‘Golden Bachelor' Mel Owens confronted by contestants on show after his age remarks

Mel Owens is correcting his recent fumble. The former NFL star, 66, revealed that while filming this season of 'The Golden Bachelor,' some of the contestants confronted him for his ageist remarks. Owens had said in June that he refuses to date women over the age of 60. 8 Mel Owens in May at the Disney Upfront. Disney 'One of the dates was a roast. It was brutal,' he confessed to Glamour in an interview published on Friday. 'They were killing me…. It was good.' After all, Owens knows he was in the wrong for his comments. 8 Mel Owens in New York City. Disney 'My reference of dating was 39, 40 years old,' he explained to the outlet. 'I hadn't dated in 26, 27 years. And at that point, I still hadn't dated, so my reference was my age, basically. That's what I told my friend.' However, Owens' pal didn't agree with the attorney. He added, 'She goes, 'It doesn't matter. You've said some things that are just incredibly wrong.' And I go, 'I've got to apologize.'' 8 Mel Owens poses with Jessi Ngatikaura and Layla Taylor. Disney Owens also set the record straight on why he agreed to do the reality show despite not wanting to date anyone over 60. 'Because I didn't know anything about 'The Golden Bachelor' ages,' he confessed. 'I didn't know the age range. To me, the age range was 45 to 60. That's my age range. I go, 'Oh, okay.' So I'm thinking that's the 'gold' years for me. My reference again was when I was dating at 39, 40. I hadn't dated in 26 years, so I had no clue. And that's why the comment. I didn't know.' While on the 'MGoBlue Podcasts with Jon Jansen' in June, Owens also made the jab that he wasn't interested in dating women with any artificial hips. 8 Mel Owens and Ryan Clark at the Disney Upfront. Disney Looking back, the athlete regrets that statement. 'I know [that's not right]. People run marathons. I'm an attorney, I represent athletes with injuries, and most of them are football, hockey, and a lot of them have artificial hips,' he went on. 'I apologized to the women on the show. When I first walked in, I addressed it. I apologized to them. I said, 'It was unfair, insensitive. I want to earn it back. Just give me the chance.' And hopefully, these last two, three weeks, I earned some of that back.' After Owens' podcast appearance, fans called for the reality star to be recast. The news made its way back to Owens. 8 Mel Owens and Hannah Storm smile for the camera. Disney 'My friend asked me, 'Hey, are you getting replaced?' I go, 'Not that I know of,'' he recalled, admitting that he would have been upset if he had been. 'Looking back on it and looking forward, it's a great experience,' Owens gushed. 'It's such a great experience for me, and so, oh yeah, I wouldn't have wanted to be recast. But I'm going to earn it back just by being myself and being fair and apologetic and honest and be myself.' Not everyone is so quick to give this year's golden bachelor a second chance. Some fans shared they won't be tuning in when Owens' season airs next month. 8 Mel Owens is the new 'Golden Bachelor.' Disney But the California resident thinks that would be a mistake. 'Well, if you don't tune in, you'll never know,' Owens teased. 'So you got to tune in. And again, I'm trying to earn it back. So, watch the show and see if I earn it back. Because I apologized.' 'To earn it back, you have to be earnest in your work to get the trust back,' Owens continued. 'And everybody there is smart and they can see through you if you're lying or you don't mean what you say. That's why I say tune in.' 8 Mel Owens chats with other attendees at the Disney Upfront. Disney Along with urging fans to turn on their televisions, the ABC star knows he deserved the criticism he received. 'But I deserved [the anger],' Owens added. 'That was a mistake by me. It's unfair. It's insensitive, like I said. And I have to earn it back every single moment that I'm on the show.' In June, Owens said he told producers his preferred age range is '45 to 60, just being honest.' He also told them that 'if they're 60 or over, I'm cutting them. This is not 'The Silver Bachelor,' this is 'The Golden Bachelor.'' 8 Mel Owens at 2025 Disney Upfront. Jackie Brown / Owens revealed that the producers then told him, ''You can't use the word cut.' I go, 'Well, that's an NFL term.'' His comments were quickly faced with backlash. 'He doesn't seem like the type for 'in sickness and in health,'' one fan wrote on X, while a second chimed in: 'Awful. I won't watch with a jerk in the lead.' A third social media user stated, 'doesn't sound like much of a mystery as to why he's still a bachelor. Anyone who chooses to go on that show deserves whatever disaster they get.' Owens was married to Fabiana Owens from 2002 to 2020, and the exes share sons Lucas (born in 2005) and Andre (born in 2007), according to Us Weekly. The 'Golden Bachelor' premieres on Wednesday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Season 2 of ‘Percy Jackson' is Coming—And Season 3 is Confirmed!

