that just works. It's a wonderful thing when you find it, not that I was looking for it, but it just happens – that's a tremendous thing.'
