Deborra-Lee Furness makes statement about 'betrayal' after Hugh Jackman divorce
'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,' Deborra-Lee began her statement just days after she officially filed for divorce from Hugh in New York, two years after they announced their separation.
'It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.'
She then specifically spoke about her 27-year marriage to Hugh, saying: 'This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage.
'I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.
'It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.
She then added 'that none of this is personal,' and said: 'We are all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random.
'We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognise and heal the broken parts of ourselves…I remain grateful,' she concluded her statement to DailyMail.com.
The mentions of 'betrayal' seemed to hint at adultery within the relationship, something that the couple had not spoken about before, despite various rumours that Hugh had cheated with his new partner.
Hugh and his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee, announced their separation in September 2023.
Just 16 months later, Hugh seemed to confirm his romance with Broadway actress Sutton Foster.
Hugh was seen watching Sutton on stage in Once Upon a Mattress in Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre in January 2025, and the pair were snapped later holding hands and having what appeared to be a dinner date.
This also came just months after Sutton filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years, Screenwriter Ted Griffin, in October 2024.
It is thought that Hugh and Sutton first met after starring in the Broadway show The Music Man together in 2022.
Hugh and Deborra-lee married in 1996 after meeting on the set of an Australian TV show, Correlli. The couple shares two adopted children named Oscar, 25, and Ava, 19.
Announcing their separation in September 2023, the couple was amicable.
'We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,' their joint statement to People at the time read. More Trending
'Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.'
'Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.
'We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.'

People seriously hurt after fairground ride plummets 50ft to ground
The terrifying incident took place last night People were seriously injured after a fairground ride plummeted 50 feet to the ground. The swing was spinning around in the air when it suddenly broke and crashed to the ground. Riders could be heard screaming in terror, and witnesses covered their faces with their hands, as reported by Need to Know. The shocking incident happened on Sunday, August 17. The ride was in Navsari, Gujarat, India. The injured, including two children, were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The ride operator also suffered serious injuries to the head and waist. Footage captured by an onlooker at the time shows the ride at its highest position, spinning with music playing. Feet can be seen dangling off the edge as people strapped in anticipated the drop. However, the ride seemingly malfunctions and slides down slightly before pausing briefly, then slamming to the ground. Onlookers scream before the footage goes black. According to the Associated Press, there were multiple people injured, including two children, a man, and a woman. As reported by People, authorities said the riders were taken to the hospital for treatment. According to reports by the newspaper Gujarat Samachar, fire department crews from Bilimora quickly arrived at the location to help with the rescue efforts. Meanwhile, the police secured the area and began investigating potential failures in maintenance and safety inspections. Those injured were transported to a private hospital in Bilimora for initial care. Such incidents have happened before. Last month, 23 people sustained injuries, and three were in critical condition, after a fairground attraction malfunctioned in Saudi Arabia, resulting in passengers plummeting to the ground. Footage captured the moment the 360 Big Pendulum ride gave way while operational. It caused the circular carousel that carries passengers to collide with the opposite end of the pendulum before crashing down to the ground. In 2022, a fairground ride plummeted from a height of 50 feet, injuring more than 50 adults and children. In footage captured of the moment, the ride appears to slow down while in the air, but instead of descending gently, it crashes to the ground with a loud thud. At the moment of impact, riders can be seen being thrown from their seats, while onlookers quickly evacuate the area. This incident took place on Sunday, September 4, in Punjab, northern India. Roller coasters produce G-forces, which indicate acceleration. Although contemporary coasters are engineered to reduce extreme forces, abrupt shifts in direction and speed can still be experienced as G-forces. In certain instances, these forces may contribute to injuries. For example, the swift motions of a roller coaster, particularly during descents and curves, can lead to whiplash, especially if the head lacks adequate support or if the individual has an existing neck issue.

Strictly's Dianne Buswell shares costly error after time away from boyfriend Joe Sugg
Strictly's Dianne Buswell shares costly error after time away from boyfriend Joe Sugg Strictly pro Dianne Buswell was left 'absolutely fuming' after suffering the consequences of a mistake she made whilst her boyfriend Joe Sugg was away from home Dianne Buswell has been talking about what happened to her when Joe was away from home (Image: Getty) Professional dancer Dianne Buswell has admitted she made a costly error whilst her partner, YouTuber Joe Sugg, was away on holiday. Dianne, 36, and Joe, 33, found love after meeting on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018. Since then, they have been inseparable and, in recent years, have talked about starting a family together in the future. However, that isn't all that has been discussed, as Australian-born Dianne told her 2024 Strictly partner, comedian Chris McCausland, about the ordeal she went through when Joe went away on holiday. Speaking about how often she drives on the 'Winning Isn't Everything with Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell' podcast, Dianne admitted to co-host Chris that she had received some parking tickets. She explained: 'The thing is, Joe normally takes me to the station in the morning, but he's been away fishing, caught his biggest fish that he ever has, and so he wasn't home. So I've had to drive my car to the station and leave it there. 'But what happens is, I get distracted, right, when I get out my car, got so many things on my mind that I forget to pay for the parking. And then, when I get back, I have a notice on my car, and it's happened two days in a row and I'm absolutely fuming about it.' Article continues below 'It is entirely my own fault. You know when you just see that little sticker on your car and you think, 'Oh God, here we go, there's another one, just throw that money away Di'.' Dianne Buswell and Joe Sugg met on Strictly (Image: Getty) Elsewhere, Dianne, who won Strictly in 2024 with comedian Chris, has also spoken candidly about whether she and Joe will have children together. Speaking to Prima magazine, Dianne said that although a family is something they both want, it's all about timing. She said: 'We've always wanted kids, it's just finding the right time. I don't feel worried about taking time out from dancing, I just don't see the point in worrying. 'When everything aligns, it will happen. I have to have that vision. I like to practise manifestation, I'm quite spiritual.' Dianne Buswell and Joe Sugg have been dating for over five years Dianne added that because she is relaxed about planning her future with Joe, she can focus more on her career. She said: 'I plan my work a lot, but that's probably as far as I go with planning. I'm quite an unorganised person actually. Article continues below 'Joe and I don't really talk about that kind of thing. We're both so relaxed so we just play it by ear. We really enjoy each other's company so much and whatever happens, happens." Joe Sugg is appearing on Richard Osman's House of Games tonight (August 18) on BBC Two at 6pm.

Australian man jumps into River Kelvin to get his football back
This is the moment an Australian man jumped into the River Kelvin to get his football back, prompting cheers from crowds. Dan Hespe dropped his football into the river in Glasgow's Kelvinbridge and was determined to get it back. He had been enjoying some sunshine at a beer garden in the West End with the rest of the Glasgow Sharks Australian Rules Football Club when he lost his ball over a fence. Dan didn't hesitate for very long and jumped into the river, swimming to retrieve his football. When asked about the swim, he told STV News: 'We've been participating in our Silly Sunday for the day, which is a tradition in Australia, where, as the name [suggests], you get silly' 'And unfortunately, my football ended up in the Kelvin, and I thought that it didn't look too deep, maybe up to the knees. Turned out – up to your chin.' 'Anyway, I got the ball, everyone's cheering, these things happen.' Dan and the rest of his pals then returned to enjoying their evening at the pub.
