CBFC Tones Down Sensual Scenes, Alters Words In Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5: Report
Last Updated:
CBFC asked for multiple audio-visual changes in Housefull 5, including replacing words and trimming sensual visuals by 2 seconds.
Akshay Kumar's much-anticipated film Housefull 5 is gearing up for a grand release on June 6, 2025, and ahead of its debut, the movie underwent a round of changes as mandated by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film boasts a star-studded ensemble including Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Sonam Bajwa.
The CBFC has granted Housefull 5 a U/A 16+ certificate but not without asking for several modifications. As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, certain audio elements had to be altered or removed. These include the replacement of the words 'item' and 'haram', while a specific dialogue at the 1 hour 53 minute mark has been completely cut. Another line, featuring the phrase 'nikal dungi', was also modified.
What's even more intriguing is that Housefull 5 will release with two versions, each having a different climax. This marks a first for a Bollywood film. Both versions, however, share the same runtime – 165 minutes and 48 seconds – as per the certification details. Whether this bold move of offering dual climaxes will give the film an edge at the box office remains to be seen.
With a release lined up for the Bakra Eid weekend, Housefull 5 is expected to open to packed houses. The film also features an impressive supporting cast including Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, Chitrangada Singh, Soundarya Sharma, Chunky Pandey, Nikitin Dheer, and Johnny Lever.

Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 Sees Strong Start With Rs 3.88 Crore Advance Booking
Last Updated: Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 is off to a flying start, earning ₹3.88 crore in advance bookings and selling over 25,000 tickets ahead of its June 6 release. With just days to go until its grand release, Housefull 5 is already generating major momentum at the box office. The latest installment in the beloved comedy franchise has raked in a whopping ₹3.88 crore in advance bookings—five days ahead of its June 6 release date. Directed by Tanu Mansukhani, the film boasts a star-studded ensemble including Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Jackie Shroff, Fardeen Khan, Chitrangda Singh, Nana Patekar, and more. According to data from Sacnilk, the film has already sold 25,429 tickets across India. Of the ₹3.88 crore in advance sales, ₹90.88 lakh has been collected so far, with ₹36.41 lakh coming from the Hindi-language version alone. And with interest surging, these figures are only expected to climb as opening day approaches. Adding a never-before-seen twist to the theatrical experience, Housefull 5 will release in two versions—Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B—each featuring a different climax. This dual-ending experiment marks a first in Indian cinema, allowing audiences to choose their preferred finale. So far, 14,666 tickets have been sold for one version, while the other has clocked in 9,960. Despite the buzz, Housefull 5 faces a tough box office clash with Thug Life, the Kamal Haasan-led Tamil actioner directed by Mani Ratnam, which hits cinemas on June 5. However, expectations remain sky-high. Trade analysts predict Housefull 5 could outpace Akshay Kumar's previous blockbusters like Gold (₹25.25 crore opening) and Mission Mangal (₹29.16 crore opening). Industry insiders believe the film has the potential to notch a ₹30 crore Day 1 collection—a first for the actor—and become one of his biggest international openers. Releasing on over 500 screens nationwide, Housefull 5 is shaping up to be one of the biggest comedies of the year. The franchise, which kicked off in 2010, has delivered consistent box office successes with sequels in 2012, 2016, and 2019. This marks Akshay Kumar's return to the big screen after Kesari Chapter 2 and Sky Force, and all eyes are on whether Housefull 5 can deliver the franchise's biggest hit yet. Housefull 5 Overseas Advance Booking: Akshay Kumar aims at career best opening; Comic caper takes a positive start
Housefull 5 is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on June 6, 2025, and the international box office is already buzzing with excitement if advance bookings are anything to go by. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the comic caper's unique dual-climax strategy, peppy songs, and a fresh murder-mystery angle set on a luxury cruise have built curiosity among audiences. A USD 5 million opening weekend looks achievable, potentially making it Akshay Kumar 's biggest overseas opener ever. While the international response is electric, advance bookings in India are decent but slightly underwhelming, with hopes pinned on a last-minute surge. Let's analyse the advance bookings of Housefull 5 in key international markets in further detail. In the United States and Canada, Housefull 5 is off to a fantastic start. Early reports indicate robust ticket sales, with multiplex chains like AMC and Cineplex reporting fast-filling shows. If this momentum holds, Housefull 5 could surpass Akshay's previous overseas hits like Housefull 4 and Good Newz in 1 week flat. Singapore is also showing impressive numbers. Advance bookings have picked up nicely since the trailer release. In Australia, Housefull 5 is performing strongly, outpacing Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava but trailing slightly behind Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. New Zealand and Fiji are seeing phenomenal traction. Four days out, Housefull 5 is tracking at double the advance bookings of 2024's Diwali releases. In the UAE, advance bookings opened today, and early signs point to a strong response. The Eid festival is expected to drive huge footfalls. In India, advance bookings are off to an average start. Less than 10000 tickets have been sold in top national chains at the time of this article in 2 days. An opening of Rs 20 crore net seems difficult unless the momentum shifts in favour of the film. All that Housefull 5 now requires is positive word of mouth from the fans of the franchise. Every film of the franchise has emerged a hit or more at the box office and Housefull 5 needs to keep the track record intact. Have you booked your tickets for Housefull 5 yet? If yes, which Housefull 5 are you watching? A or B?
