The ministry informed that the Maharashtra govt has adopted several steps to mitigate the crisis, including the installation of AI-powered cameras to monitor animal movement, deployment of Quick Response Teams (QRTs) in villages bordering the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, and timely disbursal of financial relief to victims of wild animal attacks. The center's reply further stated that funds are being utilised for solar fencing and construction of physical barriers to limit wild animal incursions.
Dhanorkar, however, questioned the effectiveness of these measures, alleging that despite rising casualties, the response from both the Centre and the state remains "confined to paperwork". She argued that under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, the chief wildlife warden has the authority to order the capture or shoot animals posing a threat to human life, "yet decisive action to protect citizens is missing".
"The deaths and injuries clearly show that existing deterrents like solar fencing and fencing barriers have failed on the ground," Dhanorkar said, pressing for stronger intervention to safeguard villagers living in forest-fringe areas.
The Chandrapur MP alleged that while the Centre has underlined its continued support and funding for conflict-mitigation projects, the mounting human toll highlights the widening gap between policy measures and their impact on the ground.

Pampa on the path for inclusion in National River Conservation Plan
ALAPPUZHA: The central government has initiated steps to include the Pampa River under the National River Conservation Plan (NRCP), a multi-crore initiative aimed at protecting major rivers in the country. Union Ministry for Jal Shakti has asked the state government to submit a detailed report as part of the inclusion process. Kodikunnil Suresh MP said the ministry sought the report to facilitate conservation efforts for the river, which holds significant environmental and religious importance. 'The Pampa is closely linked to the Sabarimala shrine and major religious gatherings such as the Maramon and Cherukolpuzha conventions, giving it a sanctity comparable to that of the Ganga. We had submitted a representation to the central government requesting its inclusion in the NRCP. After considering my letter, the ministry has asked the state government to prepare and submit a report,' Suresh said. He added that the project can help conserve the river. 'Pollution levels are high on many stretches due to large-scale dumping of waste by local bodies. In several areas, destruction of the riverbank is a major challenge. Inclusion in the NRCP will give a much-needed boost to conservation efforts,' he said. Once the state government's report is submitted, the Centre will prepare a detailed project to prevent wastewater discharge into the river, remove waste, and construct water-purification plants. It will also fund riverbank-protection measures, including the construction of river walls. Technical assistance will also be provided to the state government and local self-government institutions.

Back ‘Telugu bidda' as next V-P: Revanth
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, while welcoming INDIA Bloc's decision to field Justice B Sudarshan Reddy as their Vice-Presidential candidate, on Tuesday called upon all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to rally in support for the Telugu 'bidda' on what is a 'proud moment for Telugus'. He made a fervent plea to MPs from TDP, YSRCP, BRS, Jana Sena, and MIM to work for his victory. Addressing a press conference at his residence, he appealed to AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, BRS President K Chandrashekar Rao, BJP MPs from the two states and Communist parties to support the 'constitutional expert' in the Vice-President elections. Urging that everyone should think beyond politics as it was the responsibility of Telugu people to unite and strive for the victory of the legal luminary, who was also the Chairman of the Independent Expert Committee constituted by Telangana government to study the Caste Census data, he said: 'The INDIA alliance's announcement of Justice Sudarshan Reddy as the Vice-President candidate has increased the respect of the Telugu people, especially the people of Telangana'. Revanth Reddy noted that it was a big honour for Telugu people that after P V Narasimha Rao, Justice Sudharshan Reddy was contesting for a top post in the country. He maintained that the INDIA Bloc candidate was not affiliated to any political outfit. Hence, parties from the two states should announce their unconditional support for Sudarshan Reddy. The Chief Minister recalled how N T Ram Rao had extended all out support to Prime Minister-designate P V Narasimha Rao in Nandyal Lok Sabha elections by not fielding a TDP candidate in 1991. NTR displayed his political maturity and wisdom by supporting a Congress leader, he said. The Chief Minister hoped that Telugu leaders from the two states would toe the NTR's line and support Sudarshan Reddy to safeguard the country's democratic spirit.
