Coronation Street alumnus Ryan Thomas has shared that his family is baffled by his return to the iconic ITV soap, remarking that they "don't understand it".
A cornerstone of the cobbled streets, Ryan first stepped into the role of Jason Grimshaw in 2000, quickly embedding himself into the fabric of Weatherfield. His character became known for a string of entangled romantic exploits with Weatherfield's women like Rosie Webster, Maria Connor, and Sarah Platt — the latter portrayed by Tina O'Brien, who shares a child with Ryan.
Beyond his tumultuous love life, a defining element of his stint on the street was his bond with his on-screen mother Eileen, played by Sue Cleaver, who herself is gearing up to bid farewell to the street.

In 2016, after clocking up 16 years as a familiar face on the soap, Ryan opted to exit Coronation Street, seeking fresh challenges and vistas beyond its famed cobbles.
Yet, nearly a decade since he waved goodbye, news has broken that the actor, now 40, is primed for a dramatic comeback. Fans are set for a surprise as Jason returns from his Thai sojourn to drop back into Weatherfield, leaving residents stunned by his unexpected appearance, reports Belfast Live.

As anticipation builds for his screen resurgence later this month, Ryan has confessed his brood is yet to share in the excitement, with the actor suggesting his kids may well give watching his heralded Corrie return a miss.
Speaking candidly to Inside Soap, he reflected on the importance of Coronation Street in his life: "Even if my children don't understand it now, there will come a time when we sit down and show them. Corrie will always be a reminder of who I am and where I came from."
His return to Weatherfield is amidst the Grimshaws' woes, coming hot off the heels of aunty Julie Carp's passing following a lengthy cancer battle. This family grief is compounded as Eileen becomes entangled with the law, facing scrutiny over allegations of having murdered her own sister, Julie.
During a heartfelt chat on Loose Women, Sue reminisced about her time on the soap: "I've had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street."
She elaborated on her decision to leave, stating: "The door is still firmly open but as I reached my 60th year, I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly."
Sue took a sabbatical from the cobbles to tread the boards in 'Sister Act The Musical', and subsequently ventured into the jungle on I'm A Celeb in 2022.
Catch the latest drama on Coronation Street tonight at 8pm on ITV.

I tried to take my own life TWICE after being driven to rock bottom by drugs sting - powerful people wanted to take me out and now I know why, claims Tulisa in unflinching This Morning interview

Tulisa opened up about how she tried to take her own life twice when she was driven to rock bottom after being involved in a drugs sting back in 2013. The 37 year old appeared on the latest instalment of ITV 's This Morning to chat to Emma Willis, 49, and Craig Doyle, 54, about her brand new book Tulisa: Judgement, Love, Trials and Tribulations. In the book she opens up about how she was arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs, after then-journalist Mazher Mahmood, also known as the Fake Sheik, tricked her into giving him a contact from which he bought £800 worth of cocaine. Craig pointed out: 'There is a really serious side too... This isn't just about reputation or losing work, or being publicly shamed, and all of those things that have come with this story, but you did attempt to take your own life.' Tulisa bravely said: 'I mean I look back on it now and I feel quite detached from it. Even when I read the book, it's like reading a story about someone else. 'But that is the point that it brought me to.' The 37-year-old appeared on the latest instalment of ITV's This Morning to chat to Emma Willis, 49, and Craig Doyle, 54, about her brand new book Tulisa: Judgement, Love Trials and Tribulations Tulisa (pictured) was a judge on The X Factor between for the eighth and the ninth series in 2011 and 2012 'Sitting in your bathroom with a bottle of vodka and a handful of pills,' Craig replies to her. Tulisa explained: 'So I talk about two attempts, the first attempt was quite light in a sense of I just grabbed a load of pill packets. 'I was very drunk, and what exactly they were going to do wasn't sure. Just go for it. I'd had enough. 'It was actually the second time, which was after the trial had finished. 'I then had the time to really process everything that had happened. 'That was the real kicker, and then surviving that... that was a miracle.' Tulisa claimed there were two main reasons the people who targeted her wanted to take her down a peg - classism and misogny. 'The whole thing was the most intense, chaotic, dramatic period of my entire life. But there's a lot of knowledge to be taken,' she went on. 'There was misogyny involved, I think there was a lot of classism involved. I think when I came into the industry, expecting as the Camden girl, to be up for and do a lot of things that I wouldn't. When it was discovered that I wouldn't play the game, I think I ruffled a lot of feathers of a lot of big wigs in the industry and they thought "We're going to take her out".' Tulisa is leaving no stone unturned in her upcoming autobiography, detailing her battle with addiction, two suicide attempts and her sex tape scandal. The singer vowed to be 'brutally honest' in the tome, titled Judgement: Love, Trials and Tribulations, and has stayed true to her word. According to The Mirror, the N-Dubz star charts her 'year from hell' amid her drug sting trial, which led to two suicide attempts. She penned of the day she found out she was going to be charged on suspicion of being involved with the supply of Class A drugs: 'Why is this happening to me? 'What's the point in being alive just to be miserable? 'How am I ever going to find happiness after this? 'Even if I'm found innocent, I'll be empty inside by the time I get to the end of it, and my life will be ruined.' Thankfully, she was found by former best friend Gareth Varey who called an ambulance after finding her in her bathroom surrounded by empty packets of sleeping pills. While Tulisa was revived, she made a second attempt on her life months later amid her trial, which resulted in her being hospitalised for three days. Throughout any challenging times, Tulisa would try and comfort herself by locking herself in the bathroom. She explained: 'When I was a child, the bathroom was the only room in my house with a lock. I had always locked myself in there in times of distress, whether it was because my parents were going at it like two bulls in a china shop again, or my mentally ill mother was going off the rails. It had always been my place of safety. 'And twenty years later, here I was: back lying on the bathroom floor. Deep-rooted issues, I suppose. When the sex tape had come out, I had slept on the bathroom floor for five days.' Tulisa's ex Justin Edwards - who she had broken up with in 2009 - released a sex tape of her in 2012 during the height of her fame. Revenge porn was not illegal at the time, meaning she only managed to get a court apology from him. Elsewhere in the book, Tulisa also revealed that while she suffered from depression she became addicted to sleeping tablets and benzodiazepines, a habit she broke free from last year after she 'found her peace and faith'. Tulisa's memoir documents her rise to prominence and subsequent fall from grace after being targeted by the disgraced 'Fake Sheikh', Mazher Mahmood. The singer later admitted her life 'fell apart' following an elaborate sting that resulted in her being arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs, an accusation she vehemently denied. As the drama played out in court, Tulisa opted to keep a journal in which she detailed the toll her trial had taken on her personal life, and the devastating impact it had on her career. Released by Blink Publishing for Bonnier Books UK, Judgement is now available to purchase.

