Louis Vuitton owner LVMH in talks to sell Marc Jacobs in deal that could fetch $1B: report
In 2024, Bloomberg reported that LVMH was exploring strategic options for the label with advisers after receiving interest from potential buyers, though the company denied the claim at the time.
The Bernard Arnault-led company has been discussing deals with multiple parties, including Reebok-owner Authentic Brands, Brookstone-owner Bluestar Alliance and Vera Wang parent WHP Global, the newspaper said on Friday.

Reuters was unable to immediately verify the report. LVMH, Marc Jacobs and the potential buyers did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comments.
The Journal said that a deal could be finalized soon, provided talks don't fall apart.
Dealmaking in the luxury retail sector has drawn attention in Europe. Earlier this year, Prada acquired Versace from Capri Holdings, combining two iconic Italian fashion brands in a $1.4 billion deal.
LVMH's second-quarter sales, which include products such as Louis Vuitton handbags, Dior dresses and Moet & Chandon champagne, came in slightly below market expectations.

‘Big Things Ahead,' Says Top Investor About AMD Stock
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) stock has experienced a volatile ride in the AI space. Once hailed as a potential challenger to segment leader Nvidia, the narrative was later tempered, with skeptics doubting AMD's ability to compete at the highest level. Elevate Your Investing Strategy: Take advantage of TipRanks Premium at 50% off! Unlock powerful investing tools, advanced data, and expert analyst insights to help you invest with confidence. Yet, those doubts now appear to be fading. The Lisa Su-led company is increasingly viewed as a strong contender, perhaps not to dethrone Nvidia, but certainly to be the second-best option in the AI chip race. That renewed optimism is reflected in the stock's recent performance, with shares up 122% since bottoming out in April. And with AMD set to report Q2 earnings next Tuesday (Aug 5), some investors believe the rally still has legs. One of them is top investor Danil Sereda, who's ranked among the top 2% of stock pickers on TipRanks. Looking ahead, Sereda thinks the chip giant is set to deliver an investor-pleasing readout. 'AMD heads into Q2 FY2025 earnings with strong momentum, driven by robust AI and data center demand, and a history of consistent double-beats,' the 5-star investor said. Indeed, while questions about AMD's AI positioning have lingered, the company has continued to turn in solid financial results. That was evident in Q1, when AMD topped both revenue and earnings estimates. A key driver was the Data Center segment, which posted $3.7 billion in revenue – a 57% year-over-year increase – thanks to strong demand for EPYC CPUs and Instinct GPUs. During the earnings call, management emphasized growing traction with hyperscalers and enterprise customers, supported by more than thirty new cloud instances and expanding on-premise adoption for the seventh consecutive quarter. Sereda believes this momentum is far from a fluke. With MI300 series GPUs gaining traction, the rollout of MI350 samples underway, and Oracle making a multi-billion-dollar commitment to MI355x, the investor sees AMD's AI strategy gaining meaningful ground. These developments, coupled with new Tier 1 partnerships and the ZT Systems acquisition, suggest AMD is positioning itself to capture a growing share of what was estimated last year as a $500 billion AI compute market – a figure that may now understate the opportunity, given sustained hyperscaler demand. 'With the MI350 and upcoming MI400 series, AMD should eventually narrow the gap with Nvidia,' Sereda opined. Given the strong setup heading into the earnings print, Sereda admits it might look risky to recommend buying the stock just a week ahead of results, but he believes the odds of another upbeat quarter are 'quite high,' especially with the Data Center segment poised to extend its revenue share gains and boost margins and overall growth. In light of this bullish thesis, Sereda rates AMD shares a Buy. (To watch Sereda's track record, click here) Meanwhile, Wall Street takes a more measured stance. AMD stock holds a Moderate Buy consensus, based on 26 Buys and 10 Holds. However, with the average price target of $147.83 implying a ~15% downside from current levels, some analysts may soon be forced to revisit their forecasts. M&A News: China Crisis Eases for BlackRock as $22.8B Panama Ports Deal Moves Closer
Hong Kong conglomerate CK Hutchison has bowed to political pressure from the Chinese government to keep its $22.8 billion Panama Ports deal with U.S. asset manager BlackRock (BLK) on track. Elevate Your Investing Strategy: Take advantage of TipRanks Premium at 50% off! Unlock powerful investing tools, advanced data, and expert analyst insights to help you invest with confidence. Major Investor CK Hutchison said today that it was considering inviting a Chinese 'major strategic investor' to join the BlackRock-led consortium negotiating the sale of its global ports business outside China, including operations at the Panama Canal. BlackRock stock rose 0.4% in pre-market trading in the hope that this could mean the deal finally gets done. Although as can be seen below its share price has performed well recently despite the uncertainty around the deal. The proposed sale in March to BlackRock and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) includes two ports at either end of the Panama Canal and more than 40 others around the world. However, the Chinese government has repeatedly expressed concerns about the deal. This has included slamming CK for betraying the Chinese people and being 'spineless.' It was concerned, and presumably still is, that the deal could hit China's shipping and trade interests. CK did not say who the investor was, but it follows a report earlier this month that China wants state-owned shipping giant Cosco to be an equal partner and shareholder in the ports or else it would block the sale. Trump Barrier 'We remain in discussions with members of the consortium with a view to inviting a major strategic investor from China to join as a significant member of the consortium,' CK Hutchison said. It added that changes to the consortium's membership and deal structure will be needed for the deal 'to be capable of being approved by all relevant authorities'. It said the 'period for exclusive negotiations' mentioned in the March announcement with BlackRock and MSC had expired, but discussions will continue. Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Denise Wong said that 'ongoing negotiations and the reported inclusion of Cosco Shipping in the consortium have likely eased concerns over Chinese regulatory hurdles, strengthening investor confidence in the deal's viability.' However, President Trump may be one final barrier for the deal to get over. The sale was seen as a political victory for Trump, who had vowed to 'take back' the Panama Canal from alleged Chinese control. Bringing Cosco into the deal would not sit well with Trump, especially during the tariff trade war between the U.S. and China. Is BLK a Good Stock to Buy Now? On TipRanks, BLK has a Strong Buy consensus based on 13 Buy and 1 Hold ratings. Its highest price target is $1,224. BLK stock's consensus price target is $1,168.79, implying a 4.05% upside.
