‘What the hell is wrong with her': Reddit reacts to ‘abhorrent' JK Rowling justifying any violence Imane Khelif may face
On her X account, JK Rowling shared a news report with the caption, 'The psychological damage done to the young women he punched, while the entire world watched and the sporting establishment jeered, shamed and gaslit them, is naturally of no importance whatsoever.'
A user on X asked in response, 'If this poor woman is driven to suicide by your harassment, how will you feel?' In response, Rowling replied, calling Iman a 'he' throughout, 'If any harm befalls Khelif as a result of the truth coming to light, responsibility will lie solely with those who lied about his sex so that he could carry on endangering young women and stripping them of their rightful honours in front of the world's media.'
This tweet made its way on Reddit, where several users on the platform slammed the author for making such an insensitive remark. One user commented, 'Imane was born a woman, though, what the f*** is she yapping about? How misogynistic do you have to be to call a non-feminine woman a man? This freak is a disgrace.' Another said, 'It's unfathomable that HBO will want to work with her after this tweet specifically. Yes they're all bad, but this really feels beyond the pale.' 'This is abhorrent. What a miserable, toxic human being,' said another.
A comment read, 'Pretty disgusting to say considering JK Rowling has admitted to suffering from suicidal ideation as well. This woman is a husk of a person that is completely devoid of empathy and humanity.' A user wrote, 'Rowling is despicable. Who knew Umbridge was her self-insert?'
Last year, Imane Khelif had named Elon Musk and JK Rowling in a cyberbullying lawsuit. Imane won gold in the 66kg division at the Paris Olympics. However, she faced a massive amount of hate on social media, with people accusing her of being transgender or being born male.

Mrunal Thakur posts bold photos amid backlash over her Bipasha Basu comment and Dhanush dating rumours. Mrunal Thakur has found herself in the spotlight for both her professional and personal life. While her latest film Son of Sardaar 2 is struggling at the box office, she is also facing social media backlash after an old video resurfaced where she appeared to throw shade at Bipasha Basu. Adding to the chatter are rumours linking her to South superstar Dhanush. On Monday, the actress seemed unfazed by the criticism as she took to Instagram with a series of striking photos in a black outfit and sunglasses, captioned, 'Stop staring!" While her fans showered her with praise, detractors continued to reference the controversy. One user commented, 'You're lucky people know you now after you used Bipasha's name," while another wrote, 'Bipasha is iconic!" 'She insulted Bipasha," a third user said. What Mrunal Thakur Said About Bipasha Basu The clip at the centre of the storm dates back to her Kumkum Bhagya days, where she was seen chatting about fitness with co-star Arjit Taneja. When asked about physical preferences, she remarked, 'Go marry Bipasha then. Listen, I am far better than Bipasha." The comment has sparked criticism, with many calling it an unnecessary dig at another actress. Netizens were quick to react, with an old Reddit thread resurfacing as well. One user alleged, 'She has always been a typical mean girl… she was mean towards her ex on Nach Baliye and has a very crass way of talking." The clip has now gone viral across social media platforms, fuelling debate about her attitude. Park Chan Wook denies violating WGA guidelines for The Sympathizer after getting expelled from the Guild
Park Chan Wook is easily one of the most respected Korean directors across the world. Thanks to his work in Oldboy, Joint Security Area, Lady Vengeance, The Handmaiden, Decision to Leave, and more, he has become one of the faces of Korean filmmaking. So when the news hit the screens this week that he was removed from the Writers Guild of America (WGA), shock spread across the industry. Now, the director's side has denied claims of scriptwriting during the 2023 strike, which called for a complete stoppage of their work, but has not appealed the committee's decision to bar him from the union. Park Chan Wook removed from WGA: Violation dispute continues Alongside the South Korean, co-executive producer and co-writer Don McKellar was also booted from the association, citing breaking of WGA rules for their HBO mini-series. According to a statement shared by Allkpop, a representative from Moho Film said, 'All scripts for The Sympathizer were completed and filming had begun well before the WGA strike commenced on May 2, 2023. Editing is not considered writing under WGA rules, so it was a permitted activity. During the editing process, HBO proposed changes to certain settings.' Offering further clarity on the work that went on behind the scenes, they shared, 'The two (Park Chan Wook and Don McKellar) held idea meetings to determine whether those changes could be implemented using existing footage'. They claimed that creative changes and possible alternatives were explored by the two, keeping in mind the ongoing strike at the time and what it entailed. It was emphasized that 'they did not write or revise any scripts until after the strike ended.' It has been revealed by Adam Levin in a comment to Variety, nothing really changes for the superstar's career except probably having to pay a heftier retainer. He can still continue to write and direct films and projects in the West, without fearing a boycott from any involved companies or associates. The director has vehemently denied writing, so it remains to be seen what comes of this investigation. George Clooney, Sylvester Stallone and George Lucas are some of the many who have previously left the union themselves.

