‘Nation's Interest Prior For Us': PM Modi Touts Made-In-India Weapons During Op Sindoor
PM Modi praised 'Make In India' for Operation Sindoor's success with indigenous weapons and criticised Congress for weakening defense manufacturing.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday emphasised on 'Make In India' initiative saying that the indigenously developed weapons played a decisive role in Operation Sindoor- India's military strikes against Pakistan in response to Pahalgam terror attack.
While speaking during the special discussion in the Lok Sabha on 'India's strong, successful and decisive Operation Sindoor in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam," the Prime Minister highlighted that for the first time since independence, his government took bold steps in defence sector and strengthened manufacturing.
PM Modi further thanked the young generation working in private sector for the prodcution of defence weapons. 'I thank the 25-30 year-olds working in private defence production for playing a vital role in Operation Sindoor."
He further said that his government established the position of Chief of Defence Staff.
'We initiated a series of response- some even for the first time in Independence like Chief of Defence staff. our government brought reforms. I commend the three forces for accepting these changes," he added.
He also lashed out at the previous Congress governments for deliberately weakening the defence manufacturing in the country.
'Our historic defence manufacturing was deliberately weakened after independence. Under Congress, self-reliance for the armed forces was ignored. They chased personal gains in defence deals," he said.
'On one hand, India is moving ahead at a fast pace towards self-reliance, but Congress is becoming dependent on Pakistan for issues. Unfortunately, Congress is importing issues from Pakistan…" he added.
The Prime Minister further asserted that the BJP has always put nation's interest prior to everything else owing to which the decisions became productive.
Earlier today, Rajnath Singh said, 'I am proud to say that our Air Defence system, Counter-Drone system, and electronic equipment completely foiled this attack by Pakistan. Pakistan could not hit any of our targets, and none of our important assets were damaged. Our security arrangements were impregnable, and every attack was thwarted."
During Operation Sindoor, India's Akash missile defence system and security shields like the S-400 fortified the nation's defences. Pakistan launched a wave of drone attacks using UAVs acquired from Turkey. While Pakistan rained drones, India's defence system proved strong, intercepting and destroying about 99 percent of them in time.
On the intervening night of May 7 and 8, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in northern and western India, including Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankote, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) Grid and Air Defence systems.
Air Defence systems detect, track, and neutralise threats using a network of radars, control centres, artillery, and both aircraft- and ground-based missiles. On the morning of May 8, the armed forces targeted air defence radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan.
India used battle-proven air defence systems like the Pechora, OSA-AK and LLAD guns (low-level air defence guns), as well as indigenous systems such as the Akash, which demonstrated stellar performance.

NSUI demands student union polls: Rajasthan Congress leaders face water cannons, over 30 detained
National Students' Union of India (NSUI) workers and senior Congress leaders, including AICC general secretary Sachin Pilot, on Monday staged a protest in Jaipur demanding the immediate restoration of student union elections. The Rajasthan Police used water cannons to disperse the protesters when, after a demonstration, tried to breach police barricades to march towards the chief minister's residence in Civil Lines area. A mild scuffle broke out between the police and NSUI workers, after which over 30 party leaders and workers, including Ladnun MLA Mukesh Bhakar and NSUI state president Vinod Jakhar, were detained. Speaking to the media after the protest, Pilot accused the BJP government in the state led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma of deliberately delaying various elections, including panchayat and urban body polls. He said the state government was working in a dictatorial manner, taking inspiration from Delhi. 'This is a double-engine government that is doing nothing. When elections arrive, they raise issues of Hindu-Muslim, temple-mosque and try to polarise voters. If people continue to vote based on religion and caste, this will happen,' he said. 'They are scared to lose, hence they are adopting tactics to crush the voice of students,' he said. Pilot claimed that students across the state are seeking elections and criticised the BJP for having 'no valid reason' to halt the process. Responding to the allegations, Deputy CM Prem Chand Bairwa said it was the previous Congress government under Ashok Gehlot that had stopped the student union elections. Students should be questioning Ashok Gehlot about why elections weren't held during his tenure. We are committed to the welfare of students,' Bairwa stated.

