Who are the new presenters?
Match of the Day will be presented by Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan.The lead presenter role will be shared for the first time across Match of the Day and Match of the Day: Champions League - the latest addition to the BBC's football highlights portfolio.Cates has had a 27-year career in football with stints on all major broadcasters, including the BBC on Radio 5 Live. She previously hosted 606 with Ian Wright on Sundays. Cates, whose dad is former Liverpool and Scotland legend Sir Kenny Dalglish, has been presenting Premier League football for Sky Sports since 2017 and will continue to work for them.Chapman has been hosting MOTD2 for 12 years and also presents a range of sports programming on BBC Radio 5 Live, including the Monday Night Club and 606. He has hosted various sporting events for both BBC TV and radio. Chapman also presented Sky Sports' coverage of the Carabao Cup.Logan first joined the BBC in 2007 and has presented many sporting events, including men's and women's World Cups and European Championships, the Six Nations and Olympics. Since 2013, Logan has co-hosted BBC Sports Personality of the Year.The trio are the sixth set of main presenters for the weekly football highlights programme since it first aired in 1964.There have also been changes to the show too, with new augmented reality graphics in the studio and an updated title sequence.
Who will present the first show and how will they rotate?
The new presenters will rotate throughout the season, sharing equal billing on Saturday and Sunday's shows, and Match of the Day: Champions League on Wednesday.Their schedule may change throughout the season, with Logan presenting BBC Sport's coverage of the Rugby World Cup this autumn, as an example.The first show of the season will be hosted by Chapman with insight and analysis from Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer in the studio.Logan will lead Sunday's highlights show with guests Joe Hart and Danny Murphy.
Who are the pundits?
As well as Rooney, Shearer, Hart and Murphy, fan favourites and returning stars include Micah Richards, Ashley Williams, Dion Dublin and Martin Keown. Ellen White, Nedum Onuoha, Steph Houghton, Theo Walcott, Shay Given and Stephen Warnock will also be on hand to impart their knowledge, energy and experience.
Who decides the running order?
The running order is decided by considering various factors: the number of goals, the importance of the result in the title race or relegation battle, any particularly controversial decisions, and the overall quality of the game.The MOTD programme editor has the final call on the running order the programme will follow, but they will take into account where we're at in the season.Early in the season, there is no particular urgency to reflect on the standings. So high-scoring games will generally become top picks to start the programme.Goalless draws will not normally sit at the top of the programme, but towards the end of the season that result could be more significant if it feeds into a story around the title race.
How can I watch Premier League highlights from 8pm on BBC Sport?
The BBC Sport website will feature highlights of every Premier League match during the 2025-26 season.These will be available on the BBC Sport app, website and iPlayer on Saturdays and Sundays - ordinarily from 8pm.If there is an evening match, highlights from all matches that day will be available 30 minutes after the final game of the day finishes.Highlights of weeknight matches will be published at 10.30pm.
What other football will there on the BBC?

