Some famous faces, including Tilly Ramsay, daughter of Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay, and darts champion Luke Littler, even weighed in on the judging process.
A total of 65 awards were up for grabs and 11 restaurants in Scotland scooped a Deliveroo Restaurant Award this year.
But just one outstanding Chinese restaurant in Scotland managed to bag the prestigious accolade.
Famed for its fresh and spicy Sichuan food, San Chuan in Edinburgh's southside was crowned the country's Best Chinese.
This eatery is renowned for its authentic Cantonese dishes which are expertly crafted in-house using genuine Sichuan ingredients.
Its distinctive cooking techniques are even tailored to better suit the locals' tastes.
Meanwhile, Deliveroo's Independent Restaurant of the Year for Scotland was won by Big Manny's Pizza in Aberdeen.
It is run by a trio of Callum and founder brothers Phil and Ashley Adams, who started working together during lockdown and opened their first restaurant six months later.
Since then, the pizza joint has grown rapidly, serving up delicious, freshly made pizzas to locals in both Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Calum Wright, Director at Big Mannys' Pizza commented on their win: "We are absolutely delighted to be named Independent Restaurant of the Year for Scotland by Deliveroo! From our beginnings in Aberdeen, dreamt up by myself, Phil & Ash, to our expansion across the city, our mission has been to bring those big, flavour-packed New York-style pizzas with a Mannys' twist to Scotland.
"Whether it's a classic Marg or one of our wilder creations like the viral Bombay BigBoi, this award is a testament to our amazing team and all the pizza lovers across Aberdeen who've embraced our slices. A massive thank you to Deliveroo for this incredible recognition!"
Scotland's Biggest World Buffet Expands to Dundee
Jimi Famurewa, food critic and Deliveroo restaurant awards judge, added: 'It's an honour to be a returning judge for Deliveroo's UK & Ireland restaurant awards, and I was blown away by the passion and talent on display at the Independent Restaurant of the Year cook-off.
Each finalist brought something unique and delicious to the table, making the final decision incredibly tough for us. However, CRUNCH from London stood out amongst the fierce competition, showcasing immense creativity, fine dining-level technique and mindblowing flavour that impressed us all."
We told previously how Scotland's best fish and chip shop was named in the awards.
And the best pizza in the country was also crowned.

UK's first garden city in 100 years is £3.9BILLION ‘major destination' with 15,000 homes, 50 parks & new supermarkets

The ambitious project could be completed within the next decade PARK LIFE UK's first garden city in 100 years is £3.9BILLION 'major destination' with 15,000 homes, 50 parks & new supermarkets Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HUGE plans to create the UK's first garden city in a century are underway. Costing almost £4 billion, the plans aim to create the first garden city in 100 years across 2,500 acres of brownfield land on the Kent Thames Riverside. Ebbsfleet will feature a staggering 15,000 new homes with 50 new parks and open spaces. Green and blue space will comprise 40% of the city by 2035, which is when the project is expected to be finished. It will, according to developers, become a place for Brits to "grow a family, build a business, socialise, and enjoy a unique city-country lifestyle on the edge of London and Kent." The planning application is expected to be submitted later this year. It will be made up of a collection of brownfield development sites within Dartford and Gravesham Boroughs. Three major projects comprise the Ebbsfleet Garden City: Ebbsfleet Central, Northfleet Embankment and Community buildings and spaces. Ebbsfleet Central will be a mixed-use residential and commercial area and will feature around 2,100 homes, of which 35 per cent are Affordable Housing. It will also include up to 100,000 square metres of office floor space and 10,000 square metres of retail floor space. Huge new £1.3billion redevelopment to create new 'cultural hub' in London This will be for restaurants, bars, cafes and supermarkets. A great option for commuters, Ebbsfleet Central is just 17 minutes from Central London. It is hoped that the revamped area will become a "magnet for inclusive economic growth" and a "destination of choice for investment and innovation". Ebbsfleet Development Corporation submitted the outline of the plans for the first phase of new development in Ebbsfleet Central in 2022. This includes building new leisure facilities, a new school and more open spaces for future residents. It also involves building the Eastgate Community Building in the middle of Springhead Park. This will be a church and a local community centre. It comes after Britain's newest town - built next to a major motorway - was set to cost a whopping £2.5billion with restaurants, shops and sports facilities. The Elms Park development, located in the north of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, was approved by local authorities yesterday. Councils have given the go-ahead to the massive new town serving almost 9,000 people. It will be situated on the outskirts of the Cotswolds, just off junction 10 of the M5, and will feature roughly 60 acres for employment land. Tewkesbury Borough Council described the approval of the 4,115 homes as the "biggest decision" it had ever made. The plans include a 25-acre business park, a hotel, shops, cafes, new schools, healthcare facilities and a transport hub. Elms Park Consortium, led by house builders Bloor Homes and Persimmon, claims that the project will create as many as 8,000 jobs in the area. It estimates that the development will provide 1,000 affordable homes while generating up to £300m for the local economy each year. Rob White, agent for the applicant, said: "Approximately £25m will be spent on community infrastructure. 'It will contribute £300 million a year into the sub-regional economy, creating and supporting over 8,000 new jobs, with 30 apprenticeships a year during construction over 20 years. "Over 4000 new homes will be built, providing for a new community of around 9,000 residents, many of whom will already be living in the area. 'Approximately £50 million pounds will be spent on providing new schools, including a secondary school and two primary schools on site. 'A sports hub containing new facilities for cricket, football, tennis, and an all-weather 3G pitch will be provided on site along with significant contributions to local rugby and hockey clubs. 'They are committed to bringing forward Elms Park as a well-designed, sustainable and healthy place where the new community can thrive.' 5 It will also include up to 100,000 square metres of office floor space Credit: Alamy

