Kimera Evo38 revealed! Rally tribute goes bonkers with 592bhp and 4WD
Fresh development of reimagined 1980s rally monster is boosted to nearly 600bhp in production form Open gallery Close The striking Kimera Evo38 has been revealed in finished production form ahead of its debut at Monterey Car Week, bringing almost 600bhp, mild hybridisation and four-wheel drive. A vision of 'what would have been' if the legendary WRC-winning Lancia 037 had continued being developed beyond 1992, it is an evolution of the Italian firm's debut model, the Evo37. The most notable development is a move from the rear-wheel-drive set-up that defined the 037 – it having been the last such car to win a constructor's title in the World Rally Championship – to four-wheel drive. Power is sent to the front wheels through a Torsen limited-slip differential and the split of torque between each axle can be varied using a controller in the cockpit. This notionally allows for greater traction on slippery surfaces or under high loads, although the driver can choose for all the power to be sent through the rear wheels if they so desire. The driveshaft that links the front axle to the mid-mounted, turbocharged and supercharged 2.2-litre four-cylinder engine runs through the spine of the car's cockpit and is encased in glass. Power is up from 500bhp to 592bhp, thanks in part to the addition of a 48V mild-hybrid system and a trick exhaust, which is valved to allow drivers to swap between a road-friendly muffled set-up and a rortier straight-through one. With the valve opened, the turbocharger can also be seen glowing through the car's rear end, Kimera said. That power is delivered through a six-speed manual gearbox with an exposed billet-aluminum linkage. The car's chassis has also been overhauled, gaining push-rod suspension and a strut-tower brace into which the turbocharger's cooler is integrated. Despite the move to four-wheel drive, the Evo38 is lighter than the Evo37, at around 1100kg. Prices have yet to be confirmed but are expected to push toward the £500,000 mark. 'Nearly all' 38 examples set to be produced are already accounted for, according to Kimera. Celtic working on eight deals as Brendan Rodgers set to finally get his wish
The Parkhead boss is pushing for more additions with the deadline fast approaching Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers hasn't been shy in demanding the club add more firepower this summer. And the door has been thrown open to Louis Munteanu in the hunt for a striker to rival Adam Idah. Matt O'Riley, Kyogo Furuhashi and Nicolas Kuhn all departing the Scottish champions in the last three windows - with Rodgers insisting adding more goals was his priority before the window closes. The first leg of the Champions League qualifier is fast approaching - with the Scottish champions set to face either Kairat or Slovan Bratislava on August 20. And Romania international Munteanu has been thrown into a bizarre situation by Cluj amid claims that a £10.5million bid from Stade Rennes had been accepted - while a Celtic bid had been knocked back. But weeks later he remains at Cluj - after owner Nelutu Varga insists he has now turned down a series of offers for the frontman. He told Pro Sport: I refused four clear offers. I don't want to talk about transfer fees anymore. I know how much he's worth and I'm not in a hurry to give him away. No matter how many offers he has, the right offer will surely come." Celtic may also have to meet a massive salary to bring in the striker - with the Romanian outlet claiming that Munteanu's agent is pushing for a £1.7million-per-year salary. After the departure of Kuhn, a winger is also high up on the shopping list with Go Ahead Eagles forward Jakob Breum on the agenda despite chief Jan Willem van Dop's brutal swipe at the Hoops. Michel-Ange Balikwisha remains an option with Belgian outlet HLN reportinh that while the Hoops retain the most concrete interest in the wide man, they haven't been table to come to an agreement with Antwerp. The Eredivise side are aiming to recoup the £4.7million forked out to sign Balikswisha from league rivals Liege back in 2021 - despite the forward entering the final year of his deal. Brondby's highly-rated winger Clement Bischoff has been touted as a target for Celtic and Sunderland this summer - and has been pitched a move to Celtic Park over the Premier League promise land. Former Rangers defender Richard Foster conceded: "For me, you are going to Celtic, with the opportunity to go and play in the Champions League. 'Or, you are going to Sunderland, where, let's be honest, they are likely going to be cannon fodder for the rest of the league. 'In my mind, there isn't even a question there. Even if Sunderland are offering twice the money, I think the winger should go to Celtic, if that's his choice.' Celtic have been linked with a shock move for West Ham playmaker Andy Irving - with a £3.5million price tag placed on the Scot. However, the Scottish champions face a battle for the midfielder with The Scotsman reporting they are joined by Rangers and interested suitors in Serie A and the Bundesliga in the race for the 22-year-old. Marco Tilio 's move to Rapid Vienna is on hold - despite failing to make a competitive appearance so far this season. But sporting director Markus Katzer has refused to give up hope, telling Kurier: "Tilio could give us as much as Dahl, even if he plays differently. He is the perfect fit. It would be a good and fair deal for both." Stephen Welsh is also expected to leave Glasgow's east end following the arrival of Jahmai Simpson-Pusey on loan from Manchester CIty. The Hoops academy graduate has fallen out of favour under Rodgers and recently spent time on loan with Belgian side Mechelen with reports suggesting Welsh is exploring his options.

