BTS' V's FRI(END)S gets played in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3
The popular American teen romance drama dropped the first two episodes of its season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty on July 16. Viewers of the show who are also fans of BTS swiftly identified a familiar tune in the third instalment's first episode. It was none other than the K-pop boy band member V 's hit single FRI(END)S. The song was played during an intimate scene between Steven (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor (Rain Spencer).

The use of the song in the particular scene just felt right as the characters Steven and Taylor went through a lot to finally transition from friends to lovers, which echoes the theme of Kim Taehyung's FRI(END)S. The R&B song delves into the complexities of a relationship wobbling between friendship and something more romantic. Due to this, fans felt that the song "fits so perfectly" in The Summer I Turned Pretty's scene.
"This scene with FRI(END)S by #V as bgm! It's like they were made for each other.
The perfect match," an X-user wrote. V's fans were also happy at his songs getting global recognition. Some fans criticized HYBE LABELS, the company behind BTS, for their lack of acknowledgement of this impressive feat of V. Since it's "not an everyday occurance", the label should have hyped it enough, they felt.
However, they believe that BTS ARMY will do their part and promote the achivement of the artist. "thank goodness he has such an amazing and dedicated fandom supporting him! Let's get busy," a fan wrote. This further underscored the enduring love and that V enjoys from his loyal fanbase.

Diversifying literature for Delhiites
When Vesmir moved to Delhi from Madhya Pradesh in 2019, he realised that the metropolis provided him with a golden opportunity to connect with other readers. But he also noticed a difference in how Delhi reads — there were people who only wanted to read 'elite' literary works, those who preferred contemporary authors and didn't want to challenge themselves with other genres and access to reading communities was reserved for specific groups of people. When it comes to reading, your community should not be a privilege, he says, and that was what made him start Tangerine in January last year, with a group of vibrant readers. The group meets once a month for themed discussions, movie screenings, and author meet-and-greets. 'When I started Tangerine, the goal was to make people read the books I loved… but I wanted to diversify and make people read books of all genres,' says Vesmir. But when he announced Tangerine would expand beyond readingWestern and Indian authors, the attendance at the monthly meetings dropped. To bring in more people, Vesmir began organising movie screenings and activities like themed drawing and blackout poetry. 'Today, Tangerine has a mix of people — college students, working professionals, authors ...but still, sometimes, it is a struggle to get people to read what they don't want to,' says Vesmir. He is committed to bringing books that are not considered 'mainstream' to Delhi's reading community. For instance, this month, the community plans on reading The Vegetarian by Han Kang, a South Korean author, and had previously picked up The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida by Sri Lankan writer Shehan Karunatilaka. By bringing these books into spotlight, Vesmir aims to introduce readers to varied writing styles, fresh topics, and diverse cultures. Cultural unfamiliarity and language barriers also pose challenges to readers in the city, he says. Authors such asOcean Vuong, who writes in English and in lyrical style, tend to be more popular among the readers. Despite translated works often being the most palatable for the community of readers, introducing people to new concepts and authors has its benefits, feels Vesmir. 'Social media continues to be the bedrock of my initiative as I am able to reach out to more people and arrange collaborations,' he adds.

Three HYBE Employees Jailed For Insider Trading Linked To BTS Enlistment: Report
Last Updated: Three HYBE employees were sentenced for insider trading related to BTS's enlistment. The Seoul Southern District Court imposed fines and suspended prison sentences. Three employees associated with HYBE Corporation have been sentenced for insider trading related to confidential information about BTS's military enlistment. The Seoul Southern District Court delivered its verdict on Tuesday, imposing fines and suspended prison sentences on the individuals for violating the Financial Investment Services and Capital Markets Act. Kim, a 37-year-old employee from HYBE's subsidiary Source Music, was handed a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. He was also fined 231 million won (approximately Rs 1.45 crore). Former employees Lee, 33, from BigHit Music, and another 41-year-old from Belift Lab received six-month suspended jail terms and fines of 51 million won and 65 million won, respectively. The court found that the employees had used non-public information about BTS's enlistment to avoid financial losses by selling their HYBE shares before the official announcement. The firm revealed in a YouTube video on June 14, 2022, that BTS would be halting group activities due to member Jin's military service. This news caused HYBE's stock to plummet by 24.78% the following day. According to the court, 'An artist's actions have a significant impact on revenue in an entertainment company, so whether they continue or suspend activities is a highly sensitive matter." It added, 'This offence deserves strong social condemnation as it is a serious crime that compromises the fairness of the capital market." In addition to the fines, the court also ordered the confiscation of the amount equivalent to the financial losses the employees avoided through their actions. Meanwhile, BTS has resumed group preparations and is currently undergoing a two-month creative boot camp in the United States. The band is expected to release a new album in the spring of 2026. All members, except Jin—who is on a solo world tour—are in Los Angeles. Jungkook is reportedly planning a solo tour as well, and V recently performed at Lollapalooza Berlin 2025, where he gave a heartfelt shoutout to Jimin for his unwavering support.
