En-Nesyri Under Fire: From Hero to Headache at Fenerbahçe
When Youssef En-Nesyri arrived in Istanbul last summer, Fenerbahçe fans thought they'd landed a lethal target man, a proven goalscorer from Sevilla who was meant to propel them to titles and European glory. For a while, he did just that – before it all went down.
The Moroccan forward lit up the Süper Lig in his early months, chalking up 26 goals and 7 assists in 47 appearances this season. From August to February, he was electric – tearing up defenses, bagging braces for fun, and even entering conversations around the world's top scorers.
But then came March. And the goals stopped.
In Sunday's derby against Beşiktaş, the 27-year-old was hauled off in the 70th minute to the sound of boos and whistles from the home fans. Fenerbahçe lost 1-0 and with it, perhaps, their grip on the title. They now trail Galatasaray by five points, and their patience is now dwindling.
Pundits aren't holding back either. Erman Özgür, speaking to TivibuSport , didn't mince his words: 'You threw away another 70 minutes of Fenerbahçe's time, saying you would save En-Nesyri in the eyes of the fans… You save yourself first.'
Since netting against Antalyaspor on March 2, En-Nesyri has failed to find the back of the net. Even José Mourinho, who publicly backed the striker, is feeling the heat.
'En-Nesyri scored 26 goals without taking penalties. He went through a challenging period during Ramadan, where he lost some of his form, but he is starting to get back to his best. He has proven that he is regaining his physical condition. He will play a key role in the remaining seven matches of the season, without a doubt,' said the Portuguese boss earlier this month.
That faith, though, has yet to bear fruit.
Despite the slump, En-Nesyri remains a man in demand. West Ham and Saudi giants Al-Nassr are rumoured to be circling, and with a contract until 2026, Fenerbahçe may well look to cash in this summer.
So, can En-Nesyri rediscover his killer flair before the season ends, or has his time in Kadıköy already run its course? Tags: FenerbahceJose MourinhoTurkeyYoussef En-Nesyri

He also tipped Vitinha as one of the contenders who should enter the race for the Ballon d'Or. 'Achraf had an impressive season. Vitinha is PSG's leader in terms of play. Franco Mastantuono: The Argentine Wonderkid Pitching PSG against Real Madrid
River Plate's midfielder Franco Mastantuono has become one of South America's most closely watched prospects, drawing interest from European giants Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Real Madrid's chief scout, Juni Calafat, travelled to Buenos Aires this week for discussions with River Plate executives and Mastantuono's entourage, with Los Blancos prepared to activate his $45 million release clause. Madrid's plan would allow the Argentine to remain at River Plate until the end of the year, as they did in 2023 with the Arda Güler transfer saga. The 17-year-old midfielder, who has scored 7 goals and 4 assists in 19 appearances this season, has also received his first call-up to the Argentina squad for World Cup qualifying fixtures in June. Meanwhile, reliable sports journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG is also pushing to secure Mastantuono's signature. PSG believes it can leverage its recent European success to convince the young midfielder who has expressed a preference for the French club. Mastantuono was born in Azul, Buenos Aires Province. He signed his first professional contract with River Plate in August 2023, which included a €45 million release clause. River Plate's youth manager Martín Pellegrino has praised Mastantuono's left-footed versatility: 'He can operate as a forward, an 'enganche' or a playmaker.' Assistant coach Pablo Fernández also said: 'His prowess in one-on-one situations and dead-ball scenarios. Mastantuono cites Julián Álvarez, Phil Foden, and Neymar as inspirations for his dynamic, free-flowing style.' As both Real Madrid and PSG seek his signature, Mastantuono seems destined to follow in the footsteps of Julian Alvarez, Diego Maradona, Carlos Tevez, and Sergio Agüero, potentially securing a high-profile move to Europe in January 2026. Newcastle and Liverpool Eye Moroccan Starlet Aït Boudlal
Moroccan defender Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal is attracting growing interest from top clubs across Europe after a solid loan spell at Amiens. According to Africa Foot, Premier League sides Newcastle United and Liverpool are both keen on the Rennes center-back. Newcastle are understood to have met with the player's camp, while Liverpool have reportedly tabled a formal offer. French clubs OGC Nice and Lille are also monitoring him closely, with two top-half La Liga teams joining the chase. Aït Boudlal joined Rennes from Morocco's Mohammed VI Academy in July 2024. He spent the first half of the 2024–25 season playing for Rennes II in Championnat National 3 before moving to Amiens on loan in February. Despite joining mid-season, Aït Boudlal quickly became a regular starter for Amiens, making nine league appearances – eight as a starter – and registering one assist in a 3–2 win over Guingamp. His physical presence, composure, and sharp positioning have been widely praised. Amiens finished the season mid-table, in 11th. At 1.90m tall, Aït Boudlal is a commanding figure in defense. He captained Morocco at U17 level, leading them to runners-up finishes in the 2022 Arab Cup and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. He scored in the U17 AFCON final and earned a place in the Team of the Tournament. He also represented Morocco at the 2023 U17 World Cup. In October 2023, The Guardian named him among the 60 best young footballers in the world born in 2006. Still under contract with Rennes until 2028, Aït Boudlal faces a crucial summer. His next move could be a defining step in his career. Tags: Aït BoudlalAmiensLiverpoolNewcastleRennes
