Abitkar attributes delay in loan waiver to Ladki Bahin scheme; no mention in BJP's poll manifesto, says Save
Health minister Prakash Abitkar (Shiv Sena) said in Kolhapur that a delay in announcing a loan waiver was because of the financial constraints state is facing on account of Ladki Bahin scheme.
"Govt is not deliberately delaying the loan waiver; it is getting delayed," Abitkar, who is also Kolhapur's district guardian minister, said at a gathering of Mahayuti functionaries to discuss the allocation of district planning and development council funds.

t was Devendra Fadnavis who gave an assurance of a loan waiver during the assembly election campaign, Congress MLC Satej Patil said. "Then Ajit Pawar said he was not the one who made the promise. Therefore, we are doubtful about the intentions of govt. As per the assurance to Kadu, a committee to study his demand on farm loan waiver will be set up in 15 days. We demand that the panel be given a timeline to submit its report.
"
Animal husbandry and dairy development minister Atul Save, however, said BJP's poll manifesto never promised a loan waiver to farmers.
"You may check it for yourself. The promises made are being implemented in a phased manner based on priority," the BJP politician said at a press conference in Hingoli. He visited the district as part of an outreach campaign to mark 11 years of the Narendra Modi-led govt at Centre.
Reacting to the statement, the legislative council's leader of opposition, Ambadas Danve, said that the power has gone to the head of BJP and its leadership.
"The farmers will show them their place," he said.
Following Kadu's withdrawal from the hunger strike in Amravati district on Saturday, Shetti announced cancellation of his planned chakka jam (road blockade) across Maharashtra on June 15, which was intended to advocate for a loan waiver.

PM Modi accuses Oppn of maintaining unjust, regressive laws while in power
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took a swipe at Opposition leaders, saying that those "who dance with a copy of Constitution on their head" had maintained unjust and regressive laws while in power, trampling the spirit of the Constitution. Addressing an event in the national capital after inaugurating two expressways, the prime minister also said that opposition parties have not been able to digest the success of BJP in Delhi and its adjoining states of Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. He said: "Ye jo log samvidhan sar par rakh kar naachte hain na, woh samvidhan ko kaise kuchalte the, woh Baba Saheb (Ambedkar) ke bhavna ko kaise daga dete the, woh sachai main batane jaa raha hoon. (Those people who are dancing with a copy of Constitution on their heads, how they used to trample the Constitution and betray B R Ambedkar ideas, I am going to tell you the truth now.)" "You will be astonished after hearing this. Our sanitation workers in Delhi are fulfilling huge responsibilities. We should thank them every morning. "Earlier governments used to treat them like slaves," he said, adding that there was a provision in the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act that sanitation workers could be jailed for a month on failure to report for duty without prior notice. "What they used to think about sanitation workers? You will put them in jail for a small mistake," Modi asked. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other Opposition party members are often seen carrying a copy of Constitution, swearing to protect it from the onslaught of the ruling BJP. The Opposition parties which now talk big things about social justice had enacted many such rules and laws in the country, Modi said, adding that the government is identifying and repealing such regressive laws. The government has already repealed hundreds of such laws, and the process is continuing, the prime minister said. During his speech, Modi also highlighted the unique alignment wherein BJP governments are currently in place in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. He said this reflects the immense blessings the entire region has bestowed upon their party and its leadership. Modi emphasised that recognizing this responsibility, the government is fully committed to the development of Delhi-NCR. He pointed out that certain political parties are still unable to accept the public's mandate. He stated that these parties have distanced themselves from both public trust and ground realities. Recalling how, a few months ago, conspiracies were hatched to pit the people of Delhi and Haryana against each other, the prime minister mentioned that false claims were made alleging that Haryana residents were poisoning Delhi's water supply. He asserted that Delhi and the entire NCR have now been freed from such negative politics.

Maharashtra BJP MLA's swipe at Eknath Shinde: ‘Won political lottery'
Maharashtra forest minister and BJP MLA Ganesh Naik has said that Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde had won a 'lottery', apparently referring to his appointment as chief minister in 2022. Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde during the inauguration of the final 76-km-long stretch of the Samruddhi Mahamarg in Nashik district of Maharashtra on June 5.(PTI) "Eknath Shinde (current deputy CM) had won a lottery. Not everyone has to win the lottery, but Shinde won it. However, what matters is how a person achieves a position and retains it, and common people observe this," Naik said at a bhoomi pujan ceremony on Friday, according to PTI. This is not the first time Naik has targeted Shinde. In July, Naik had alleged that outsiders were exploiting Navi Mumbai's resources, without naming Shinde, the guardian minister of Thane district. According to PTI, Shiv Sena had hit back by accusing Naik of trying to deflect attention from his own long-standing hold over the city's affairs. Shinde toppled the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government in June 2022 and became the chief minister. Also Read | 'File War': Proposals stuck as Shinde-Fadnavis turf war intensifies However, in 2024, he had to make way for Devendra Fadnavis after the BJP won a maximum number of seats in the assembly elections and settle for the post of deputy chief ministership. Earlier this week, Shinde had skipped a Maharashtra cabinet meeting on Tuesday, fuelling speculation that he continues to be upset with the Devendra Fadnavis-led government. While Shiv Sena leaders downplayed the matter, saying Shinde had extended his stay in Srinagar, where he had gone for a blood donation campaign organised on Sunday by party functionary Chandrahar Patil, opposition parties alleged the deputy chief minister skipped the cabinet meeting due to disagreements within the Mahayuti government. HT reported in February that Shinde had skipped two meetings chaired by chief minister Fadnavis concerning the urban development department, which is headed by the Shiv Sena chief. Back then, Shinde was reportedly upset with Fadnavis for several reasons, including being denied the chief minister's post in Mahayuti 3.0. Since then, the senior BJP leader had seized every opportunity to assert his authority over the Shiv Sena chief.
