Is Tory Lanez OK?!
On Monday (May 12) morning, Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was reportedly in the yard of California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi. But instead of enjoying his scheduled time in the yard, Lanez was taken to a hospital after another inmate stabbed him, according to TMZ.
The motivation behind the attack remains unclear at the time of this publishing. But according to a source for TMZ, the 32-year-old was wheeled to a Bakersfield hospital, outside of the prison. Although TMZ reported Lanez's injuries are not life-threatening, many folks online rushed to his defense. The hashtag #FreeTory even began to trend on X.

@horriblemercy even accused Roc Nation of being behind the stabbing. They wrote, 'Roc Nation must've seen that release date, appeal been looking too good.'
Other folks online didn't have any nice things to say on the matter. 'Tory Lanez got stabbed and it's sunny outside it's gonna be a good week,' @jul13an wrote.
Another user, @nicole13209 called out the musician's fans saying, 'So…Tory lanez gets stabbed and it's 'guys he's still human omg prayers up for him' but when Megan gets shot it's conspiracies and 'get up on your good foot' ???'
News of the 'Say It' rapper's attack comes just one week after he posted a picture of himself in prison clothes. By the looks of the photo, Lanez has been working out big time, gaining some serious muscles. Outside of just working out, Lanez has also been releasing music from behind bars. His last project, titled 'PETERSON,' was released in March. Lanez announced a new album is also on the way.
Lanez was sentenced to 10 years at a state prison for shooting Texas rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. Despite Lanez being behind bars, him and Megan— real name Megan Pete— are still battling each other in court.
As The Root previously reported, the 'Mamushi' rapper previously accused Lanez of starting a smear campaign against her. She also sued blogger Milagro 'Gramz' Cooper for defamation, cyberstalking, and emotional distress after Gramz allegedly conspired with Lanez to spread lies about her.

Kevin Costner Wants Judge To Dismiss Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against Him Costner is looking to have a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him by a stunt performer on his Western movie dismissed. Devyn LaBella performed as a stunt double for lead actress Ella Hunt but claimed in a legal document that she was made to perform an unscripted rape scene without notice on the set of the second installment back in May 2023. However, Costner denied her claims as "absolutely false," explaining in a new court document obtained by TMZ that she was happy during the shoot and even sent a text to a supervisor expressing her joy after wrapping up work on set. "Thank you for these wonderful weeks! I so appreciate you! I learned so much, and thank you again. I'm really happy it worked out the way it did, too. Have a great rest of the shoot, and yes, talk soon!" LaBella purportedly wrote in the text. The Actor's Lawyers Deny The Allegations According to the complaint, LaBella's contract, governed by SAG-AFTRA, required 48 hours' notice for any scenes involving simulated sex or nudity, and is still subject to the performer's approval. The documents stated that Hunt's contract required a "coordinator for all intimacy scenes," but weeks into filming, and "without incident," LaBella was told to stand in for the actress during a "scripted, aggressive and intimate rape scene" due to its "physical nature." She claims the scene was an impromptu addition by Costner after the film's lead actress allegedly refused to perform it, and that the event left her traumatized and experiencing "reminders of shame, humiliation, and complete lack of control." However, Costner, via his lawyers Marty Singer and T. Wayne Harman, has denied the allegations, disputing LaBella's account of events, stating, "There was no anger or resentment, only enthusiasm and gratitude" after the filming of the movie. Kevin Costner Gives His Own Account The "Yellowstone" actor, in a declaration, insisted that there was no violent rape scene on his set as he went further to share his version of events. Costner claims that on the day in question, LaBella was shooting a scene with actor Roger Ivens in a covered wagon and that she was fully clothed in an ankle-length dress with bike shorts underneath as they lay next to each other. Ivens then pulled up the hem of her dress and swung his legs over her body, which led to a situation where he fully covered her, but that was reportedly all that happened. There was no nudity, rape, simulated sex, or physical contact between LaBella and Ivens. The actor went further to say that while LaBella's dress may have been pulled up to her knees, the gown was always below her waist, and the pantaloons and petticoats were never touched. The Alleged Victim Claims She Has Suffered 'Permanent Trauma' Due To The Scene LaBella claimed that the incident greatly affected her career, and it left her with "permanent trauma that she will be required to address for years to come." According to People Magazine, she began therapy in June 2023 to address "symptoms" of her alleged experience, such as "sleep disturbance, fears of intimacy," and "anxiety." "On that day, I was left exposed, unprotected, and deeply betrayed by a system that promised safety and professionalism," she told the news outlet in a statement. "What happened to me shattered my trust and forever changed how I move through this industry." Tory Lanez's lawyers push to overturn conviction in Megan Thee Stallion shooting case
As Tory Lanez serves a 10-year prison sentence for the shooting that injured Megan Thee Stallion, the rapper's lawyers are working to appeal his 2022 conviction. Speaking to a panel of judges in California's Second District Court of Appeal on Aug. 18, Lanez's attorney, Laura Cepero, argued that the DNA evidence the prosecution presented during his trial was misleading, according to Billboard and XXL Magazine. "It is actually marginally more likely that another member of the African American population touched this gun over Mr. Peterson," Cepero said, according to the outlets. "If our jury had heard that Mr. Peterson maybe one in a million touched the gun, I believe that would have been enough to tip that scale and show reasonable doubt." Another attorney on Lanez's defense team, Jose A. Baez, told USA TODAY in a statement, "I would say it is a statistical fact that any random African American male was more likely a contributor to the DNA on the gun than Daystar Peterson. "In fact, the DNA community has a random profile that is used as a control sample, and that profile was determined to match the mixture found on the gun rather than Daystar Peterson," he continued. "To be clear, it would be reckless and a complete fabrication to say that Tory's DNA was on that gun and to not exclude him as a contributor." 'Recovering remarkably': Tory Lanez's father gives health update after prison stabbing During arguments on behalf of the prosecution, according to courtroom footage shared by XXL Magazine and journalist Meghann Cuniff, California Deputy Attorney General Michael C. Keller said, "There's three times in which (Lanez) tacitly admitted to being the shooter." Among the evidence, Keller said, was a text to Megan in which he apologized to her for something that "never should have happened," blamed alcohol for the unspecified action and said she "probably" would never talk to him again. During the trial, Lanez denied that the messages were related to the shooting. "He was clearly accepting responsibility for something very big," Keller told the judges, per the videos. USA TODAY has reached out to the California Attorney General's office for comment. During Lanez's closely watched trial, it was determined that the DNA found on the handgun that discharged the bullet was inconclusive. Tory Lanez dealt legal blow after prison stabbing The oral arguments took place in Los Angeles nearly a week after appeals court judges largely denied two of his petitions related to the case, according to court records reviewed by USA TODAY. In the filings, known as habeas corpus petitions, Lanez's legal team reportedly challenged his conviction by alleging they have obtained new testimony, according to Rolling Stone and Billboard. They also once again cast doubt on some of the evidence presented during his 2022 trial, the outlets reported. The appeals court rulings were filed Aug. 12. Previously, in a May 19 TikTok post, Megan hit back after Lanez's team indicated they had new information that corroborated his claim that he did not fire the weapon. "At what point are y'all gonna stop making me have to re-live being shot BY TORY !?" she wrote. "At what point are Tory and y'all FANS gonna stop lying? ... FACTS ARE FACTS, he did it, it was PROVEN IN COURT." In May, Lanez was hospitalized after he was stabbed multiple times by a fellow inmate. Afterward, his father announced that he was "recovering remarkably." Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted in 2022 of shooting Megan in the ankle after an alleged argument in the Los Angeles area.
