A hand-built classic car is helping put a town on the global map.
The Malvern-made Morgan Supersport took centre stage at a recent event in London celebrating the UK's most successful car manufacturers.
Dame Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, met with Morgan Motor Company's chief commercial officer, Gary Pearson, at the event to discuss the company's international ambitions and the challenges posed by US trade tariffs.
Dame Harriett said: "It was great to see a Malvern-built car lining up alongside some of the greatest cars in the world to promote the very best of British manufacturing.
"Morgan's historic cars are hand-built by local people at a factory in the heart of Malvern and it has been a proud champion of the town.
"I will continue to speak up for Morgan Motors and its highly-valued network of local suppliers as it competes on the world stage and puts Malvern in the global spotlight."
The Morgan Supersport was displayed alongside vehicles from Aston Martin, Bentley, Lotus, and McLaren.
The event aimed to showcase the success of UK car brands and raise awareness of the contribution of smaller manufacturers to the industry.

Swimming pool reopens after four years

A swimming pool in East Sussex has reopened after more than four years. The decision to bring Ringmer Pool back into use was made following a public consultation by East Sussex County Council, who then worked with Lewes District Council (LDC). Wave Active has been appointed to run the facility on behalf of the local authority, and the company's CEO, Duncan Kerr, said he was "delighted" the pool reopened on Saturday. The pool has been closed since March 2021. Mr Kerr said: "This facility is a wonderful community asset. We worked hard to get it ready and hope many residents visit regularly to support the pool, their health and enjoy swimming." Councillor Johnny Denis, cabinet member for tourism and leisure at LDC, said: "Ringmer Pool was initially built thanks to the hard work and fundraising of local people and it's really exciting to be bringing it back for the whole community. "I am delighted we got the pool up and running again." LDC invested £100,000 in Ringmer Pool as part of its £3m council investment programme to maintain local leisure services. Councillor Nick Bennett, deputy leader at ESCC, said it was "great" to see the facility reopened. He said: "We worked with Lewes District Council to secure funding to ensure the future of Ringmer Pool for the benefit of the wider community." Darlington fish and chip shop named UK's best takeaway is expanding

A family-run fish and chip shop in Darlington, which was crowned the nation's best takeaway this year, is to open a new restaurant in the heart of town. Yarm Road Fish and Chips was named Fish and Chip Takeaway of the Year 2025 at the National Fish & Chip Awards in February, after a rigorous assessment process run by the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF). The top prize recognises quality, innovation, and customer service in Britain's best-loved food industry. On Friday, June 13, Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen visited the chippy to congratulate the family. He said: "This is a fantastic local success story. Graeme, Julie and Will have built something really special - a family-run business that's proudly putting Darlington on the map. "Winning a national award like this is no small feat, especially in such a competitive field. It shows the quality, the passion, and the work ethic behind every portion they serve. "It's another example of the brilliant businesses we have across our region - and I can't wait to see their new restaurant open its doors very soon". During busy periods, the shop can fry up to 50 fish every 15 minutes, going through more than 600kg of chips in a single day. All dishes are cooked in traditional beef dripping, and the menu includes homemade fish cakes and the shop's signature crispy batter - which is a closely guarded family secret. Entrepreneur UK's London 100: Spruce

Industry: Supply Chain Sustainability Spruce is a London-based API startup tackling sustainability at the source – within the supply chain. Founded by Oxford alumni Louis and Maximilian, Spruce shifts focus from high-level carbon dashboards to helping suppliers, especially SMEs, report accurate, product-level sustainability data directly from invoices and logistics records. This data flows into enterprise procurement systems, enabling buyers to verify carbon, material, and social metrics without relying on estimates, PDFs, or manual follow-ups. With regulations like CSRD, Scope 3, and Digital Product Passport rules approaching, companies need real, auditable data to back their sustainability claims. Spruce provides the infrastructure to make that possible. A global CPG company is already onboarding over 500 suppliers, with strong traction via integrations into existing procurement tools. What sets Spruce apart is its pragmatic approach – suppliers don't need to be ESG experts. Spruce automates data collection, applies intelligent rules to highlight gaps, and makes compliance seamless. Backed by the Oxford Seed Fund, climate-focused angels, and early-stage VCs, Spruce has raised its seed round to expand its technical team and scale enterprise partnerships, paving the way for more transparent and efficient sustainability reporting.
