Brazil's government has asked US technology giant Meta to rid its platforms of chatbots that mimic children and can make sexually suggestive remarks, the attorney general's office (AGU) announced Monday.Users of Meta's platforms, which include Instagram Facebook and WhatsApp , can create and customise such bots using the company's generative artificial intelligence, AI Studio.The AGU said in a statement that Meta must "immediately" remove "artificial intelligence robots that simulate profiles with childlike language and appearance and are allowed to engage in sexually explicit dialogue."It denounced the "proliferation" of such bots in what it called an "extrajudicial notice" sent to Meta last week, adding that they "promote the eroticization of children ."The document cited several examples of sexually charged conversations with bots pretending to be minors.The AGU's request does not include sanctions, but the agency said it had reminded Meta that online platforms in Brazil must take down illicit content created by their users, even without a court order.It comes at a time of outrage in the South American nation over a case of alleged child sexual exploitation by Hytalo Santos, a well-known influencer who posted content on Instagram featuring partially naked minors taking part in suggestive dances.Santos was arrested last week as part of an investigation into "exposure with sexual connotations" to adolescents, and his Instagram account is no longer available.In June, Brazil's Supreme Court voted to require tech companies to assume greater responsibility for user-generated content.

The official statement then revealed that an unidentified individual had been posing as Sitara, sending fake trading and investment links to users. Authorities had advised the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, with efforts underway to trace the culprit. Sitara's social media presence Sitara, who enjoys significant popularity online, boasts 2.2 million followers on Instagram. Known for sharing dance reels, videos, and personal moments, she frequently connects with her audience through her verified account. While she has expressed interest in acting, she has yet to make her film debut. She has modelled for a few ads, including two with her father Mahesh.

TGCSB warns people over fake bank reward points scam through apk files
The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) issued a public advisory warning citizens against a surge in APK file frauds, in which scammers pose as bank officials and lure victims with the promise of redeeming unused credit or debit card reward points. According to officials, fraudsters typically contact victims via phone call, SMS, or WhatsApp, sharing APK files (fake links) disguised as official banking sites or applications. Once these are clicked or installed, the scammers gain access to sensitive information such as banking credentials, OTPs and PINs, leading to unauthorised withdrawals. Recent cases in Telangana have revealed that fraudsters are misusing the names of reputed banks such as Axis Bank, SBI and Bank of Baroda. Several victims have lost thousands of rupees after sharing their details or downloading malicious apps. The bureau urged people never to click on suspicious links or download files sent over WhatsApp or SMS. Reward points, it said, should only be redeemed through official bank applications or websites. Citizens are advised to disconnect immediately if they receive such calls and to verify directly with their bank. Kerala to be declared fully digitally literate on Aug. 21
Kerala will officially be declared a fully digitally literate State on August 21, marking the completion of the first phase of the Digi Kerala project, a grassroots level intervention across all local bodies to bridge the digital divide. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will make the declaration of Kerala as the first digitally literate State in the country at a function at Central Stadium in the capital on Thursday. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Minister for Local-Self Governments M.B. Rajesh said the State which achieved total literacy in 1991 had put forward yet another model for the country with over 99% of the population achieving total digital literacy also. He said with the government making available most of its services online through the KSMART platform, it also aimed to equip the entire population with the necessary digital skills to access these. The project originated from Pullampara panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram in 2021 to address the issues faced by the local population owing to the digital divide. Ground-level surveys were carried out to identify digitally illiterate persons of all ages. The trainees, most of whom were using digital equipment for the first time, were taught to make voice calls as well as video calls using smartphones, to use WhatsApp, to use popular social media platforms, and to access digital services, based on a module developed for the purpose. Pullampara was declared fully digitally literate in September 2022, when the government decided to expand the programme across the State. In the surveys carried out among 1.5 crore people from 83.46 lakh families, 21.88 lakh people were identified as digitally illiterate. Of this, 21.87 lakh people, comprising 99.98% of the participants had completed training and successfully completed evaluation. 'One of the interesting aspects of this project is how the younger generation, whose social commitment is often questioned, turned into volunteers to impart digital skills to the elder generation,' said Mr. Rajesh.