Fraudster mum stole £166k from firm and gorged on Greggs and Deliveroo takeaways

A personal assistant stole more than £166,000 from a former business director while living in a £1million home. Hemalatha Jayaprakash, 44, joined the Birmingham-based Northwood estate agents in 2012 as a personal assistant to director Nin Rehal, 57. Jayaprakash stole more than £6,000 knowing he was out of the office because his mother had passed away 24 hours earlier. The officer manager splurged on lottery tickets, Greggs and Deliveroo takeaways. When he decided to sell in 2023, Jayaprakash's fraud was exposed when the accounts were examined. In court, Jayaprakash said she sent money to pay her child's school fees and help relatives in India who lost their homes in floods. Jayaprakash wailed in anguish when she was jailed for two years and three months at Birmingham Crown Court on May 21 after pleading guilty to fraud and abuse of position. Rehal said he was 'devastated' that he had been betrayed by his trusted personal assistant. He said: 'This fraud was not opportunistic; it was calculated, premeditated and a sustained scheme executed over multiple years. 'I used to confide in Jayaprakash in daily meetings, sometimes in tears, but she would tell me not to worry about the office, all is in control with the team.' Jayaprakash turned up at Rehal's mother's funeral with her husband. Rehal said: 'This is the level of greed, deception and betrayal we are dealing with.' He told the court he had to release equity from his family home to make ends meet, including supporting his two children at university. Rehal added: 'Meanwhile, Mrs Jayaprakash resides in a £1million property, purchased outright in 2018, and benefits from income generated by a portfolio of at least eight rental properties.' Jayaprakash's husband said his family had no idea about her deception and were planning a family trip to India. She told him she was driving off in the family Land Rover to view offices for a new job but was instead appearing in court. The family only found out she had been jailed 12 hours later, following their own search and getting in contact with police. Jayaprakash told MailOnline: 'We weren't aware of any of this, it is such a difficult time for the family. We had absolutely no idea. 'My wife didn't need the money and we are trying to find out what really happened, and maybe she was coerced by someone. More Trending 'We don't have any money issues, we are not struggling financially, so why would she do this? 'We cannot comprehend this, it is beyond belief and we are totally shattered and devastated. It is such a shock.' Recorder Amy Jackson said: 'Everything I have read about this lady takes me to the belief she is from an affluent background where she ought not to need to steal to fund a lifestyle and effectively does lead a lavish lifestyle. This was pure greed.' A Proceeds of Crime Act hearing will be held on August 26 to determine issues around confiscation, costs and compensation. It's hoped that it will save both money and time for drivers and the planning committees. Lilian Greenwood, the Future of Roads Minister, announced the news. She said in an announcement: "More drivers will be able to save up to £1,100 a year as the government cuts red tape to make it easier than ever to install electric vehicle chargepoints." This saving is calculated for the comparative running cost of a petrol or diesel model. The minister is hoping that the new system will lead to more public charging points, encouraging drivers to go electric. There are currently an estimated 80,000 charge points in the UK. with one installed every 29 minutes according to the statement. In the last year alone, 18,000 sockets were installed in workplace carparks. Further incentives have been offered through a scheme that entitles those renting or owning a flat with on-street parking to receive £350 off the cost of installing a home charger. Some motorists seemed less than thrilled by the news, sharing their concerns on social media. Japanese giant unveils its new bargain EV with quirky 'bug eye' headlights One person wrote: "There's four houses on my street it's going to be chocker block, my husband wouldn't be able to pull into the drive." Others were skeptical about how successful the scheme will be, as one said: "It will take decades for electric infrastructure not to mention the streets and homes and flats with no access for electric charging points." Another commented: "Why is our government so fixed on forcing us down the ev manufacturers are scaling back on ev now." As more car manufacturers shift towards electric vehicles, the government is hoping Britain will become a leader in the eco-friendly industry. Not only will this help with meeting climate targets, but they hope it will also create more jobs as part of their Plan for Change initiative. The government has already safeguarded 150,000 jobs in the industry through trade deals with the US, India and the EU. A further 1,000 jobs were created by an investment of £1 billion in a Sunderland-based gigafactory - the term for an electric vehicle manufacturing plant. Responding to the new changes, the Operations Director of Osprey Charging Network Lewis Gardiner, said: "This is a hugely welcome and practical change that will make a real difference on the ground. "Removing the need for planning permission for essential electrical infrastructure like substations across the majority of sites will save months of delays, reduce costs and accelerate the delivery of the rapid charging hubs drivers need. "It's the result of months of collaboration between industry and government and we're proud to have played a key role in making it happen." Switching to an electric vehicle can bring a range of benefits for drivers, particularly as the market continues to expand. This includes financial benefits like the running costs being as low as 2p per mile. As the market expands, EV cars are becoming more affordable, with 2 in 5 used EVs now under £20,000 and 29 brand new models for under £30,000. Their engines have also improved, with most new EVs boasting a range of nearly 300 miles on one charge. The new government rule is helping to make it easier than ever to drive an electric vehicle, with the hopes of encouraging more accessible charging stations across the UK.