Demigods, it's time to complete the prophecy and return to Camp Half Blood again. That's right, The Oracle and the Greek Gods have officially announced when Season 2 of the hit TV show adaptation Percy Jackson and the Olympians is going to be available to stream, and have even released some photos of the main cast members like Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase. Scroll on to see them and learn more about when the Disney+ show will release and what the plot is expected to be. What 'Percy Jackson' Season 2 will be about Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 was announced in 2024, just a few months after the first season came out. It is expected to follow the second book in author Rick Riordan's best-selling series, The Sea of Monsters. In the novel, Percy Jackson (played by Scobell) travels to Circe's island with his friend Annabeth Chase (played by Jeffries) to try and procure the legendary Golden Fleece in the hopes that it will save both Camp Half Blood and the magical tree that protects it. Elsewhere, the now villainous Luke Castellan (played by Charlie Bushnell) works to revive the titan Kronos, and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) goes mysteriously missing, all of which are featured in the trailer below! 'This season has a lot more action than last season for sure,' Scobell, age 16, said, per TV Insider. 'I feel like last season was very much like, we would stay in one place and have a conversation and then there'd be an action sequence, you know what I mean? It was awesome. But this season, the stakes are higher for our characters, so it almost feels like there's never a place where we just stop and talk. We're almost always doing something, which I think fits this book perfectly. There's just so much at stake for our characters.' The actor could be referring to the book's chariot race, Cyclops' fight or his character being turned into a gerbil, but only time will tell. This will be the second time the book has been adapted, as it was made into a film in 2013, which starred Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson, Brandon T. Jackson as Grover Underwood and Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase. Who's in the 'Percy Jackson' Season 2 cast? Along with Scobell, Jeffries, Bushnell and Simhadri Dior Goodjohn (who plays Clarisse La Rue), Virginia Kull (who plays Sally Jackson), Glynn Turman (who plays Chiron/Mr. Brunner), Jason Mantzoukas (who plays Dionysus/Mr.D), Toby Stephens (who plays Poseidon) and Lin Manuel Miranda (who plays Hermes) are expected to return. They will be joined by Tamara Smart (who will play Thalia Grace), Daniel Diemer (who will play Tyson), Andra Day (who will play Athena) and Timothy Simons (who will play Tantalus). Courtney B. Vance is also expected to appear, as he will take over the role of Zeus from Lance Reddick, who tragically passed away in 2023 at the age of 60. 'There's also just a little bit of denial, I think. That's something that we're gonna have to deal with. But we're incredibly grateful for this character that he helped build and the presence that he created,' executive producer Jon Steinberg said in February 2024, per Deadline. I do not envy whoever has to step into his shoes.' When does 'Percy Jackson' Season 2 come out? Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is expected to release on Disney+ on December 10, 2025. As of publication, there is no news on whether episodes will be released one by one like Season 1 was. Is 'Percy Jackson' getting a Season 3? Following that, Disney announced that the show will be returning for a third season, which will be based on book three, The Titan's Curse. It will be the first time that the novel has been adapted and will introduce viewers to Nico D'Angelo, who will be played by Levi Chrisopulos and his sister Bianca D'Angelo, who will be played by Olive Abercrombie. 'We're so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time,' Riordan, the author, wrote on his website. 'It's a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!' It is expected to start filming in July of this year, with Scobell musing it 'probably will be my favorite season to shoot,' per J-14. ‘Project Runway' Returns With a Disney Princess Twist and a Shocking Exit!

Project Runway is back and better than ever! That's right. After two years, designers from all over the country are headed back to the design studio to compete in the hit design show hosted by none other than Heidi Klum herself. Woman's World recently got the chance to attend an event centered around Season 21 of the show, and was even able to catch a glimpse of the gorgeous dresses featured in Episode 1, which just so happens to be Disney Princess themed. To discover all the magical details we learned and find out what happened in the show's highly anticipated season premiere, keep scrolling. What to know about the Disney princess-themed Season 21 premiere of 'Project Runway' August is National Princess Month, and what better way to celebrate than by watching a Disney Princess-themed episode of Project Runway? In it, the new designers are divided into two teams, one of which is tasked with creating a princess-themed dress, while the other is tasked with creating outfits for their counterparts, the villains. And while all the dresses were beautiful, one designer was sent home—and to make matters worse, this wasn't the first time this had happened to her. Caycee Black is a 44-year-old designer who first appeared in Season 19 of Project Runway. She was sent home after the first round of competition, which really upset her. 'Being eliminated in the first challenge, I didn't get to show who I was as a person, as a designer, as an artist,' Black said in the most recent episode of Project Runway. 'I'm just hoping to prove who I am.' Sadly, though she never got the chance as she was sent home after Klum, the judge and host decided that her princess dress design didn't fit the theme. 'It's very lackluster in terms of shape and everything,' Klum, 52, explained. 'I want to see more design. It's not inspiring.' Law Roach, another judge who is famous for styling Zendaya, told Black that 'I just think it was a miss because you had everything to make something so beautiful and so fairytale-like and you kind of missed it.' They then decided to send her home at the beginning of the second part of the season premiere and Black was devastated, especially because she thought her design was totally fine. 'I'm just in shock a bit right now. I actually really loved my dress,' she explained. 'Being in this position again, I never thought I'd be in the bottom three at this stage in the competition again. After being eliminated in episode one of another season, it just feels like a bad joke. I don't want to go home. I can't go home. I didn't get to show who I was as a designer.' Following her departure, Black then did a confessional interview where she detailed just how devastating it was for her to get eliminated in episode one again. 'I'm beyond shocked to be eliminated for this look,' she said. 'It feels harsh to leave at this stage of the competition again. Project Runway is an experience I will never forget, and I'm probably finished with as of now.' A look at the rest of 'Project Runway' Season 21 Season 21 of Project Runway will air every Thursday on Freeform—previously named ABC Family—at 9 p.m. EST. It will then be available for streaming every Friday on both Hulu and Disney+, a place where you can also stream previous seasons as well. For more entertainment news, keep scrolling!