Prince Andrew's 'odd Royal Lodge game' that Sarah Ferguson 'doesn't like'

Prince Andrew, who is the subject of a bombshell new biography, allegedly plays a bizarre game with the staff at Royal Lodge, but ex-wife Sarah Ferguson takes a "dim view" of it Prince Andrew plays a bizarre game with the staff at Royal Lodge that his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson takes a "dim view" of, it has been alleged. Andrew's "lifelong teddy bear obsession" has reemerged in the news after the publication of an explosive new biography by historian Andrew Lownie, entitled 'The Rise and Fall of the House of York'. ‌ In 2022, a strange anecdote surfaced about the beleaguered prince's reported stash of 50 to 60 teddy bears. An ex-royal officer even claimed that Andrew would "scream and shout" if his staff didn't perform a specific task involving the toys. ‌ Speaking in the ITV documentary 'Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile', former protection officer Paul Page claimed that the Duke would fly into a rage if his servants didn't place them in a certain way at Buckingham Palace. ‌ A handwritten guide also offered insights into his sizeable collection, which purportedly included bears, a panther, hippos and three cushions with the unusual monikers of 'Daddy', 'Ducks' and 'Prince'. It wasn't simply an itinerary but featured directions on where to put blankets, a fur, and five toys. According to the Mail's Ephraim Hardcastle, the Duke's affinity for toy animals doesn't end there. A Palace source told the Mail: "When he lived at Buck House he'd also hide his toy monkey in unlikely places to test whether cleaning staff would spot betide them if they didn't." They added: "Staff at Royal Lodge still have to play Prince Andrew's game - unless Sarah is resident. She takes a dim view of it." Andrew, who left his royal duties back in 2019 after his car crash Newsnight interview, has been embroiled in a number of controversies in recent years. They include his links to an alleged Chinese spy, his tenancy of Royal Lodge and connection to the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. ‌ The Duke has denied any wrongdoing during his time with Epstein, while alleged spy Yang Tengbo requested that his anonymity be lifted and insisted that the spy claim was "entirely untrue". Earlier this week, amidst allegations outlined in Lownie's bombshell book, the Duke broke cover and was sighted leaving for a walk. As photographs of this excursion came to light, body language expert Judi James shared her thoughts. ‌ After examining the snaps, she explained that it was "less about" what's changed in Andrew's body language, but rather what's "missing". She also noted that Andrew appeared to have shed his "rounded-eyed, haunted expression". Judi went on to say that the Duke's frown had "melted slightly" and his expression lacked any obvious signs of tension. Alleging that he was known for "looks of haughty arrogance", Judi pointed out that he now looks "less immersed" in "signals of status and entitlement". Judi added: "His mouth is closed but his lips aren't clamped, and his shoulders look relatively relaxed. One pic like this might not capture his current mood in its entirety but it might hint at a more philosophical and less defiant approach now." A spokesperson for Sarah Ferguson declined to comment.