Modi tells NDA meet Oppn scored self-goal on Sindoor
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hit out at opposition parties while addressing lawmakers from the National Democratic Alliance, saying that by criticising the government on Operation Sindoor they forced a discussion on an issue that was 'his turf'. Modi took potshots at Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, without naming him. 'He said there is an opposition leader prone to making childish comments. (ANI) A resolution saluting the valour of the armed forces and hailing the Prime Minister's 'unwavering resolve, visionary statesmanship and resolute command' was passed at the meeting. According to people privy to the details, the PM while speaking about Operation Sindoor, India's military strikes against terror camps in Pakistan and PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir), said the Opposition scored a self goal by seeking a discussion on the issue in Parliament. 'The PM said the Opposition must be ruing its decision to force a discussion… he said he was standing there to defend the country and even the gods gave their support to him,' said a party leader, speaking on condition of anonymity. A special discussion on the operation took place in both Houses of Parliament, with the PM speaking on the issue in the Lok Sabha on July 29. In the Rajya Sabha, the Opposition walked out in protest against the PM's absence when the government fielded Union home minister Amit Shah to speak on the issue. Modi took potshots at Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, without naming him. 'He said there is an opposition leader prone to making childish comments. 'He spoke about the statements made by Gandhi about the territorial issues and security of the country,' Rijiju said. The resolution passed at the meeting saluted 'the unmatched courage and unwavering commitment of our armed forces, who showed heroic valour during Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev.' We pay our deepest condolences and respects to those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack,' the resolution said. The lawmakers from the BJP and its allies, the TDP, the JDU and other parties also felicitated the 'exceptional leadership' displayed by Prime Minister Modi. 'His unwavering resolve, visionary statesmanship and resolute command have not only steered the nation with purpose but also ignited a renewed spirit of unity and pride in the hearts of all Indians,' it said. Operation Sindoor was executed in response to April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which India said was perpetrated by Pakistan-based terrorist group, The Resistance Front (TRF), a front and proxy of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. The attack left 26 dead. 'If there is a terrorist attack on India, a fitting reply will be given. We will give a befitting response on our terms only… Secondly, India will not tolerate any nuclear blackmail. India will strike precisely and decisively at the terrorist hideouts developing under the cover of nuclear blackmail…Thirdly, we will not differentiate between the government sponsoring terrorism and the masterminds of terrorism,' the resolution noted, highlighting the new normal in dealing with the issue. A reference was also made to the government's focus on indigenisation of defence capabilities and to the diplomatic outreach that was launched after the operation.

Amid din, RS approves extension of President's Rule in Manipur
Amid uproar by Opposition members over the Bihar electoral roll revision, the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday approved the resolution to extend President's Rule in Manipur for six more months. The resolution was passed last week in the Lok Sabha, where proceedings were again washed out Tuesday due to the Opposition's protest. In Rajya Sabha, when the proceedings resumed after earlier adjournments at 2 pm, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai moved the resolution approving President's Rule in Manipur for another six months beyond August 13 even as Opposition members continued to call for a discussion on the SIR. Deputy Chairman Harivansh said it was a 'Constitutional obligation' to pass the resolution. He then asked YSRCP member Subhash Chandra Bose Pilli to speak on the resolution. Opposition MPs however started raising slogans against the SIR. BJD MP from Odisha Muzibulla Khan said, 'When Manipur law and order situation was bad, Article 356 was imposed. Today, the situation of law and order in Odisha is bad…' 'Double engine government in Manipur failed…. Has the situation improved after so many months of President's Rule or not? Minister should inform us…,' he said. Rai said a rift was formed between two communities in Manipur due to a court order. 'A rift was created between two communities in Manipur due to an order of the High Court related to a dispute on reservations. Those who say it is religious violence are wrong…' Rai said. Rai also said Home Minister Amit Shah had undertaken a tour of violence- affected areas in Manipur. 'He (Shah) met high level officials, security forces, civil society members…' Rai said, adding that the northeast has witnessed widespread development under the Narendra Modi-led government. He also said since the President's Rule was imposed in Manipur, only one incident of violence has been reported. The resolution was passed by voice vote. The House was then adjourned for the day.