A BBC star left a live TV panel stunned after gagging when discussing his bizarre food 'phobia'. Death in Paradise star Ralf Little left BBC's Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt gobsmacked after his shock admission. The 45-year-old, who has also starred in hit shows like The Royle Family and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, took a turn for the worse after the conversation went on to tomatoes. Asked to nominate his 'food hell', Ralf said: 'Tomatoes.. That's it. Don't bring them anywhere near me. 'I am very, very strange with it. I can eat a pizza very happily with it if there's a tomato sauce, but if there's a slice of a tomato pizza…' Before he could even finish his sentence, he began to gag, adding: 'I can't, I can't. Get it away from me. 'There's something about a lump of tomato that's just…' As if the first time wasn't bad enough, Ralf can then be heard gagging again before joking: 'I'll talk to my therapist about it.' The 45-year-old was asked to nominate his food 'phobia' in a game of Food Heaven or Food Hell. Viewers are asked to vote between the two options the guests give, and then at the end of the episode the celebrity has to eat what the fans decide. Although Saturday Kitchen host Tebbutt appeared to have his hands full hosting today's show, the presenter chef could be even busier if he decides to take over from the recently axed Gregg Wallace and John Torode on MasterChef. The BBC has been plagued by controversy over the past couple of years following 83 misconduct allegations that were lodged against Wallace, before Torode faced an allegation of racism. Following the recent exit of both presenters after an inquiry was published about their misconduct, both Tebbutt and fellow chef Andi Oliver have been highlighted as potential candidates for the vacant positions. Tebbutt is a British chef and food presenter best known for presenting Channel 4's Food Unwrapped and Drop Down Menu, and the Good Food channel's Market Kitchen. He ran a restaurant called The Foxhunter for many years with his wife, but gave it up to focus on his TV career. The show, which was filmed in Majorca, Spain, starring Amanda, 54, and Paul C. Brunson, saw eight former couples who had split due to infidelity head to a luxury retreat to work out their differences. However, it has been reported that the show has been axed after one series and won't be returning for a second instalment despite "being one of the most streamed shows on the platform". A source told The Sun: "Despite Cheat being popular with audiences Netflix has decided to pursue new show formats. Bosses love Amanda and are in talks with her on three different show ideas, so it's likely fans will see a lot more of her on the platform in the future. Discussing the show and Paul's input with Closer UK she said: "He gives out amazing advice that I literally made notes on throughout filming. I was really nice to my husband Chris across the summer when we were making the show!" Amanda previously opened up about her marriage on her radio show Heart FM, saying: "I've been married for over 20 years. Well, I met him in 2003, I can't work it out. Manchester City begin title quest with convincing win against Wolves
Erling Haaland and new signings Tijjani Reinders and Rayan Cherki combined as Manchester City thrashed Wolves 4-0 in their Premier League opener. Haaland struck twice either side of a fine effort from Reijnders, and substitute Cherki added a late fourth, as City began their quest for a seventh title in nine years in convincing fashion at Molineux. Reijnders also had a hand in both of Haaland's goals in what was a particularly impressive introduction to life in the English top flight. Whilst it may be premature to suggest City have found the ideal replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, it was a very promising showing from the Dutchman. His presence brought dynamism to a City side that also raised eyebrows in other areas. Most notably, goalkeeper James Trafford was handed a debut and Ederson – described as 'number one' by manager Pep Guardiola this week despite speculation over his future – was missing from the squad altogether. The club, however, later confirmed the Brazilian's absence was due to illness, with the 31-year-old suffering from gastroenteritis. John Stones returned in defence for his first appearance since February and another new recruit, Rayan Ait-Nouri, featured against the club he left in the summer. It was an emotional occasion for Wolves as they paid a series of tributes before and during the game to Diogo Jota, their former striker who died last month following a car accident. The visitors assumed control early on but did not create a clear-cut opening until the 19th minute when captain Bernardo Silva crossed for Haaland but the Norwegian, having to stretch too much, headed over. City had some moments of alarm as Wolves got behind the defence. Marshall Munetsi thought he scored when he headed past Trafford from a Matt Doherty cross but he was clearly offside. A chance also appeared to open up for Jean-Ricner Bellegarde but again the flag was raised. City took charge of the game after two moments of brilliance from Reijnders in the space of three minutes. The Netherlands international, whose outings at the Club World Cup may have helped him settle, played a delightful lob over the defence for Rico Lewis and his pull-back presented Haaland with a simple tap-in. Moments later the former AC Milan midfielder applied the finishing touch himself with a superb low strike across goal after Andre Gomes lost possession to Oscar Bobb. Jorgen Strand Larsen spurned a good chance to pull one back after the break when he side-footed narrowly wide and the same player also forced Trafford to palm over. Haaland increased City's lead just after the hour following more incisive work from Reijnders, who received a long ball from Trafford and exchanged passes with Bobb on the right. He continued his run and pulled back for Haaland to sweep home from the edge of the area. Cherki, having been on the field just eight minutes, added to Wolves' woes when he drove in from distance nine minutes from time after combining with Nico O'Reilly.
