'Neighbours of the Prophet Endowment' receives first donation of Dhs3 million
This generous contribution shows that His Highness's call for goodness—when he quotes the Qur'anic verse 'And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations'—has deeply resonated with the community. The initiative is a comprehensive, sustainable endowment platform that aims to improve orphans' living conditions and support their academic, psychological, social, health, and economic development, ensuring them a dignified life and a hopeful future.
Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, praised the donation from a benevolent woman as a shining example of community solidarity and the enduring values of endowment. She highlighted that this programme, initiated by His Highness, marks a promising beginning to a series of contributions that the Foundation hopes will grow with the support of both individuals and institutions.
She stated, 'Every dirham invested in this endowment has a long-term impact—not just in terms of direct assistance but also in building futures and providing orphans with a life worthy of their human dignity.' The benefits of this endowment reach far beyond the orphans, extending to those who give and maintain it—offering the reward of ongoing charity that continues to benefit both in life and after death. It stands as a lasting source of goodness and a living example of meaningful giving.

TBHF targets youth through sustainable programs and projects
Across borders and belief systems, there is a shared understanding: today's youth are tomorrow's decision-makers, innovators, and peacebuilders. But while this truth is widely echoed, it is far from universally realised. Millions of young people continue to be excluded from the opportunities that allow them to fulfil their potential — not due to a lack of ambition, but because of war, displacement, poverty, and systemic inequality. Young people make up over 42 per cent of the world's population. Yet, in regions hardest hit by instability, climate disruption, and conflict, they remain underrepresented in development agendas. The United Nations reports that over 267 million young people globally are not engaged in employment, education, or training, and refugee populations face significant barriers to accessing higher education. This situation highlights a critical challenge in realizing the potential of youth and ensuring inclusive and equitable access to learning opportunities. Education, livelihood, protection, healthcare, and emergency aid It is within this reality that The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) operates, providing a model of humanitarian intervention rooted in dignity, and long-term opportunity. Since its establishment under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of TBHF, the Foundation has touched the lives of over 6 million people through more than 230 humanitarian and development projects across over 37 countries. Stories of hope Behind these numbers are stories that reflect the determination of a generation navigating extraordinary challenges. A refugee girl in Sudan returning to school after years of displacement. A young man in Lebanon launching a small business after completing a TBHF-supported skills course. A teenager in Gaza advocating for girls' education in her community after surviving trauma. Their resilience is visible, urgent, and transformational. These stories are a reminder that support must be measured by outcomes, not intentions. TBHF designs its programmes around that principle, ensuring every intervention is community-driven, evidence-based, and youth-centred. Every TBHF initiative is grounded in a holistic understanding of what young people need to thrive. Even in emergency contexts, TBHF ensures that education, mental health, and long-term recovery are prioritised. It recognises that rebuilding futures must go beyond immediate aid — it must restore a sense of agency, stability, and hope. As the world observes International Youth Day 2025, the Foundation calls for more than reflection. It calls for structural change. The communities TBHF serves have shown that youth are not waiting to be supported — they are already leading, already innovating, already rebuilding what was lost. In the words of Her Excellency Alya Obaid Al Musaiebi, Director of The Big Heart Foundation: 'We often speak about supporting youth to become leaders as a future goal. However, for many young people in the communities we serve, leadership isn't a choice; it's a necessity born from crisis. They are already solving problems, holding families together, and rebuilding what was lost. Our role is not just to support youth, but to remove the barriers that were never theirs to face. True progress begins when we stop asking what youth need to become — and start asking what systems need to change so they can thrive.' With every school rebuilt, every training programme delivered, and every young voice uplifted, The Big Heart Foundation affirms a simple truth: When supported and provided with access to opportunities and platforms to tell their stories, youth don't just recover from hardship — they transform it into momentum.

