2026 KTM 690 Enduro R And 690 SMC R Break Cover
KTM has unveiled the latest 2026 versions of the 690 Enduro R and the 690 SMC R. These motorcycles employ the brand's well-known LC4 engine, but in a heavily reworked form. Along with this, the bike gets revisions in ergonomics, aesthetics, and changes in the electronics suite to improve its capabilities. All while maintaining the off-road style. Starting with the heart of the bikes, the KTM 690 SMC R and the Enduro R both get the 690 cc LC4 motor, famed for being the most powerful single-cylinder on the market. It has been reworked using a new crankcase, oil delivery system, fuel pump, clutch, and revised valve timing to kick out 79 hp of power and 73 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, the secondary air system has been eliminated for a more straightforward intake configuration, and the exhaust system has been redesigned with a more compact muffler. Throttle response has been enhanced due to a new 65 degree twist grip, and KTM has increased maintenance intervals. Along with all of the aforementioned changes, the KTM 690 Enduro R features revised bodywork with LED lighting, accompanied by mold-in graphics, and a relocated centre-stand mount. Meanwhile, both bikes continue to be supported by WP suspensions tuned for off-road duties. In terms of features, the upgrades can be seen in the form of a new 4.2-inch color TFT screen instead of the old LCD dash featuring KTMconnect smartphone integration, USB-C charging, controls for music and calls, and turn-by-turn navigation, along with new backlit switchgear and a specific button to disable ABS. Rider assistance features now include lean-sensitive cornering ABS and cornering MTC as standard, with the Enduro R offering a Rally mode that provides adjustable traction and motor slip regulation, while the SMC R features a Track mode with launch control, a five-stage anti-wheelie system, a slip adjuster, and Supermoto-specific ABS configurations.
