Lim, 64, is facing an amended charge of using his position as then Penang chief minister to solicit RM3.3mil in bribes as an inducement to assist former director of Consortium Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd (CZCSB) Datuk Zarul Ahmad Mohd Zulkifli in securing the undersea tunnel project worth RM6.34bil.
Lim allegedly committed the offence at the Penang Chief Minister's Office, Level 28, Komtar, George Town, between January 2011 and August 2017.

In the second amended charge, Lim is accused of soliciting a 10% profit from the company as gratification to secure the project.
The offence was allegedly committed near The Gardens Hotel, Lingkaran Syed Putra, Mid Valley City here, in March 2011.
Lim, who is Bagan MP, faces two further charges of causing two plots of land worth RM208.8mil, belonging to the Penang government, to be disposed of to two companies linked to the project.

The court dismissed Perak FC's claim that Lim was 'ill-equipped' for the role, attributing the team's struggles to the club's mismanagement. Paramalingam deemed the termination premature, stating Perak FC's mid-season performance (11th place) was close to the targeted ninth position. He criticised the club's decision as a knee-jerk reaction, suggesting financial pressures influenced the termination. The court highlighted that Perak FC's financial struggles predated Lim's appointment, undermining their justification for dismissal. Lim's legal team, Edward Andrew Saw Keat Leong and Jerry Low Kok Kiang, represented him, while Perak FC was defended by lawyer Weera Premananda. Lim filed a complaint with the Perak Department of Industrial Relations on June 27, 2023, seeking unpaid salary for the remaining contract period. Johor cops detain four bikers for reckless riding in Iskandar Puteri
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested four local men for performing dangerous stunts on motorcycles, including 'Superman' poses, during an early morning patrol near the Second Link Expressway. Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the suspects, aged between 18 and 25, were detained early Sunday morning (Aug 10) between KM15J and KM12.9J of the expressway heading towards Gelang Patah. 'They were riding without regard for their own safety and that of other road users,' he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. ACP Kumarasan said police would continue to step up operations and take stern action against stubborn road bullies and illegal racers who endanger others. He also reminded teenagers to stay away from such immoral activities or risk facing the full brunt of the law. 'Parents and guardians must monitor their children's movements, especially those going out at night on motorcycles. Don't wait until it's too late to regret,' he said. In an unrelated matter, ACP Kumarasan confirmed two unrelated fatal accidents that claimed the lives of two 20-year-old local men. He said the first incident occurred at about 8.30pm on Saturday along Jalan Nusa Perintis towards Nusantara and involved an orange-coloured motorcycle and a silver four-wheel-drive vehicle. 'Initial investigations found that the motorcyclist had rammed into the rear of the moving vehicle. The victim suffered injuries to his right arm and internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,' he said. ACP Kumarasan added that the second accident took place at 3am on Sunday along Lebuh Nusajaya heading towards Gelang Patah and involved a silver motorcycle and a black car. He said the motorcyclist had switched to the right lane to make a U-turn when it was hit from behind by the car travelling straight in the same lane. 'The impact threw the rider onto the car's windscreen. He died at the scene from severe head injuries,' he said. ACP Kumarasan added that both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

288 arrested as police raid illegal pubs, karaoke rooms run by foreigners
KUALA LUMPUR: Police raided 22 entertainment outlets and restaurants that had been illegally converted into pubs and karaoke rooms, allegedly operated by foreigners, during Op Mega Pusat Hiburan in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur last night. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M. Kumar said the operation involved the department's Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7), along with the Selangor and Kuala Lumpur D7 units, local authorities, and the Fire and Rescue Department. "A total of 16 premises in Selangor and six in Kuala Lumpur were raided. They are all believed to be operating without licences and employing illegal foreign workers," he said in a statement today. Kumar said the raids led to the arrest of 288 individuals aged between 18 and 51, comprising Myanmar, Nepalese and Bangladeshi nationals. He said the detainees are being investigated under multiple laws, including Section 186 of the Penal Code, Entertainment Act, Excise Act 1976, Customs Act 1976 and Immigration Act 1959/63. Cash, entertainment equipment, various brands of alcohol and several operational documents were also seized. – BERNAMA
