Lisa thought she was in a relationship with Dr Chris Brown. Then she lost $23k
A British woman has been targeted by scammers, who tricked her into believing she was in a romantic relationship with Dr Chris Brown, defrauding her of her lifesavings of $22,800.
Lisa Nock, 44, was targeted by scammers who struck up a conversation with her on Instagram.
The fraudulent relationship lasted for longer than two years.
Nock, herself an animal lover, was lured into believing she needed to help fund a ticket for Brown to go to the United Kingdom, for the pair to meet.

'He soon suggested we speak on WhatsApp.
'After a few months, I admit I was enamoured. He told me he loved me and wanted us to marry – of course I said no and asked if it was a scam.
'I called the number to verify but it did not allow incoming calls.
'Then I got a video call with him from another number on encrypted phone messaging platform Telegram (using AI), where he said, 'I hope this now clears your doubts'.'
Nock says she was tricked into believing the exchanges were legitimate, due to the scammer's sophisticated use of AI images, which were shared with her.
Nock is a voluntary English and drama teacher, who was left with a disability following a car crash.
She currently earns $1246 a month in pensions, of which $831 pays rent to her parents.
Knock has been giving the remaining $400 to the scammers for more than two years.

Now, the scam has caused Nock psychological distress and left her penniless.
Nock explained the relationship ended after scammers demanded $40 million, with someone from Brown's 'management' saying the handsome vet had been kidnapped.
'I said I didn't have that kind of cash. I cut contact,' she said.
'I was vulnerable and wanted to believe we could be friends, we both love animals, I had lost my partner in a car crash a few years ago.'
Nock has reported the scam to UK police.
She said she went public as she didn't want others to fall victim to a similar scam.

Caroline Wilson took Scott to task on Tuesday night's episode of The Agenda Setters over his defence of Smith, saying he has been too sympathetic of him. 'You've been incredibly defensive of him — I think too defensive,' she said. 'I know that you defend your players, and all coaches do that, but I was so disappointed that he equated winning a premiership with potentially going out and taking drugs. 'And obviously, sometimes, you must find yourself wondering how strong you have to be to stick up for your player and maybe put your principles aside, because I just don't believe that's something you would ever do.' Scott said it's something he has given great thought to. 'I think about it a lot. And I would just challenge your assertion that that's what he did,' he said. 'I think he responded to a troll in the way that modern day players respond to trolls. 'I think it was a joke and it should have been intended that way. 'Because of his history, that's why he gets targeted by these sorts of people and these sorts comments.' Wilson interjected: 'Andrew Dillon didn't think it was a joke.' To which Scott responded: 'No, but he's entitled to his opinion as well. 'I would challenge that as well; I think they understand that it was a joke that fell flat. 'And Bailey understood almost immediately that that was something that he shouldn't have done. 'Our fundamental position on this is that we've got to remember that he's 23 — and other players that we've brought in as well — we were never taking the position that these guys were going to be perfect, and so we knew that we needed to ride with the punches a little bit. 'I think it comes back to how you think about changing behaviour.' Scott was at pains to make the distinction that what the club says publicly about the issue is different to how they're treating it internally. 'Why would you take the position that our football club just thought, 'No, no, that's fine — we'll just let that slide',' Scott said to Wilson. 'Just because we don't come out publicly and embarrass our players and rub salt into the wounds, doesn't mean that that conversation hasn't been had. 'And now you know that even Andrew Dillon's recognised the importance of Bailey to the game, and I think it's reinforced how important the game is to Bailey as well. And I think you'll see a change in this sort of behaviour which, in my view, is right at the margin, in terms of seriousness. 'Now, you have a different view. But we run our football club differently to the way you would.'

Teen dies in e-scooter crash at Mareeba, Queensland
A young man has died after falling from an electric scooter in regional Queensland. The crash tragic accident happened in the town of Mareeba, near Cairns, on Tuesday night. A police spokeswoman told NewsWire, as of late Wednesday morning, the deceased male was yet to be identified. Emergency services were called to Strattmann Street in Mareeba about 10.45pm. Mareeba is about 60km west of Cairns. The male suffered critical head injuries and died at the scene. The spokeswoman said the police believe there were no other vehicles involved in the crash. The forensic crash unit is investigating. The tragic incident is the latest electric scooter crash to rock the country and follows the release of a report last week from doctors and researchers in Queensland highlighting the 'significant risk' to children from e-scooters. The report, published in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health, analysed 176 child e-scooter injury cases that presented to Sunshine Coast University Hospital between January 2023 and December 2024. The research found 71 per cent of cases were male, falls accounted for 78 per cent of crashes, while 13 per cent involved motor vehicles. Helmet noncompliance was documented in 42 per cent of the presentations, 12 per cent involved doubling, and 36 per cent exceeded the 25km/h speed limit. Further, fractures occurred in 37 per cent of cases, 18 per cent required computerised tomography scans and 11 per cent sustained life-threatening or potentially life-threatening injuries. Queensland has suffered a spate of e-scooter deaths and the Queensland government is looking to significantly tighten rules. Earlier this month, an 18-year-old male died after crashing his e-scooter on the Flinders Highway in Townsville. That crash was also a single-vehicle incident. Eight people died in e-scooter and e-bike crashes in Queensland in 2024. Queensland and the ACT are the only jurisdictions that allow under-16s to ride e-scooters. Queensland laws say anyone aged five to 15 must be supervised by an adult. The City of Perth has indefinitely banned the hiring of e-scooters, after the death of a 51 year-old pedestrian last month. A British working holiday-maker allegedly struck the man, and has been charged with death by dangerous driving while under the influence. Harrowing cause of death revealed for three young sisters
The autopsy results for three young sisters allegedly murdered by their dad have been revealed as their father continues to elude a police manhunt. Paityn Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5, were discovered on June 2 near the Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, Washington days after they were reported missing following a scheduled visit with their father, 32-year-old Travis Decker. According to a press release on June 9 from the Chelan County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), autopsies conducted by the county medical examiner determined that all three girls died from suffocation. Their deaths have been officially ruled as homicides. The three girls were last seen on May 30 during a court-approved visitation with Mr Decker, who failed to return them. Inside the vehicle, investigators recovered a significant amount of evidence, including Mr Decker's personal belongings. Blood samples collected from the scene have been analysed, with one confirmed as male and another identified as non-human, according to the sheriff's office. Additional DNA and fingerprint analysis is ongoing. Mr Decker's dog was also located at the scene and turned over to the local humane society. Mr Decker is currently wanted on multiple charges, including three counts of murder, kidnapping, and custodial interference, and authorities warn that he may be dangerous due to his prior military experience. As of Sunday evening, June 8, local search operations transitioned to federal authorities, though the CCSO remains in charge of the criminal investigation. Officials cited the need to rest exhausted local teams, stating that their command staff continues to coordinate with federal search leaders. 'We had reached a point where we need to rest our local resources,' the CCSO said. 'Our teams will be ready to rejoin the search for and capture of the suspect after time off to rest and recuperate.' Authorities have released multiple photos of Mr Decker and are urging the public to remain vigilant. He is described as 5'8' tall, with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone who sees him is advised not to approach and to call 911 immediately.
