Ex-Palace co-owner Textor ‘definitely interested' in buying Wednesday
The Sheffield Star has reported that Textor told journalist Alan Myers he wanted to buy 'a traditional English club' but has not yet made any approach to embattled Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri.
Textor said: 'It's true that I am looking for a traditional English club to buy, or with which I can partner… I just have not spoken with anybody at Sheffield Wednesday yet and I am monitoring the situation, hoping to better understand it.
'I'm definitely interested, It's a lot to solve in a short amount of time with regards to taking advantage of the transfer window but it's definitely a club and community I would like to help.'
Thai businessman Chansiri has come under increasing pressure to sell the club, which he bought for a reported £37.5million from Milan Mandaric in 2015.
He recently confirmed he had rejected one consortium's £40m bid, while talks with various other interested parties have stalled.
Wednesday have lurched from one crisis to another in recent seasons and are currently under three English Football League embargoes for various financial breaches.

Wages were not paid on time for the third-successive month in July and players refused to play in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Burnley last Saturday.
That heightened concern within the EFL that the club would not be able to fulfil Sunday's opening Sky Bet Championship fixture at Leicester.
Under EFL rules, the delayed payments allowed key players Josh Windass and Michael Smith to walk away from their contracts for free to join Wrexham and Preston respectively.
Amid the summer chaos, former manager Danny Rohl initially failed to return for pre-season training before eventually departing by mutual agreement and being replaced by his assistant Henrik Pedersen.
Captain Barry Bannan, who signed a new deal with the Owls at the weekend, has since said he did not think the players would boycott Sunday's game, but it has been reported the players had considered it.
The Owls have sold out their allocation for the trip to the King Power Stadium, where Sheffield Wednesday Supporters' Trust have planned a large-scale protest.
The Trust has called on fans to delay entry to their seats until five minutes after kick-off, while a large banner will be displayed in 'a visibly empty away end'.
Textor sold his stake in Palace as they bid to overturn UEFA's decision to demote them from the Europa League to the Conference League under its multi-club ownership rules.
He added: 'I often cite (Wednesday) as an example of what's wrong with football today, the lack of parity, because of the influence of money and I wish there was a system where the Sheffield Wednesdays of the world could be champions again.'

It has been revealed that Lucy Bronze is among five Lionesses to be nominated for this year's Women's Ballon d'Or. The 33-year-old from Berwick-upon-Tweed helped England clinch two consecutive European titles with a victory over Spain in the Women's Euros in Switzerland last month. This most recent nomination is not the first time Bronze's achievements have been recognised. In 2019, she became the first English footballer to win the UEFA Women's Player of the Year Award, and the following year she was named FIFA Best Player. The Ballon d'Or is a French award with the shortlist built by journalists from France Football magazine. Four English players have also been nominated for the Men's Ballon d'Or, with Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Cole Palmer and Declan Rice all on the list. The ceremony takes place in Paris on Monday 22 September.

Profits rise at NI family firm despite £200m fall in turnover
W&R Barnett Holdings saw profits before tax go up despite a reduction in turnover to £1.5bn in the financial year ending 31 July 2024. The holding company brings together different enterprises including commodity trading, storage and agribusiness firms, all held as subsidiaries. It is a fourth-generation family business, having been founded in 1896 as a grain merchant. The company now also deals in bulk commodities, derivatives, molasses, feed mills and furniture manufacturing. The most recently-published accounts reveal 'satisfactory' company performance, in the opinion of the directors. The directors state: 'Turnover decreased in the year due to falling commodity prices of both paper and feed ingredients, with volumes stable year on year. 'Profitability increased during the year due to improved trading conditions.' W&R Barnett Holdings made three major acquisitions in the period covered by the accounts: Challenge Packaging Limited in December 2023, a 85% stake in Andean Life Limited in 31 January and in March 2024 a 100% purchase of K-Bins Limited. These acquisitions have continued beyond the period covered by the accounts, with the purchase of a majority position in English furniture manufacturer the Symphony Group. Turnover at the holding company fell by 13% between the 2024 and 2024 financial years, from £1.8bn to £1.57bn. The company's margins were helped by a proportional fall in net operating expenses of 14%, from £1.74bn to £1.5bn. There were also increases to some areas of income, with interest receivable getting a 66% boost from £4.4m to £7.3m. The directors also describe their balance sheet as 'strong', with cash at bank and in hand staying around £126m across the two years. The amount owed to creditors due within one year was also largely consistent, with a £2m rise to £190m in 2024, while money owed by debtors dropped by £10m to £204m. There was also a 74% rise in the value of investments, from £30m to £52m. Average monthly staff numbers rose by over 100 at W&R Barnett, from 1,703 to 1,806, while there was a 12% increase in total staff costs, as that figure rose from £83.4m to £93.6m. Overall, the holding company saw an 8% growth in profits before tax between 2023 and 2024, rising from £61.9m to £66.9m. The director's report says the firm is continuing to 'invest in research and development', including in the "manufacturing of animal feeds and the manufacture and design of corrugated board, cases and packaging solutions'. Recent years have seen W&R Barnett Holding ranked as one of Northern Ireland's most successful companies both for revenue and profits before tax. It was eighth in the Belfast Telegraph Top 100 Companies in partnership with Grant Thornton in 2025.
