Despite Visa-Free Entry, Malaysia Denies 10 Indians Over Suspicious Travel Records

Malaysia denied entry to 10 Indian nationals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) recently, despite offering visa-free access to Indian passport holders. The Indian travellers were among 99 foreign arrivals who were refused entry on Friday after failing to meet immigration requirements.
According to the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), a special seven-hour operation was carried out to screen over 400 passengers arriving on high-risk flights.
Among the 99 foreign nationals denied entry at the airport, there were also 80 Bangladeshis and nine Pakistanis.
The reason for denial was that these individuals did not satisfy immigration checks, including having suspicious reasons for their visit and questionable travel records. All those refused entry were men, Malay Mail reported.

The agency further explained that detailed background screenings, travel document verification, and individual interviews were conducted during the operation. Those denied entry were subjected to further documentation processes before being deported back to their countries of origin, following standard legal procedures.

AKPS emphasised that such enforcement actions would be carried out periodically as a proactive measure to combat human trafficking and misuse of social visit passes.

Probe Agency Opposes Sanjay Bhandari's Plea Against 'Fugitive Offender' Tag In Delhi High Court
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Friday opposed in the Delhi High Court a plea of UK-based arms consultant Sanjay Bhandari against a trial court's order declaring him a "fugitive economic offender". The probe agency said when the trial court's order was passed in July, the court was aware about an assessment order showing Rs 655 crore of property was surreptitiously acquired. His counsel and senior advocate Kapil Sibal, however, argued before Justice Neena Bansal Krishna that the prosecution was initiated without completion of assessment proceedings and if the assessment was incomplete, where was the reason to believe that the tax evasion was over Rs 100 crore. "They had no evidence to show that there was a Rs 100 crore tax liability. There has to be reason to believe that the tax liability is more than Rs 100 crore. Now if the assessment is not completed, where is the reason to believe that it is more than Rs 100 crore. This application (to declare him a fugitive) did not lie. It was premature," he submitted. Seeking a stay and quashing of the trial court proceedings, Sibal said Bhandari would be remediless the moment they declare him a fugitive. "They (ED) don't follow the law, they want to declare me a fugitive offender and take over Rs 400-500 crores of my property and don't allow me to file any claim. This is the state of law in this country," he said. Additional Solicitor General S V Raju, appearing for the ED, said, "When the order was passed the trial court was aware that there was an assessment order showing that Rs 655 crore of property has been surreptitiously acquired and on the date of the order, there was more than Rs 100 crore tax liability and Rs 196 crore of tax evasion is there." The court posted the matter for August 20. The trial court on July 5 declared Bhandari a "fugitive economic offender" on a plea by the ED, an order that allows the agency to confiscate all the assets worth crores of rupees of Bhandari, whose chances to come to India have been virtually nullified after a UK court recently ruled against his extradition. Bhandari's legal team, while opposing the ED's move to get him declared a fugitive offender, claimed its "client's stay could not be called illegal in the UK as he has a legal right to reside in the UK and the government of India is bound by the judgment of the UK court... Bhandari is legally living there, and declaring him a 'fugitive' in that scenario is legally wrong". The trial court said the "extradition attempt may have failed, but it will not make the accused an angel or immune from prosecution for the violation of Indian laws". Bhandari (63) fled to London in 2016, soon after the I-T department raided him in Delhi. The ED filed its first chargesheet against Bhandari in 2020. Indian worker at London Zoo set to be deported for stalking female colleague
An Indian, working at a London Zoo, is now facing deportation, after he allegedly stalked his female colleague and bombarded her with messages, flowers and chocolates before proposing to her, reported Dailymail. The report added that 26-year-old Asish Jose Paul was warned to stay away from Lutaruta Masiulonyte after he pestered his former co-worker in 2024 when she blocked him. Paul also showered her with gifts. Identified as an accountancy student, Paul is originally from Kerala and was given police bail on his arrest and warned not to go back to the zoo. In 2024, between July 7 and December 30, Paul kept proposing Lutaruta Masiulonyte despite her disapproval. However, even after the police warned not to go back to the zoo, he returned the very next day to speak with Masiulonyte. This act got him arrested once again, and now he is charged with stalking and given bail magistrates with conditions not to enter the Borough of Westminster or contact the complainant. Paul didn't follow the order and headed straight back to the zoo, however, and was arrested once again. He was bailed again with a condition not to go within 50 metres of London Zoo. However, he didn't listen and visited the tourist attraction once more. He explained that he was 'in love' with his former colleague. After this, he was awarded a six-month prison sentence suspended for twelve months, at Southwark Crown Court. Citing the recorder Jas Jandu, the report added that Paul was issued a ten year restraining order and said that Paul could face deportation. The Southwark Crown Court heard Paul studied for a Masters' degree in accounting and finance at Anglia Ruskin University between 2022 and 2023. He had been working in the cafe at London Zoo and met the victim there.
