The incident led the frightened boy to lodge a police report, and Shahmar was arrested the same day. The judge ordered the sentence to run concurrently with another offence, rejecting Shahmar's plea for leniency after the prosecution called for a deterrent sentence. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Sessions Court Judge Marlina Ibrahim delivered the verdict after the man maintained his guilty plea during the facts and sentencing hearing. Deputy Public Prosecutor Afiqah Alya called for a deterrent sentence, highlighting the gravity and prevalence of such offences, despite the unrepresented man's plea for leniency. The victim's ordeal came to light after she fled to her aunt's house, later revealing the abuse to her foster mother, who then reported the incident to the police. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
