Vishnu Manchu Makes SHOCKING Claim, Says Brother Manoj's Staff Stole Kannappa Hard Disk
Last Updated:
Vishnu Manchu claims his brother Manoj's staff is linked to the stolen 'Kannappa' hard disk.
Tensions within the Manchu family have spilled into the spotlight once again as actor-producer Vishnu Manchu made a shocking claim involving his brother, actor Manoj Manchu. Speaking at a press meet in Chennai on Friday, Vishnu alleged that two individuals accused of stealing a hard disk containing crucial VFX footage from his upcoming film Kannappa are linked to his brother Manoj.
According to Vishnu, the suspects—Raghu and Charitha—work for Manoj, though he clarified that he isn't sure whether they acted under Manoj's direct orders. 'We don't know if they stole it or acted upon someone's orders," he said. 'It was after these attempts we filed a police complaint."
Vishnu explained that Kannappa's visual effects work is underway in multiple cities including Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Dubai, and London. He detailed the incident, saying, 'When the VFX-related hard disk was sent from Mumbai, it reached my father Mohan Babu's residence in Film Nagar. It's the norm. We are three siblings and all our packages arrive there, and our respective managers would go collect it. Similarly, the hard disk arrived at our dad's residence. It was handed over to Raghu and Charitha, and they have been missing since then."
The dispute is only the latest in a long-brewing rift between the Manchu brothers. Manoj has reportedly been estranged from the family and no longer stays at their father's Film Nagar home.
Despite the setback, Vishnu reassured fans that the stolen hard disk is secure. '99 per cent, you cannot crack the password, there is one per cent chance though. Even if they manage to leak the footage, I urge everyone not to watch the leaked footage. A lot of hard work has gone into the film," he said.
The alleged theft occurred in Hyderabad's Film Nagar, just weeks ahead of the film's expected release. A statement released earlier by Vishnu's team hinted at deeper issues, referring to 'sabotage and personal vendetta" as possible motives.
An FIR filed with the Hyderabad police also backs Vishnu's version of events. As per the complaint, the footage was couriered on March 23 by a VFX vendor in Mumbai to the production office of 24 Frames Factory, Vishnu's banner. It was received by one staff member, then reportedly handed off to another, who is now missing.
'The hard drive was taken without any authorisation and with malicious and deliberate intent," the FIR reads.
The film is releasing on June 27.

Vishnu Manchu: Dr Rajkumar's Bedara Kannappa was a mass entertainer in its time
In 1954, Bedara Kannappa marked the cinematic rise of Dr Rajkumar. Decades later, in 1988, Shivarajkumar carried the torch forward with Shiva Mechchida Kannappa. Now, 37 years on, the iconic tale of the ardent Shiva devotee returns in a new avatar — Kannappa, a multilingual film, lead by Vishnu Manchu and produced on a lavish scale by his father, Dr Mohan Babu. Kannappa is set to hit the screens worldwide on June 27. All eyes are on whether this fusion of faith, fantasy, and modern cinema can strike a chord with today's audience. We caught up with Vishnu Manchu at the film's teaser and song launch in Bengaluru, an event graced by Shivarajkumar and Rockline Venkatesh, who is also distributing the film across Karnataka. Amidst the fanfare, Vishnu spoke exclusively to CE about redefining devotion for a modern audience. When asked about adapting a devotional classic in a tech-driven, commercial format, he responded candidly: 'Back then, they made Bedara Kannappa with what they had. Today, we're doing the same — using what's available to us. But while technology has changed, devotion hasn't. The way we tell the story, however, must evolve.'

When Manoj Bajpayee said Leonardo DiCaprio ‘tries too hard' as an actor: ‘He is putting in too much'

(Also read: Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's 'cheesy peesy' romance in new ad make fans go aww: 'Love how Anushka blushes') During the interaction, when the host shared that he does not find Leo that good on screen, Manoj admitted and said he is on the same page as him. He then added, 'He works very hard. DiCaprio ka, aap bilkul sahi keh rahe ho (You are right). I don't blame you for thinking that way, ye thought mere mein bhi bohot baar aya hain (I have also felt the same). I tried to find out the reason. Usme mujhe bohot saare behind the scenes milein, kuch ek filmon ke (I saw some BTS clips from his films).' He went on to say, 'I was not looking at anything, I was just looking at DiCaprio. And how he is before the shot. What is he doing between the shots. I realised that he is putting in too much. He is… bohot jyaada hard ho raha hain. Isiliye work nahi karta hain. His intent is great. Scorsese uske saath lagatar kaam kar raha hain. Jo woh karna chahta hain, jin cheezon ko woh support karta hain woh push karta in saare directors ke kaam ko… (It becomes too hard, that is why it does not work. But see how Scorsese works with him so many times. He pushes things he believes in and wants to be in those roles).' Leonardo will be seen next in Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another. He is also starring in Martin Scorsese's next feature film. Meanwhile, Manoj will be next seen in The Family Man season 3. He was last seen in the crime drama Despatch.