Sharjah Social Empowerment supports fatherless children
Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) implemented a series of workshops for its pioneering youth project 'Sanad Al Bayt,' benefiting 44 young men and women during the summer to support fatherless children. Since its launch, the project has reached 857 beneficiaries, aiming to enhance leadership skills among young people. 'Sanad Al Bayt' is an integrated leadership project that seeks to meet the needs of fatherless children by empowering them psychologically, socially and academically, while fostering a spirit of giving and active participation in family life. The project aims to prepare balanced and innovative young people capable of facing life's challenges and supporting their families and communities with love and responsibility. Nawal Al Hamdi, Director of the Social Welfare Department, stated, 'Sanad Al Bayt is not just a social and development project, but rather a platform for building a more cohesive family, highlighting the values of leadership, giving, and shared responsibility.' She continued, 'Sanad Al Bayt is distinguished by its comprehensive approach, which focuses on developing a balanced personality and building strong, resilient individuals capable of achieving a balance between self and social responsibility, in addition to promoting and instilling the values of family cooperation and integration.' The project uses clear impact-measurement mechanisms, including tracking improvements in family relationships, academic achievement and community participation. It also works to strengthen confidence in children's abilities and their role in building society. Last month, the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation received a donation from the Sultan of the Dawoodi Bohra community to support its endowment project 'Prophet's Neighbours,' which aims to provide sustainable resources for the care and empowerment of orphans. The gesture comes within the framework of community-giving initiatives and the promotion of human solidarity values. The donation reflected the Dawoodi Bohra community's ongoing commitment to supporting charitable efforts worldwide and strengthening cooperation with humanitarian institutions in the UAE, which embody the wise leadership's directives to empower various segments of society and build a more stable future for coming generations. On this occasion, Mona Bin Hadha Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Foundation, expressed her deep gratitude and appreciation to the Sultan of the Dawoodi Bohra community for this generous contribution. She emphasised that the support directly enhances the financial sustainability of endowment projects that serve orphans and their families. She said, 'The endowment project 'Prophet's Neighbours' is a practical embodiment of the values of compassion and solidarity advocated by our Noble Prophet — peace be upon him. At the Foundation, we are proud of this collaboration that translates the spirit of humanitarian dialogue into tangible projects that contribute to building a dignified life for our children deprived of parental care.' Al Suwaidi confirmed that this donation will be allocated to specific endowment expenditures, including comprehensive care programmes such as education for fatherless students, healthcare, meeting their living needs, home maintenance, vocational training, and psychological and social support. The funds will also provide urgent assistance to widows, supporting them and thereby enhancing the quality of life for beneficiaries, ensuring they live with dignity and are given equal opportunities for success and effective social integration. In June, the SSEF implemented the 'Orphan Happiness' initiative to coincide with Eid Al Adha, in a move aimed at bringing happiness to the hearts of children without parental care and embody the values of community solidarity. The initiative included providing Eid sweets, toy vouchers, free meals, and shopping vouchers that benefited 100 families. It also included making 233 orphans happy by delivering Eid gifts to them, enabling children to enjoy Eid and enhancing their sense of independence and distinction. WAM

Family and Community Council: Umbrella unites community entities
In a phone call to the "Direct Line" program, broadcast on Sharjah Radio and Television, Her Highness Sheikha stated that the journey will continue whether carried out by us or others. It is recognized that the family serves as the nucleus of society. To reform the family, it is essential for society to be righteous. This requires beginning with the cleaning of the soil to remove impurities and elements that could harm crops, preparing it for planting. Subsequently, the focus shifts to planting 'seeds,' referring to our children, both sons and daughters, who represent the country's future. After planting, it is important to care for these plants, ensuring they are in a proper, clean environment free of obstacles. Continuous nurturing and monitoring of these seeds occur day after day, week after week, and year after year. August 7, 2025, marks 25 years of nurturing the planted seeds, and as a result, each seed has become an individual capable of planting new seeds in the future. Therefore, the work of this foundation continues and remains sustainable." 40 years of serving individuals and society Her Highness added, 'In response to the life changes that require a deeper focus on individual development and enhancing their role within family and societal frameworks, and after a comprehensive and integrated study of the aspirations of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, we announce today, with God's blessing, the launch of a new government facility under the name of the Sharjah Family and Community Council.' Her Highness continued, 'Under this council, a coalition of government institutions is dedicated to supporting families and their members by fostering both intellectual and physical skills, as well as safeguarding them from influences that could harm their faith, culture, and national identity. This approach has been in place for the past 40 years, and we continue to invest in our people. It is a vision championed by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah. Beginning with a single idea and the establishment of the Al Montazah Girls Club, we have made a positive impact in homes across our community, nurturing artists, creators, leaders, writers, media professionals, athletes, and many others. Our services go beyond just families; they extend to the entire community, fostering a more conscious society. Recognizing our interdependence, we have initiated the creation of an umbrella organization to enhance the collaboration and efforts of these institutions, uniting them under one entity— the Family and Community Council.' Investment projects in Sharjah Hospitality Services Group 'The Sharjah Family and Community Council oversees a new initiative we recently launched: the Sharjah Hospitality Services Group. This group will encompass prominent hospitality institutions, such as the Sharjah Ladies Club and the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre. We have plans for future investment projects that will integrate into this group, marking an exciting addition to our existing institutions. Our accumulated experience positions us well to expand investments that cater to community needs. This initiative is designed to benefit the community directly, as a portion of the proceeds will support various humanitarian, developmental, and community initiatives. Our goal is to promote sustainable development and create a brighter, more prosperous future for all. Ultimately, we aim to place the Emirate of Sharjah on the global economic map, attracting suitable investments along the way,' Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi said. "Flexible" plans to suit a rapidly changing era Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed concluded her remarks by stating, "The sons and daughters of Sharjah represent our future and the enduring hope we strive for. We have faith in our youth's capability to propel development across all its facets, as we nurture conscientious and impactful leaders dedicated to serving the community. We live in an era of rapid change; therefore, our plans must remain flexible and adaptable for the greater good of society. Thankfully, we are now witnessing the fruits of our efforts over the past decades. With these gratifying results and the growth of our institutions, we continue to strive for more for Sharjah. These institutions have been established to endure, regardless of who leads them. This is my utmost wish for my sons and daughters. I extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the employees of these institutions for their unwavering dedication and sincerity in their work, consistently striving to provide the best for these esteemed institutions that serve the Emirate of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates. I congratulate them on every step they take."