Celtic Invincible announces retirement after going seven months without a club – but instantly gets new job
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THIS former Celtic star has been weighing up his future in football since leaving his last club in his homeland seven months ago. But now he's finally made his decision and has called an end to his playing career at the age of 34. Sign up for the Celtic newsletter Sign up 3 Scott Brown and team-mates lifting Invincible title in 2017 Credit: Scottish News and Sport Dedryck Boyata has announced his retirement from football after a short spell away from the game following his exit from Club Brugge in January. The ex-Celtic defender, who was part of Brendan Rodgers' Invincible squad, spent 18 months in Belgium with the Brugge giants after three years in Germany with Hertha Berlin - the club he left Celtic to join in 2019. He might not have played for any teams since leaving the Belgian outfit but he has been offered routes back to the pitch since - with former Hibs boss Lee Johnson at one stage keen on signing him for his club Lommel. Boyata did actually return to playing in the summer - but not in an eleven-a-side pitch. The defender took part in a unique seven-a-side tournament in the USA in June which saw him go head-to-head with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Diego Godin, Andy Carroll, Nani and Sebastian Giovinco. Former Rangers winger Brandon Barker was also involved along with ex-St Johnstone, St Mirren and Ross County star Graham Carey. But the highly-anticipated event - The Soccer Tournament (TST) - was the last time fans got the chance to see Boyata in action. The 34-year-old leaves a legacy behind him having enjoyed a trophy-laden stint in Glasgow and lifted trophies in England and Belgium with Manchester City and Club Brugge. He was even part of the Belgium national side which finished third place in the 2018 World Cup. Boyata was capped 31 times for the Red Devils across a 12-year spell. Celtic hero Dedryck Boyata's dad swaps footie for politics as he runs for parliament - but fails to win seat in first election campaign And he's hoping to create more memories with his country - after taking on a role in the national team's reserve side. Boyata has been appointed as a coach for the Belgium Under-21 team and will assist manager Gill Swerts for their Euro qualifying campaign against Austria, Belarus, Denmark and Wales. It's an exciting new job for the retired defender who once sparked controversy in Scotland - by falling out with Celts boss Rodgers. He was at one stage a fan favourite at Parkhead before things turned sour amid rumours of a potential move to England or the continent began to swirl. This was when Celtic had a tricky Champions League qualifier against AEK Athens to deal with. Amid the growing interest in the defender, Boyata ruled himself OUT of the game with an injury, leaving the Hoops boss furious. 3 Speaking in May, Boyata gave his version of events and revealed why he joined the Scottish giants in the first place. He said: "I wanted to go my own way, and that is why I decided to come to Celtic, as I wanted regular first-team football as I felt I was ready for it, and I probably wouldn't have got it at Manchester City. "I was a City player who had graduated through the academy, and I was still a young player. I played some first-team games, but I never felt I would be a permanent part of a first-team eleven. "Coming to Celtic was a way for me to go to a team where the demands are high, and I could become a main player. "Playing under Ronny Deila was a good and a new experience. I started at City with Mark Hughes, then it was Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini, who, of course, are well-experienced managers, but coming to Celtic was a new level for me. 3 Rodgers and Boyata didn't quite see eye-to-eye at the end of his stint Credit: EPA "It was Ronny who came to see me playing at City and sold me on the move to Celtic. "He chose the right words, and he told me what to expect, and I enjoyed playing under him as we won the title, but we did not do so well in the cup competitions. "It was good to win my first league title at that point in my career, but at the end of Ronny's reign, the tension was quite high. It was a year of discovering a new league, and it ended successfully enough for me. "It was a good feeling to score for Celtic and ingratiate myself with the supporters right away, as I had come from Manchester City, and I didn't know what to expect. "To score on my first game at Celtic Park was a wonderful experience, and to repeat that against Qarabag was fantastic. "That was an important goal as it got us through to the play-off qualifiers, but sadly, we lost to Malmö and then dropped into the Europa League."