‘To create Olympic warriors' – India's new Archery Premier League aims for bull's eye
The myth that India just cannot win an Olympic archery medal, has taken root with each heartbreak and fourth place disappointment at subsequent Games. But the mythology – and separately the history – of India being an ancient land of great archers, however, will provide the inspiration for the Archery Premier League, with the first edition set to kick off on Dasra, the last day of Navratri, October 2, which is also Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. Modern-day mental demons of India's finest archers tend to be the performance pressure that drags them down at every Olympics, and it is this mythical beast that the Archery Association of India seeks to prepare them against, through the league. The 6-team league is expected to run from October 2 – 14, and the likely venue would be the Yamuna Sports Complex. While Dr Joris doesn't disclose the teams which will be announced in coming days, social media activity points to possible franchises from Ranchi, Delhi, Telangana, Chennai, Bangalore and possibly a team from either Maharashtra or Rajasthan to honour the western flank warriors of the country. The team match will be contested over mixed team duels – each in Recurve and Compound (now an Olympic event) – and a total of 10 days will be devoted to round robin fixtures, with 3 matches per day. Each match will last 20 minutes, and the arrow shooting time has been reduced to 15 seconds from the internationally allotted 20 seconds, 'to pile the pressure and get them used to tension.' It must be recollected that many big names in Indian archery have wilted in the competition cauldron of Olympics, falling to nerves, even while winning in minimal pressure 'World Cups'. Korea, the world's premier Archery nation is known to simulate pressure tactics for its archers and put them under intense stress, in their domestic competitions. This promises to be a trial by fire, for Indian archers too, as crowds will be encouraged to create a noisy din. 'We want to make the event much faster so that it's a sterner Test,' Dr Ummacherial says. While Doordarshan will loyally broadcast the league, talks are underway for OTT presentation with JioStar and Sony both. Teams have been nudged to enlist brand ambassadors, and film stars and famous sportspersons will be unveiled in coming days, aligned to every team. While the doctor didn't divulge any details, a corporate that has been part of Indian archery's journey for many decades, is expected to take up the Ranchi franchise. The other franchise owners are not historically associated with archery. The inaugural season will see players drafted, and not auctioned, and each squad of 8 members (4 women & 4 men), can have 2 foreign archers on their roster, and are mandated to field 1 of them, amongst the 4 that will make up the team. An archer ranked in Top 10 in the world stands to earn USD 10,000, while someone that is Top 8 in India, but not Top 20 in world, will earn USD 8000. A few other rules, not part of international archery, have been included. Besides the shorter drawing and pull time, a shootoff in case of a tie, will have a sudden death, though an extra point will be given for a smack bullseye – besides the inner/outer points system of the concentric rings. The target distances remain 70 metres and 50 metres. It is also learnt that one point of contention at the ideating stage of the APL was the competition gear of archers. One idea floated was that teams will cosplay and pick a regional, traditional outfit to create the cultural vibe. Archery's technical officials with their sights on the ultimate goal of Olympic medal, though, insisted that archers stick to their international standard competition gear, but could turn up for interviews in ethnic wear, that highlights Indian culture. It's time for mythology to pave the path for the country's top archers to bust myths of their non-medalling and become modern day history-makers.
