Famed broadcaster says he's picking Chiefs to win Super Bowl because of Taylor Swift
Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Andy Reid, top defense, back-to-back championships. None of that matters, according to Brent Musburger.
The Kansas City Chiefs are aiming to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles, and Musburger said he believed Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of the star tight end Kelce, is a primary reason why.
"I don't look at stats and things like that. I look for offbeat stories to pick my winners," Musburger boldly quipped on "What the Football" this week.
Trends are trends, and Musburger may just be picking the best trend of all.
"Taylor Swift has attended nine Chiefs games in Kansas City, all in Kansas City this year, and they are 9-0. And if you go back to last year, I believe the winning streak with Taylor Swift in attendance is around 13 or 14 … and that's one of the reasons," he said.
The other reason also has nothing to do with the Chiefs but partially with their opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles, in an odd sense.
Musburger added that another reason the Chiefs will win the Lombardi Trophy again is because no team to make the playoffs has ever won the Super Bowl after losing a regular season game to Kirk Cousins.
The "Curse of Cousins" has taken down 14 teams since Cousins joined the league in 2012, and the Eagles, who lost to Cousins' Atlanta Falcons in Week 2, are next on the list.
Cousins faced the Chiefs this season, but the Chiefs earned a 22-17 win. No, Swift was not in attendance, but imagine Musburger's potential confusion if the Falcons pulled off that upset.
Last year, Swift attended the Super Bowl in the middle of her Eras Tour, leaving a show in Tokyo to head to Las Vegas. Now that the tour is over, this year's commute will be much easier. So, Musburger may be on to something.

Could the Tampa Bay Buccaneers make a move for a star defender skipping minicamp?
Could the Tampa Bay Buccaneers make a move for a star defender skipping minicamp? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have as near to a complete roster as a team can ask for in this current age of football. Jason Licht's work with his staff while building this current roster of Tampa Bay Buccaneers has not been without growing pains. It took some bad draft classes, trades, and signings to get the process down, but after winning a Super Bowl, he is ready for another. The fast track to getting a second one may be right in front of him. A trio of notable veteran defenders, who are unhappy with their contracts, are skipping the start of their team's mandatory minicamps. T.J. Watt of the Steelers, Trey Hendrickson of the Bengals, and Jalen Ramey of the Dolphins all have been speculated to be the topic of trade rumors at some point this offseason, but could they make sense for the Bucs? Both Hendrickson and Watt would be significant upgrades and solutions to their issues at the edge position. While they have Calijah Kancey and Haason Reddick poised for breakout years, they could use a dominant presence they can lean on. Both Hendrickson and Watt fit that bill. As for Ramsey, the cornerback position is filled with youth, so adding Ramsey not only gives them a reliable outside option but also gives them a veteran voice in the group. A move for any three of them would require a decent amount of draft capital, so it remains to be seen whether Jason Licht can pull the trigger on acquiring one of them. If he were to do so, it would signal the Bucs being all in on the 2025 season.

Who would win between the 2018 and 2021 Rams? GM Les Snead has his pick
Who would win between the 2018 and 2021 Rams? GM Les Snead has his pick The Los Angeles Rams have made two Super Bowls in the past 10 seasons — once in 2018 when they lost to the New England Patriots and then when they won in 2021 over the Cincinnati Bengals. Both made the Super Bowl in different manners, as the 2018 team relied on a high-powered offense under second-year head coach Sean McVay. The 2021 team, meanwhile, swapped Jared Goff for Matthew Stafford under center and had a much more balanced approach between offense and defense. Les Snead was also the general manager of both teams and had a simple answer when ex-Titans GM Ran Carthon asked him which team would win in a game. "2021," Snead said. "They won it. They were very connected. There were a lot of people on that team who were part of '18. So there's that element of the hunger, really the starvation of that taste versus that element of when you first get there." The key elements of Snead's reasoning make sense: The 2021 won it, so clearly they were the better team. They also had the intangible element of having a taste of the Super Bowl, missing out on it and getting another shot at a ring. Clearly, too, Snead doesn't want to get into the Goff vs. Stafford argument. While Goff thrived under McVay, Stafford was good enough to take the team over the edge where Goff could not.

Taylor Swift Gets Restraining Order For Alleged Stalker
Hot Topic 🔥 Full coverage and conversation on Taylor Swift Taylor Swift was granted a temporary restraining order Monday against Brian Jason Wagner, a 45-year-old Colorado man who has allegedly visited her home several times and claimed she is the mother of his child, per court documents reviewed by Billboard. The order was signed by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Debra R. Archuleta and reportedly requires Wagner to stay at least 100 yards away from Swift and her home. It is set to expire with a June 30 hearing about a potentially more permanent restraining order. Swift wrote in her petition Friday that Wagner first visited her Los Angeles residence on July 9, 2024, and returned at least twice that month. The Grammy winner further noted that she doesn't publicly share her address and never gave it to Wagner. 'Therefore, the fact that Mr. Wagner has determined where I reside and visited the property several times, refusing to leave and claiming to need access, makes me fear for my safety and the safety of my family,' she wrote in the petition reviewed by Billboard. Swift said he once arrived 'carrying a glass bottle that could have been used as a weapon.' 'During each of these visits, I am informed that Mr. Wagner made various statements about living at my property (not true), being in a relationship with me (not true), believing I am the mother of his son (not true), and needing to see me in person,' she added in her filing. Swift's legal proceedings were only launched after two more visits from Wagner last month, however, when her staff ran a background check and learned he had a criminal record and had claimed in 'lengthy communications' from jail that he was in a relationship with Swift. Wagner allegedly even illegally obtained a California driver's license listing Swift's address as his own. The singer, who unfortunately has a lot of experience with stalkers, described his claims as 'disconnected from reality' in her filing. In 2017, 29-year-old Mohammed Jaffar entered Swift's apartment building in New York City after harassing her management company, fawning over Swift on social media and describing her security guard as a 'gatekeeper,' The Guardian reported at the time. In 2018, 22-year-old Roger Alvarado broke in and used her shower before taking a nap in Swift's bed. Later that year, another man reportedly traveled more than 1,000 miles to her Los Angeles home with ammunition, a knife, rope and gloves in his car. Swift has used facial-recognition technology to identify potential stalkers at her concerts. The singer, who recently triumphed in a yearslong fight to reclaim the rights to her first six albums, wrapped her Eras Tour in December. The effort became the highest-grossing tour of all time, and the first to earn more than $1 billion — and $2 billion — in revenue.
