'I lead one of TV's biggest sci-fi shows, but no one recognises me'

You'd be forgiven for presuming that most actors enjoy being recognised by an adoring public.
After all, surely half the fun of being famous is to have crowds yell your name as you stagger out of the lobby of a fancy hotel or dodge autograph hunters in Leicester Square.
Well, that's not what Lou Llobell wants from life.
Despite the fact that she plays Gaal Dornick on Apple TV Plus's sci-fi juggernaut Foundation and is about to star in André Øvredal's next unnamed horror movie, the 30-year-old enjoys her anonymity.
'I was just in Sicily this last weekend,' she tells Metro at an interview ahead of the release of Foundation season 3.
'And on my flight there, I heard someone say, 'Have you watched this show called Foundation?' I went, 'Oh yeah, that's me'.'

The (presumably quite embarrassed) fan went on to tell Lou how much they adored the show, had 'binged the first two seasons' and couldn't wait for the third.
It's easy to agree with that fan. Foundation is an epic sci-fi saga based on the books by Isaac Asimov and tells the story of Gaal (Lou) and Hari Seldon (Jared Harris), who use advanced mathematics to predict the future.
Believing there's a huge cataclysm on the way pair set up the titular Foundation to try and avert disaster. All caught up? Let's get back to Lou and her fan encounter.
Now, you might think not being immediately recognised by the fan on the plane would bother Lou, but it didn't bother her at all. In fact, she sees it as a bonus.
'I hope it never changes,' Lou said. 'I hope I get to do all the jobs I want to do, and work and everything, and then no one knows who I am.'
'It's great because a lot of the fans on Foundation are not necessarily fans of me,' she explained. 'They're fans of the show, and I love talking to fans because of how much they love it.'
This modesty, for lack of a better word, is part of what makes Lou so endearing.
Indeed, when I asked her how she first reacted to the news that she'd bagged a leading role in Foundation, she admitted to being in a kind of daze about the whole situation.
Apparently, when Foundation co-creator David S. Goyer told her she'd won the part, she replied 'Okay.'
'I think [David] was expecting a bit more of a reaction,' she laughed. 'I was like, 'Okay, thank you'.'
It took a phone call to break Lou out of her stunned stupor and for the enormity of the job she'd taken on to start to set in – although she didn't realise how much her life was going to change until she visited the set.
'I knew the scale, and I knew what everyone was anticipating,' Lou explained. 'But I don't think it really hit me until I walked on set or did my first costume fitting'
'I was like, 'Is this what being an actor is? No one told me!' But it was amazing to see how it all came together.
'That first day on set was jaw-dropping for me, and it's so funny how adaptable human beings are because it's now one of the places I'm most comfortable.'
Not that her growing comfort with TV and film sets has made her in any way complacent.
'I always want to feel like I'm being kept on my toes and feel nervous because it drives me to show up and make sure I put my best foot forward,' she said. More Trending
It's good that Lou managed to adapt so quickly, as she was clear with me that acting was the only career she ever considered pursuing.
'If this hadn't worked out, I don't know what I'd be doing,' she admitted. 'It was this or nothing.'
Foundation season 3 will be available to stream on Apple TV Plus from July 11.

A bone-chilling scream sends shivers in unexpected Coronation Street horror

Sally and Tim Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine)'s first experience of being foster parents on Coronation Street hasn't been easy. They've been taking care of Shanice and Joanie Michaelis (Molly Kilduff and Savanna Pennington), after their parents Mick and Lou (Joe Layton and Farrel Hegarty) both ended up in prison. The girls had an unsettled life with their parents, with Mick often violent towards Lou. Mick's behaviour became worse after he discovered that their eldest child, son Brody (Ryan Mulvey), is actually the biological son of Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). A violent rampage which started with him beating up Lou and ended with him killing PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) meant that Mick will be in prison for many years. Soon afterwards, Lou was also jailed for a violent assault on Gary Windass (Mikey North). Against this turbulent backdrop, Sally and Tim have done their best to provide a safe and loving environment for the girls, but it's been a challenge. A trivial disagreement between Sally and Tim led to Shanice getting upset as it reminded her of the violent arguments she was used to witnessing. Then the two girls repeatedly fought with each other, with Joanie's behaviour sometimes turning very nasty. When she got upset and threw the TV remote at her little sister, Sally and Tim were shocked to see that Shanice had numerous bruises on her. They talked to Brody about it and he insisted that Shanice was being truthful when she said she'd fallen at school. He insisted the fight was a one-off and the sisters were usually fine with each other. Viewers knew that Brody was covering for the girls, as we've seen him previously warning his sisters to be on their best behaviour in case they're taken away from Sally and Tim. Brody's terrified that social services will try to split his siblings up and he's made it his mission to keep the family together. He recently planned to do a runner with Shanice and Joanie but was stopped by Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove). More Trending In upcoming episodes Tim hears about this plan from Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and he talks to Brody and tells him that social services only want what's best for the family. Later Brody finds out that Lou has been sentenced to four years in prison and he breaks the news to his shocked sisters. They're distraught and Sally does her best to calm them. Vinny receives a visit from the police in Emmerdale as he is tormented by guilt

