First Strictly Come Dancing contestant confirmed ahead of 2025 series
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey has been confirmed as the first celebrity taking part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
In a surprise announcement that saw him prank CBBC Newsround viewers on Monday (August 11) morning.
Flexing his reputation as a star of Gladiators: Epic Pranks, Harry appeared live in the Newsround studio disguised as 'world-famous choreographer Nicky Trott', there to talk about his recent work on a scientific study into the benefits of dancing every day.
His disguise was not enough to fool Newsround presenter Jenny Lawrence though, who quickly rumbled who she was really talking to.
Harry then gave the real reason he was there: to tell the world he's taking part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Harry's an Olympian, multi gold medal-winning Team GB sprinter, and star of Gladiators. As a sprinter he has competed at the highest level in the UK since his youth, becoming the first athlete to win gold medals at both 100 and 200 metres at the World Youth Championships, and winning the 2005 BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award aged 17.
Harry has gone on to win gold in the 4x100m relay at the European Championships and at the Commonwealth Games. He has competed in two Olympic games and is a three-time European Champion and two-time Commonwealth Champion.

In 2023, Harry was unveiled as Nitro in the hit BBC series Gladiators, and he took part in last year's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special partnered with Nancy Xu.
On joining Strictly Come Dancing, Harry said: "After the Christmas Special, it was so nice I just had to do it twice!
"I'm so excited to be part of the Strictly family this series and I'm ready to give it all I've got.
"I'll be bringing tons of energy to light up the dance floor. Let's hope I'm as quick picking up the routines as I am on the track."
The next three celebrity contestants joining the new series of Strictly will be announced live on The One Show tonight at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Kelly said: 'I don't think I've ever really weighed in that much on anything that isn't either about football or something quite silly. That's not how I've ever used social media.' Gabby added: 'I've been conducting myself on social media while working at the BBC for nearly two decades, so it doesn't change anything. "The broadcaster is probably under the most scrutiny of any in the country because of the way it's funded and because it's accountable to the public. That's how it should be. We strive to have the highest standards. Hopefully, we'll just get on with our jobs.' Speaking earlier this year, Lineker, 64, said he believed the BBC wanted him to leave the programme, which he had anchored since 1999. Asked why he was ending his tenure as host, he replied: "Well, perhaps they want me to leave. There was the sense of that." He announced last November that he would leave the football show at the end of the last Premier League season.

Durham-based sewer Dan, who began his sewing journey at the age of 10 years old, brought in a handful of old matching Christmas t-shirts worn by his family in 2022. He planned to merge them into one halter-neck dress, accompanied by a fake-fur muff. Speaking of the latter, he explained: "This was a shawl that I made for my mum that she only wore once, unfortunately she passed away. "So I thought it'd be really nice to have her touch." After his final design was revealed, Dan's piece was branded "beautiful" and he was even awarded Garment of the Week. "I'm glad I did this, because I wanted my mum to be represented," he sobbed. He later added: "This week has been insane, I can't believe all the good comments they said. "It was really nice they got my vision and knew where I was going with it, especially this one in particular, it was really personal to me." Patrick also praised Dan's final piece, saying: "It's absolutely stunning and such a beautiful story behind it. Channel 4 viewers make same complaint about new thriller In Flight minutes after debut
Tonight, Channel 4 viewers sat down for the first instalment of gripping new thriller, In Flight but it seemed like they all had the same complaint as they took to X to discuss Tonight, Channel 4 aired the first episode of highly anticipated thriller, In Flight. The six-part series follows the story of single mum and flight attendant Jo Conran whose life is turned upside down when her son is imprisoned for a murder in Bulgaria. However, he swears he didn't commit it. In a desperate attempt, to save her son, Jo takes a huge risk and begins to smuggle drugs over the boarder through her job - but how will things pan out? Fans sat down at 9pm to watch the first instalment on Channel 4, starring Katherine Kelly, but it seemed like a number of fans had the same comment, as they took to X, formerly known as Twitter to complain. It comes after BBC Death in Paradise's Kris Marshall shares heartbreak over being sacked and losing job. Fans had no complaints about the series, just the lack of it. "Too many bloody ads," said one disappointed viewer, while another penned: "More adverts than programme!" Aside from the adverts, the series had good reviews, with excited fans ready to watch the new series. One penned: "I Can't wait! I'm going to have to watch the rest of the series on 4 now!" Joining Katherine Kelly in the series is Babylon's Stuart Martin who plays the role of lead criminal gang member Cormac. Jo's ex, Dom Delaney also plays a key part in the role and is played by actor Ashley Thomas, who also goes by stage name Bashy. Fans may recognise the star for his role as Jermaine Newton in TopBoy.
