'Due to being in the hospital, I have sent a petition containing the requests to be presented to the Honorable Prime Minister visiting Tamil Nadu through the Chief Secretary. Honorable @TThenarasu will present it to the Honorable Prime Minister,' MK Stalin said.
Stalin has been working from the Apollo hospital as he complained of mild giddiness while he was doing his morning walk. He has reviewed petitions, ordered for quick action and stressed on proper facilities for those coming to the hospital.
PM Modi will dedicate numerous development projects for the state in these two days. Posters, BJP flags and hoardings were place across the city ahead of his visit.
He will arrive Tuticorin this evening, and around 7:45 PM, he will inaugurate the new terminal building of Tuticorin airport. Additionally, he will lay foundation stones and inaugurate various projects worth over 4,800 crore rupees. He is also scheduled to attend the Aadi Thiruvathirai festival of the Chola emperor Rajendra Chola I at the Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple in Ariyalur District.
Industrial forums in Thoothukudi have welcomed the long-awaited inauguration of the new airport terminal, emphasising its importance as a major boost to the region's industrial growth and cargo handling capabilities. Pon Venkatesh, Secretary of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, stated that the new terminal will significantly enhance export activities from Tuticorin. Dharmaraj, President of Tudisia, added that the improved infrastructure will further stimulate trade from Tuticorin.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack at the Congress-led Opposition for 'giving a clean chit' to Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack and mocked the grand old party for not supporting India's war on terror. He further said that information and narratives play a key role in today's warfare strategy and cautioned against using technology to undermine the armed forces and misguide the public on issues of national importance. Doubling down his attack, PM Modi accused the grand old party of being hand in glove with Pakistan and said, 'Today, Congress is bereft of issues and is forced to draw agenda from outside.' He said that Congress leaders have repeatedly demanded proof and evidence of India's surgical strikes, but sensing public backlash, it changed tack and went to claim that such strikes happened in the Congress regime too. 'It's good that they didn't seek similar credit like Operation Sindoor because such air strikes never happened before,' he said, taunting the Opposition. He said that Congress wants a reason to oppose the government's decisions even at the cost of national security and also highlighted its 'disdain' for the armed forces. 'There is a negativity towards armed forces; it's an old Congress habit of finding faults in their action,' he said.

Congress, VCK question Stalin's stand that special law to deal with ‘honour' killing is not required
The ruling DMK's allies including the Congress, VCK and CPI-M along with activists working for the uplift of the Scheduled Castes/Tribes have renewed their call for enacting an exclusive legislation to deal with caste-hatred induced murders that are passed off as 'honour' crimes. Against the backdrop of the murder of Kavin Selvaganesh, a young engineer from Tirunelveli working in a leading IT firm, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste, they have questioned Chief Minister M K Stalin's stand in the Assembly contending such a special law was not required. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president, K. Selvaperunthagai, on Tuesday said he does not share the Chief Minister's opinion. 'A separate law against 'honour-related crimes' has to be enacted. The Chief Minister had said in the Assembly that he would use an iron hand to end such murders and there is no need for a separate we don't agree with that opinion. A separate law is in place in few other states. It needs to be passed [in Tamil Nadu]. The laws already in place have not been enough to curtail [such] violence,' he told The Hindu. Kathir of Evidence, a civil rights organisation, said, 'If existing criminal laws were enough, then why do we need a SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act? Why do we need a separate law against harassment of women? A special law brings attention to crimes against the marginalised. We need a broad law to deal with 'honour' related crimes. If, for instance, a backward caste family murders the young woman in their family instead of the Scheduled Caste youth who she falls in love with, will SC/ST Act apply? What if she is killed for falling in love with another BC man,' he asked.