There's been a dark cloud following Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) around Emmerdale ever since he almost kissed Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah). He's spiralled and started questioning what it means for his sexuality, and whether he does fancy his pal. Vinny is now faced with the reality that he might ruin Gabby's (Rosie Bentham) life, and rather than do that, he'd sooner lie to himself. But he may not have a choice thanks to Mike. In a bid to find some answers for himself, Vinny turned to the internet. He came across Mike, who seemed to be a like-minded friend. Mike probed Vinny on whether or not he was gay and reassured him everything he was going through was normal. But Vinny found himself in even more turmoil when he arranged to meet Mike knowing that it's not right, but later snogged Gabby to remind himself of their love. Vinny and Mike's friendship progressed, and after Vinny received an urgent message from Mike, Mike arrived at Vinny's revealing he'd been kicked out by his partner. As Vinny fumbled over how to help his friend, Mike hinted there is something between them, leaving Vinny more awkward than ever. He denied it, which saw Mike flip out. Vinny was badly beaten by vicious Mike but is allowing Gabby to believe it was Kammy. It's not a great move as now she wants to go to the police and get Kammy done for assault. Vinny is being eaten alive by guilt, especially when Gabby realises their wedding rings aren't the ones she chose. More Trending Vinny tries to move on, but he's horrified when the police arrive at the scrapyard. They ask him if he knows a man called Graham going by the name of Mike. Vinny has already paid him off, but now Mike's being investigated for extortion. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Andy Carroll breaks silence on Lou Teasdale row as he shares huge relationship update

It's been a rollercoaster of a relationship for former England star Andy Carroll and celebrity hair stylist Lou Teasedale, with the pair now hoping to move forward together Andy Carroll and Lou Teasedale are working on their relationship after a series of booze-fuelled rows caused them to reportedly split up. Former Premier League star Andy, 36, was said to have been desperate to make amends with mum-of-one Lou, after he was allegedly questioned by police during a trip to Greek party island Mykonos. ‌ The final straw for Lou, 41, was said to have taken place during this year's Glastonbury in June, which saw yet another bust-up between the pair. They had gone to Worthy Farm for a weekend away and to celebrate their one-year anniversary after meeting at the festival the year before. ‌ But Lou left the festival early, leaving former Liverpool striker Andy there alone. It was also rumoured that Andy had initiated the break-up, but it emerged earlier in the week that it was actually Lou who called time on their romance. It comes after Andy Carroll 'splits from Lou Teasdale due to her demands' weeks after public row. ‌ However, the pair appear to have turned it around and are making an effort to patch up their rocky relationship with the hope of moving forward together. Andy has admitted he's been going through a tough time, with his divorce from TOWIE star Billi Mucklow causing him stress, but he loves Lou and her family. Speaking to the Sun, Andy revealed: "Some of our rows have been about alcohol, as Lou has been teetotal for 14 years and I have a beer or wine at dinner and a drink after the game, but it's not a problem in my life. 'I'm a professional footballer and that's not the case. I play sports every single day, so my level of fitness is really good. I play football every day, so I'm fit.' Andy also addressed an incident in which he and Lou were reported to have argued at a Mykonos restaurant, resulting in police arriving to question the star. He insisted it had nothing to do with alcohol and that the pair were actually arguing about him "having three coffees in the morning." ‌ The footballer, who has recently signed for Dagenham & Redbridge FC, said that Lou was concerned he had a caffeine addiction. A joint statement from them at the time said: 'Whilst having a private dinner in a restaurant on a quiet holiday in Mykonos, we had a heated discussion of the sort that most couples have had on occasion. 'It quickly became apparent to the police that there was no reason for them to be there.' It added: 'As far as we are concerned, the situation has been blown out of all proportion by an interested member of the public. 'No one was arrested, and no one was charged with anything. We are very happy, in love and looking forward to our future together, and we are disappointed that a private disagreement has become a public matter.' ‌ The incident, in a packed restaurant, was witnessed by staff and members of the public. One worker at the Nikolus Tavern said of the first argument: 'We recognised him as the footballer Andy Carroll immediately. He seemed very drunk and furious with his partner. He was using very bad words. It was improper behaviour. The woman looked very upset.' The Sun reported that a source said: "After the restaurant episode, there was another incident at the hotel. This time, the footballer went to the police station. We know the woman stayed somewhere else that night.' Meanwhile, a British holidaymaker who reportedly spotted the pair while out for a stroll accused Andy of being "very drunk" adding that he shouted at Lou: "I'm done with us!"
