Venus Williams explains why she would consider cosmetic surgery
Venus Williams is getting brutally honest on what it would take for her to go under the knife.
"If I felt like I wanted to feel better about myself, and that's what made me feel better," she told Marie Claire U.K. in an interview published Aug. 4. "I would totally do it."
While Williams remains natural, she shared that people should mind their own business when it comes to others' looks.
'So many people are judging other people," she said. "But if it makes somebody feel good that's all that matters.'
Getting older is not fazing Williams as the 45-year-old athlete recently became the second-oldest woman to win a tour-level singles match in professional tennis when she beat Peyton Stearns with a 6-3, 6-4 score at the DC Open last month.
While she lost to Magdalena Frech in the second round of the Mubadala Citi DC Open, she shared some wisdom on aging in sports.
"There's one thing that I know: You're never too young or too old to win or lose," Williams said. "Winning and losing knows no age. All that matters is that I'm prepared and ready. And the longer I play, the more I get into it, the more I train, the better I get."
Williams went on to the ATP-WTA Cincinnati Open on Thursday (Aug. 7) but fell to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the first round.
'I had so much fun out there, and there were definitely moments where I had a lot of chances,' Williams told Dawn.com. 'I thought she played super well. I have to definitely give her a lot of credit.
'It's hard for me to be upset,' Williams added. 'I know that I lost this match because I just, I need more matches.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion recently returned to the sport after a 16-month absence due to recovering from surgery for uterine fibroids.
In her conversation with Marie Claire U.K., she did not give a definite answer on when she would retire from the sport.
'I really don't have a plan for the first time in my life. As an athlete and a player, there's a whole plan [like], 'I'm gonna play this tournament and play these tournaments so I'd be ready for that tournament,'" she explained. 'Now it's like, 'Oh, I love playing. I'm gonna play every day.' And if I feel ready to play, then I'll play.'

McKenna gives latest on Akpom chase, Hutchinson absence and Cajuste fitness
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna says he is hopeful of the club completing a deal for Ajax striker Chuba Akpom. The Blues hijacked Birmingham City's attempts to land the former Middlesbrough man on loan earlier this week. There were fresh reports, ahead of Town starting their Championship season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Birmingham tonight, that Turkish side Trabzonspor were now looking to swoop for the 29-year-old. "To be honest, I've not been across it massively," said McKenna. "My latest understanding was it was sort of a deal that all parties were trying to push through and wanting to do and I've not heard anything to the contrary for that. I'm waiting for some feedback from the club." Town did sign Jens Cajuste yesterday, the Swedish midfielder returning for a second loan spell from Napoli.
