Denzel Washignton and Spike Lee reunite for Highest 2 Lowest, featuring ASAP Rocky and Jeffrey Wright. Watch teaser

Indian Express06-05-2025
Veteran actor Denzel Washington and legendary director Spike Lee are reuniting after 19 years for a film titled Highest 2 Lowest, produced by A24. The studio released a teaser on Monday, sparking excitement among fans and admirers eager to see the outcome of this powerful collaboration.
Led by Denzel, the cast of the film also includes Academy Award nominee Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, Jose Baez, and hip-hop artistes ASAP Rocky and Ice Spice. Although this will mark Ice Spice's Hollywood debut, Rocky has already featured in several films and documentaries, such as Dope (2015) and Zoolander 2 (2016).
The teaser of Highest 2 Lowest opens with a visual of the Brooklyn Bridge while a dialogue by Denzel Washington plays in the background. He says, 'There is more to life than just making money. There's integrity – what you stand for, what you actually believe.' While the dialogue runs, titles of previous films that Denzel and Spike have worked on keep running, such as An Inside Man (2009), Mo Better Blues (1990), Malcolm X (1992) and He Got Game (1998).

A montage plays, showing Denzel's character in a series of contrasting moments, as his voiceover reflects on the pursuit of success and the chaos that often follows. He poses a series of pointed questions: 'Can you handle the mayhem? Can you handle the money? Can you handle the success? Can you handle the failures? Can you handle the lovers? Can you handle the memes? And can you handle everything that is in between?'
Though Spike Lee has firmly established himself as one of the greats, he faces a significant challenge with this project. Highest 2 Lowest is a remake of the 1963 Japanese classic High and Low, directed by the legendary Akira Kurosawa. Lee now takes on the task of capturing that same intensity and depth, reimagining the story against the backdrop of New York City.
The film will release in select theatres on August 22 and will be available to stream on Apple TV+.

Zach Cregger Opens Up About Fincher's Game-Changing Advice On Weapons

Zach Cregger stated that David Fincher had helped him learn various things, including reframing, stabilisation, and ADR. Zach Cregger's mystery horror film Weapons has been released, and fans have been loving the director's unique structure, compelling storytelling and the impressive performances by the cast. During an interview, Cregger revealed that much of the credit goes to Academy Award-winning director David Fincher, who helped him in various ways. Backed by Warner Bros. Pictures, Weapons is written, directed, and co-produced by Zach Cregger, who also drew inspiration from Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia for some of the structure and ideas in the film. Zach Cregger Thanks David Fincher In The Credits Of Weapons During an interview with Variety, Zach Cregger revealed why David Fincher's name was in the credits of Weapons. Talking about the helpful inputs Fincher gave during the making of the film, the Barbarian director stated, 'He's just a very helpful guy. He was available to me during prep, and then he was very available during the post-process." He added, 'He (Fincher) watched the movie and had a lot of really constructive thoughts and gave me a tonne of ideas. He helped me learn more about the editing process and how to think about it in a new way that wasn't available to me when I was making 'Barbarian'. So he just opened my mind up a lot." Cregger further explained that Fincher had helped him in various things, including reframing, stabilisation, and ADR. 'Honestly, I learnt a lot about how to prep and what lenses to use," he recalled. Set in a small town, Weapons tells the story of a class full of kids vanishing mysteriously one day, making the townspeople increasingly furious that police have no leads. The narrative of the film follows several locals, including the troubled teacher whose class went missing, a cop, a parent of a missing kid, and a young burglar, as they get pulled into the central mystery. The cast includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Cary Christopher, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan. Zach Cregger Talks About Upcoming Film Resident Evil Talking about his upcoming project, Resident Evil, Cregger shared that the movie is going to recreate the tense, survival-horror atmosphere of the game. 'Those games pioneered something special. The pacing of those games is so unique and effective, and just being locked in with one character moving from point A to point B, knowing you're going to pass through this gauntlet of terror, and you've got to be methodical and thoughtful about it," Cregger shared. 'So I want to tell the story in the world of the games that honours the lore of the games, but it's a new story," he added. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Jenna Ortega's New Look To Intricate Details: Changes In Wednesday Season 2

Wednesday Adams is seen wearing a '60s detective coat for the majority of the series The second season of the widely recognised gothic thriller Wednesday has finally arrived, and fans could not help but notice the new additions in this edition. From set design and location change to new characters, the evolution of Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega) is hard to miss. With Tim Burton directing the series and Al Gough and Miles Millar back at the helm, every costume, hairstyle, fireplace, and piece of zombie prosthetics was done with intricate details, carrying a much deeper meaning than it shows on the surface. Let's take a look at the striking changes that Wednesday season 2 part 1 carries with utmost perfection: Wednesday Addams' Costume As we know, Wednesday Addams is not a big fan of personal evolution or change; hence, Academy Award-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood kept her all-black monochrome world intact and added a few details here and there. 'I have got a really cool '60s detective coat on her a majority of the season that cuts off… Colleen Atwood and Mark Sutherland (co-designer) were very excited when we saw this coat," Jenna Ortega revealed, as per Netflix Tudum reports. Enid Sinclair's Look Enid is pumping up the volume in season 2 with her maximalist style. 'The palette and the energy of Enid's clothes are reflective of Japanese street style," Atwood stated, as per Netflix Tudum. 'We shopped for Enid's clothes mainly in New York City. A lot of her clothes we found in Brooklyn, and we had fun with adding a slight New York street vibe, which I think is a little more adult but definitely a nod toward New York meets Japan," he added. Changes In Morticia Addams' Look Wednesday's mother, Morticia, is seen in a much bigger role in this season. Morticia's iconic body-hugging black dress has a new touch of colour, as she is carrying a hint of red in the sleeves and the panels of her skirt as well. New Characters Season 2 witnesses Morticia's mother, Hester Frump, swanning into Nevermore. 'For Hester, money's no object, so she would have the highest couture clothes made for her," Sutherland stated. Alongside the matriarch, a new addition to the zombie family is seen in season 2 with Pugsley's discovery of Slurp. 'We had to capture our Wednesday essence of a zombie that has the traits and the characteristics and the visual look that suits the show," prosthetics manager Tristan Versluis revealed, as per Netflix Tudum. Location Changes While season 1 was completely filmed in Romania, season 2 changes its location and shifts to Ireland. From incredible woods, gothic castles, lush greens, and grey skies – everything about Ireland fits perfectly with the show. The locations include Powerscourt Estate's gardens and redwoods; an old school building at Clermont for the shed where Pugsley and Eugene hide Slurp; and Deansgrange Cemetery as the site of the mausoleum, which was built as a standing set. Season 2 explores the different houses of Nevermore Academy – Ophelia, Caliban, Thisbie, and Puck – each with their unique visual style and logo.
