Green energy to light up the world in future: Bhatti
The Deputy CM visited the Greenko Integrated Power Project in Pinnapuram village of Orvakal Mandal in Kurnool district on Saturday.
Highlighting Telangana's vision for boosting renewable energy, he said that MoUs worth ₹1 lakh crore had been signed for green power generation in Telangana. He noted that the Telangana government had introduced the 2025 New Energy Policy, aiming to achieve 20,000 MW green power by 2029–30.
Bhatti observed that, with power demand increasing across the country, the Telangana government was exploring various avenues to enhance power generation and move toward surplus electricity. 'Every product in the world requires electricity. To increase production, electricity supply must be abundant. If production increases, employment and the state's GDP will grow. It's a continuous cycle,' he said.
Bhatti Vikramarka pointed out that electricity consumption was rising across India, and if power was generated solely through coal, it would increase costs and pollution, impacting the environment. Hence, like elsewhere in the world, the nation was rapidly shifting toward green power, he emphasized.
As part of his visit, the Deputy Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of the project site via helicopter. He inspected key infrastructure including the upper and lower reservoirs of the closed-loop pumped storage system, the powerhouse complex, and the advanced substation.
The Deputy CM reviewed the integration of solar, wind, and 1,680 MW of hydro pumped storage with a storage cycle of four hours, twice daily.
Telangana principal secretary to Energy Department Sandeep Kumar Sultania, TRANSCO CMD Krishna Bhaskar, GENCO CMD Harish and others were present on the occasion.

Stop Srisailam water diversion: Bhatti
Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday urged Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu to immediately halt the diversion of 11 TMC of water per day through the Pothireddypadu lift irrigation system from the upper reaches of the Srisailam Dam. "Drawal of just 1 TMC of water per day via the left canal of Nagarjuna Sagar irrigates lakhs of acres. Diverting 11 TMC daily through Pothireddypadu causes severe injustice to farmers in the erstwhile Nalgonda and Khammam districts. This diversion would result in the Srisailam reservoir being emptied within just 25 days," Bhatti said, addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone for the Jawahar Lift Irrigation Scheme, being constructed at a cost of 600 crore—in Vangaveedu, Madhira assembly constituency, alongside ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Vakiti Srihari. During the UPA govt's tenure, he had appealed to Sonia Gandhi to exclude the seven tribal mandals of the Bhadrachalam division from the Polavaram project's submergence area, which were indeed excluded through legal amendments. However, the subsequent BJP govt at the Centre and the BRS govt in the state issued an ordinance handing over two lakh acres of tribal land to the Polavaram project. "If AP CM genuinely cares about tribal welfare, he should reduce the height of Polavaram to safeguard these two lakh acres," Bhatti stated. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Things Women Should NEVER Wear! He emphasised that only after Telangana's irrigation projects upstream of the Godavari are completed and the state's share of both net and flood waters is clearly determined, should the AP govt raise the issue of Banakacherla. Highlighting the significance of the Jawahar Lift Irrigation Scheme, Bhatti pointed out that, despite raising the issue in the assembly for ten years, the previous BRS govt neglected the project. "Farmers in the tail-end regions of Madhira constituency have long suffered, as the water flow path enters AP territory before returning to Telangana. After the Congress assumed power, the irrigation minister sanctioned 600 crore for the scheme, which will irrigate 30,000 acres. Madhira constituency has five mandals, each with a natural water source between every two mandals. Using these resources, two projects have already been constructed, and now work on the scheme has commenced." Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). All govt buildings to be solar powered: Bhatti
Hyderabad: Solar power plants will be installed on all Gram Panchayats and government buildings including the state Secretariat, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has said on Saturday. The Deputy CM held a video conference with district Collectors and reviewed the implementation of Green Energy Policy under which solar power plants will be installed on all government buildings. Bhatti instructed that plans of all district collector offices, parking areas, and canteens should be sent to Hyderabad. Since all collectorates in the state have been built in the same design, the designs required for the installation of solar power plants would be sent from Hyderabad. However, if any collectorate has better designs, the respective collectors may send them to Hyderabad. He stated that solar power plants will be installed in all government offices across the state, from Gram Panchayat buildings to the Secretariat, to produce power on a large scale. A questionnaire related to the details required for setting up solar power plants will be sent to the collectors, and they must fill it in completely and send it to the office of the Principal Secretary for Energy within a week. Apart from government buildings, the Deputy CM directed that solar power plants should also be installed on government schools, junior colleges, degree colleges, and higher education institution buildings, and details of these buildings should be sent. The collectors were also instructed to send details of the large vacant lands available under the jurisdiction of the Irrigation Department and the Roads & Buildings Department. The Deputy CM explained to the collectors that under the ROFR Act, 6.70 lakh acres of land were distributed by the then Congress government in agency areas, and that, under the Nallamala Declaration, the government plans to provide free solar pump sets in these lands through the Indira Solar Girijana Vikasam scheme. As part of the Nallamala Declaration, the programme has already started in Achampet constituency, and the state government is planning to launch it in certain areas of Adilabad district this month.
