Teen terrorised neighbours with racist abuse and threats with machete
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, terrorised residents of a street in Glasgow's Dalmarnock between November 2023 and October 2024.
The teen pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to a string of charges including behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and possession of a knife in a public place.
The court heard that on Bonfire Night in 2023, the boy confronted a neighbour outside his home while his young daughter was nearby.
The man asked the teen if he was speaking to him and he replied aggressively.
The boy then removed a machete from a sheath and motioned the blade towards the man.
When told that his daughter was with him, the teen replied: 'I don't give a f***.'
The man left the scene and the boy shouted: 'Come out, I'm going to do you, you f***ing bam.'
The police were contacted and the teenager was traced to his home and arrested.
The court also heard of a later incident in which the boy was seen with a machete smashing the car windows of another neighbour.
He was heard to shout: 'You will be getting ran out of here.'
A 16 and a 17-year-old reported that the teenager followed them then shouted and swore in another incident.
He said he was going to slash one of the boy's faces.
He then brandished a six-inch knife which caused the pair to run off for safety.
The teen later told another man to 'go back to your own country' and used racist language.
He was also spotted with a knife that evening which he used to stab the tyres on a bike.
The court was told of another incident in which he was seen brandishing a knife at a bus stop in the city's Battlefield.
Sentencing was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Joan Kerr who continued the boy's remand at a children's unit.

Man racially abused and left in hospital after 'unprovoked' attacked
A man was racially abused and left in hospital after being subject to an 'unprovoked' attack in North Lanarkshire. Police were contacted after the 49-year-old was assaulted in Harthill at around 7.20pm on Wednesday, August 13. The man was walking along Miller Street when a Vauxhall Corsa stopped beside him, a man got out of the car, attacked him, and made racial comments. He attended hospital for treatment to his injuries. Police have launched a witness appeal following the incident, which they describe as 'completely unacceptable'. Officers are searching for a white man, aged between 20 and 30 years old, in connection with the incident. He was wearing a black coloured football top, dark coloured shorts, and trainers at the time of the attack. Detective constable Verity Gregg said: 'This has been an unprovoked attack on a man walking along the street. It is completely unacceptable. 'I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around that time who may have information to get in touch with us. In particular, if you have any dash-cam or doorbell footage, please pass it on as it could provide additional information on the incident or suspect.' Two arrested as Pro-Palestinian demonstrators blockade factory
A man and woman have been arrested after campaigners staged a protest outside a factory in Edinburgh in a demonstration against arms being sent to Israel. Members of Shut Down Leonardo blockaded the entrance to the Leonardo factory on Crewe Road North with a specially adapted van on Monday morning. The group said the Italian-owned company makes components for 'deadly' F-35 fighter jets, which are used by Israel. One activist locked on inside the factory and another locked on to the top of the van, while glass jars filled with red and green paint were smashed. Police confirmed a 35-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were arrested in connection with the protest. STV News The group is protesting against the company building weapons which are used by Israel. STV News A spokesperson said: 'Around 6.15am on Monday, August 18, 2025, we were called to a report of a protest outside a business premises in the Crewe Road North area of Edinburgh. Officers are in attendance, and a 35-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man have been arrested in connection. 'Enquiries are ongoing.' It is the second protest outside the factory, with the group being launched on July 15 this year, after claiming the company receives 'huge sums' of taxpayers' money from the Scottish Government, in the form of subsidies. A spokesperson for Shut Down Leonardo said: 'With most world leaders either ignoring Israel's genocide in Gaza, or actively involved in it, we cannot look aside while our Palestinian brothers and sisters are being exterminated.
